fucking love and hate this character. he cracked me up every goddamn time

Ugh.. when do we get to do somethin?
>Stakeouts are 80% of the job, boychik. DON'T PULL AT THAT! A convincing cover is the other 20%.
.. So, no women no children?
>NO WOMEN no children. Them's the rules. What separates us from the baddies
What if she's an enemy agent?
>Nope
an assassin?
>Mmm, no
a DOUBLE AGENT ASSASSIN who just killed the president!
>No sir, non-lethal takedown only. President's not the president anyway, you know that
Huh.. howbout y'know, uh.. a lady Dracula?
>You mean.. le vampir? Nosferatu?
I guess

Season 5 feels really meandering and they probably could have cut out Spanakopita and Venture Libre to do more with the OSI investigating the Guild so the Sovereign’s heel turn in Gargantua 2 doesn’t feel so sudden.
>>
>>152321334
I'm trying to think of any other really good /co/-related Hunter S. Thompson parodies.

part of what makes venture bros so great is they're like the Homestar guys: their interests are STUPIDLY diverse. They refuse to be pigeonholed as nerds. You genuinely never know what random-ass subject might be referenced next. It's sure as hell not purely Eltingville Club fodder, if you follow me.

Fuck, the Homestar guys even know like, rap, emo music, and sports.
>>
>>152322158
All great /co/ creators are like that. All great artists are like that in general. Widely read, liking a variety of things, versed in all sorts of elements of art and culture.

A lot of newer cartoons suck because you can tell the Gen Xers and Millennials working on them only know about other cartoons.
>>

dude i hate everyone out there, and they hated me first. Plus i'm all worn out and ugly now from taking the wrong meds.
also i live in a place that was formerly dangerous because the police refused to touch any nonwhite criminals lest they cause another riot, and currently a massive fake anti-immigration thing is gunning other people down to distract from whatever the gubmint is actually doing this week. Leaving the house hasn't been an option in a very long time.

Yeah no. I was roughly a Brock Samson type.
They don' like that here. When I was a teenager they all wanted hairless little boys. it was the Ricky Martin / boy band craze. Rock'n'rollers like me were -out- and girls were already terrified of testosterone.

anyway no point in dwelling on it. life's over. best make it as good as I can for who's left, and that means drawing fun cartoons.

a neat thing in VB is things we take for granted now used to be really secret. it was WEIRD seeing that the Guild was somehow a secret for a while that nobody believed in. Like yeah, that's because they had moles e.g. Hatred who were pushing that story, but... it's weird how successful it was.

A sciencey guy with a portal thing in his basement handles GORGOTH, THE ANNIHILATOR from another dimension, a magician in a flowing cape deals with IXQUANTHU THE UNKNOWABLE, and like, a guy with all the powers of concrete... stops low-level crime in the city so a jewelry store doesn't have to raise their insurance premium

Looking at this I just realized that Rusty’s id was right he really could get with attractive women if he got over his hang ups. Malcom is just him with baboon DNA and parents who loved him. Rusty is actually pretty smart and capable. He finished functional ray shields basically on his own in a very short time after the intern experiment flopped, he made a holodeck by blending the mechanical and the occult, even in the pilot he made a laser that can melt anything like it was ice.

Rusty's problem isn't even that he's unmotivated (which he is), but that he has absolutely no direction or goals to which he can apply his intelligence so he just ends up making stuff that is like, a comic writer's idea of what a scientist does

Well Bowie did take the Guild underground either after taking over from Force Majeure, or immediately after the Gargantua-1 incident (probably the former, since it'd be a bit too quick for Guild to become legend during the Pyramid Wars). As for the thing about vampires and weird shit, it was great seeing Hunter not being so crazy that he expected everything. As seen with "The Nozzle", and RO-BOBO
>LEMONADE, GENTLEMEN?
>Sweet LORD, what the hell is that?!
>Ro-Bobo! Yea, I got it off the internet. They also make a Robo-Starsky, Robo-Crockett, and Robo-The Fatman.
>It's DISGUSTING!
>Why does it walk like it has to take a dump?

I also love the deleted scene from season 7 where he's yelling at the doctor who did his surgeries about possibly losing an inch off his dick because he lost to Hamilton.
>>
>>152321420
It's definitely a step down from season 4, but it's still great, and at least ATAG2 made for an excellent (if delayed) finale to the season.
>>
>>152328934
It's funny to think he did somewhat improve his ethics after the Joy Can, since he presumably doesn't want to deal with dead kids (at least like that) any more after. He's still a crackpot at science, but we see that he has moments of being able to do better with either the right encouragement or recognizing his problems. Once he saw he was about to become a villain, he stopped it and did seem to ease up on JJ considerably. He was still super jealous, but at least he knew where to draw the line after nearly crossing it blindly.

Honestly I've never seen Rusty's hangups stand in his way with the ladies. the few times we've seen him talk to them, he just... puts on incredibly tired moves and hackneyed phrases, because that's his version of being all golly gee whiz like the boys. He's never seen any seduction outside of cocktail key parties, he doesn't know how real people operate.
He could have made it fine with Quymn with very few changes to his technique.
>>
>>152330254
Come to think of it, yeah. The more we learned about the guild, the less effective it seemed.
Of course this is Sheila's guild, which isn't run very much like Bowie's was.

>>
>>152332421
That's basically what he's saying. "no women no children" means alive ones. Keep them alive, instead of letting them become dead
if they are dead already, then nothing you can do to them is a violation anymore

.. i probably shouldn't have phrased it like that.
>>
>>152332509

First of all, I want to say I like New York. I feel Rusty especially is in his element, less as an inventor and more as a business man.

That being said I really don't like the episode in which he purposely goes on a date with a woman who basically known for killing her husband or dates (forget if they were specific) I like Rusty honesty in that he's fully aware of the pathetic man he is, but basically really just wants a date. It was a fun episode but man definitely one of those episodes that fumbled the a-b plot in that Rusty basically poison himself at the end. The lady actually seemed like she could have been interesting and even had ties back to Sheila.
>>
>>152332786
By that point I was still pissed about the OSI basically saying "we're okay with arab terrorists holding a lot of power. if oil ever dropped in value, we'd lose this WONDERFUL peace we have with them"

At what point did the fans figure out the Rusty/Monarch connection? I feel like by the Blue Morpho arc where the latter trims his beard they stop trying to hide it.

Because of the Baboon DNA. Malcolm also has a big dick. Which could also be from the baboon DNA.>>152332960

I could swear the suit he ends up wearing doesn't quite fit him just right. Like the pants don't quite reach down to his akles, the sleeves down to his wrists and I think it was tight in the midriff.
>>

isn't monarch like, even skinnier than rusty and easily five inches taller? it can't just be posture.
also, boy, if I had a nickel for every time a Guild traitor helped Monarch dress in some new clothes, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's still weird that it happened twice, right?

Maybe not as bluntly as other shows of its kind, but it was clear that Doc and Jackson played by their own rules and didn't care about being on top of every little political shitshow or popular thing at the time. Which was nice since that shit generally dates a show a lot more than a passing reference to (then) current gaming consoles or platform for media consumption.
>>
>>152334426
I wonder if she's oblivious to her current outfit's meaning, too.
That was such a subtle and great gag how she's dressed as Jackie O, then we see her at a party having no fucking idea who that is, then we see the flashback where her persona was being picked out for her by Watch and Ward, until Phantom Limb snatched her up and made her a vaguely phantom-themed, largely-transparent costume.. and we're to assume that, after she left him, she went back and got a new theme on the quickfast, this time befitting her intelligence or whatever..
>>
>>152334597
yeah but they did tone it down a little and expressed some half-hearted regret in some interviews that suggests they CURRENTLY do not feel they have the freedom to play by their own rules. Not since the other people's rules started destroying lives.
>>
>>152334608
She might, Sheila isn't dumb or one to mince her meanings, she embraces being a bad guy, even when many of her peers hate that word for whatever reason. She probably just likes the aesthetic of the outfit, since it's not like the outfit automatically means anything bad, just a utilitarian look that's dark and fits her role as basically one of the co-bosses of the Guild.
>>
>>152334722
Didn't seem like they were too restricted, at least beyond how graphic the show could get, and the final season did have quite a bit of nudity in it, even if that was censored for the TV broadcast.
>>
>>152334745
indeed. Or maybe it's kinda ironic, like "yeah we do actually kill people in horrible ways, so"
>>152334766
Not what we're talking about. and honestly the nudity decreased a lot.
>>
>>152334825
Seemed about the same, usually kept to an episode or two at most. They were pretty good about not overdoing it like some adult shows that just go "look, cartoon boobs" and then boast about how much will be seen on DVD. And I'd say the nudity for that club Rusty sees in the virtual world was probably the most excessive they had ever been, since you had people in the background clearly having sex, one dude washing his cock and balls, and "Sheila" with her tits out for like the fourth or so time in the entirety of the series.
>>
>>152334907
>some adult shows that just go "look, cartoon boobs"
name one
>that one episode was pretty excessive
fair. though again, the oil thing put a taint on it.
>>
>>152334907
Also the black girl on the zebra
>>
>>152334940
Family Guy and American Dad have a lot of stuff like that, on top of the unbleeped swearing, usually more so with AD since Francine's character basically became a sex symbol amongst the ladies of Seth's show. Which I'll give since she's at least fairly attractive compared to the likes of Lois or whatsherface from Cleveland show
>>152334956
That too.
>>
I never understood the conclusion of The Unicorn in Captivity
Like does Rusty still think he's a part of the Illuminati?
If so then is he being given money to not make teleportation?
>>
>>152335008
you.. you're serious? They put out DVDs of primetime, non-cable shows with the nipples suncensored?
>>152335036
yeah they really had to rush through that, and we have no idea how they got him back out without revealing it.
>>
>>152335036
Probably, though he might have realized Brock duped him and just acts like a passive aggressive bitch towards him for a few days. Not like he can really do much about it.
I kind of want to see him maybe recreate the tech, but agree to keep it private so the boys could freely go back and forth to New York and the VenTech building which we can assume isn't going to be moved back to its original place. If they were to get another season, I just like the idea that Hank and Dean return to New York so they live their own lives and not just be entirely back to status quo in Colorado.
>>
>>152335036
That shit, and the literal pissing contest at the big.. what was that, yknow the talks between OSI and the Guild that fucking RUSTY of all people had to walk them through, destroyed any credibility Hunter's OSI had. I never thought about it before, as of the end of the show, they are both under completely new leadership and floundering.
>>
>>152335068
They were in COLORADO all this time? I thought maybe New Hampshire. Huh. Now I wanna rewatch the Christmas special and check whether they had actual snow.
>their own lives
I mean.. Dean has a school to go to, but that's kind of it.
I like your idea though. very Rusty thing to do.
>>
>>152335044
The point is that a lot of adult shows tend to just sell themselves on gratuitous amounts of sex and violence. Venture Bros had its share of violence, sure, but it wasn't overly horny, even with the way they treated Sheila. It's probably another reason why she stands out (in addition to the voice) because she isn't stripping every time she's on screen like some shows would do with their hot female characters. But when they did show nudity, they really didn't hold back. We've seen Rusty's dick at least three times, and if that 16th birthday party is anything to go by, Action Man never reversed the shrink ray
>>
>>152335036
We never got a definitive answer on that. I do find it kind of funny that both VB and Gundam Unicorn use that same piece of art and metaphor
>>
>>152335121
we're talking about nudity here. the thing that is way more forbidden than sex. you can show all the sex you want in adult western animation, but you NEVER let a nipple through. VB is quite unusual in giving us a little here and there, but it's also in a unique position in basically everything else about it

I find it very hard to believe the mcfarlane shows show any of that on DVD.
>>
>>152335110
Yea, the details are way more obvious in the last season and the movie. It does track with the fact that certain locations were often pretty mountainous and rocky, and why they would need to take the X1 to go far to something like New York when NH to NY is only like a five hour drive.
And that's exactly what I mean about their lives, would suck if Dean just drops the school stuff after everything. Hank I would imagine would at least try to apply to a school of sorts, either finding himself forced to take a year of High School to improve his odds, or maybe entering a trade school. Kid's got a lot of gusto, he just needs to find a profession that's within realistic reach of his skills and not two Batmans and drifter.
>>
>>152335070
Could be because Hunter doesn't know how to run an organization that big
Sure he could lead sphinx but that was using former OSI operatives with nothing else to do
Now he has to look after an entire place and he decides to run it how he wants which fucks up a lot of things as only a few people can understand Hunter's weird ways
>>
>>152335144
Why not? They uncensor the bleeping, and DVDs are generally less restricted than TV broadcasts.
>>
>>152335167
>Hank in high school
dammit anon now you have me wanting a season 9. I had closure, dammit! but now I NEED to see this. It'd be like Billy Madison and Jack all rolled into one.
I mean he wanted to join the OSI, Dermott managed it, I feel like Hank could join him there. But then it's just two more wisecracking buddies in a weird job together, which is fine, but well-tread ground on this show.
>>
>>152335070
The summit was great. We got to see Rusty undress both of the idiot brigades that made his life hell (at least contributed to it) and show that while he's not a great parent, he's a fair one. Shame we didn't see more of his new rules and regulations in play.
>>152335174
He seems to be keeping them more or less on the same course as Treister, even if we aren't seeing more of their day-to-day operations even after learning they're basically SHIELD, right down to the fucking airship base.
>>
>>152335174
Seriously. I have to think Treister would not have had the same attitude about teleportation
>Well HOT DAMN, son, ya cracked it! No fly wings or anythin?
>Shoot, start manufacturin' 'em up. Now you realize, we gots to do this all -secret- like. Caint just drop it on 'em like givin' a car to a caveman. But we'll trickle it in.
>Soon them towel-heads will be kissin' OUR brass ring if'n they wanna see snow once in a while.
>>
Are Doc and Jackson just living off residuals cause I thought I would have heard of something they’re working on by now
>>
>>152335208
Yea, OSI Hank could be amusing, and Rusty probably could twist Hunter's arm on that, but the school angle seems more Hank, and now that's he's less schizoid now thanks to the final coma world visit, he can probably get his act together a lot better. Would certainly be worth seeing since there's not much to do on the romance side aside from confront Sirena, and who even knows if he will or just cut his losses now that he's made up with Dean.
>>
>>152335180
you don't see a difference there, or a difference in the precedent set by other shows
>>152335225
how long has it been, 3 years?
Considering they worked on the show for -twenty fucking years straight-, I think they might want a break.
>>
>>152335215
Yeah totally agree about Eusty and the summit. I like the jab he threw at Jonas
>News flash, my dad was a shitty parent. That's why he made you duke it out in the pool.
>>
>>152335239
yeah no I think Sirena's gone the way of Triana. Things are way too fucked up there and she doesn't need that.
But she'll always remember A) that a genuinely sweet guy was sweet on her once, and B) that an even sweeter guy seemed sad and a pity lay destroyed the best thing that happened in her life, so.. y'know, don't do that again. That's gonna improve her outlook.
>>
>>152335225
Do they still work on other shows? I recall hearing how they apparently made a lot of money being script doctors or whatever, looking over scripts and helping iron out kinks and punch up the dialogue. Though that was back when they were still making VB, so maybe it changed.
>>
>>152335267
I would hire the SHIT out of them to doctor my scripts. Good lord, imagine. That's like having your car tuned up by John Chrysler.
>>
>>152335245
What precedent? There might have been a point where a lot of shows didn't change much from the TV to DVD release, but DVDs being uncensored and uncut has been a massive selling point for like 20 years now. Hell, Venture Bros made it a huge point that from the third season and on, you got the full experience on home media.
>>
>>152335265
Sirena literally ended up on the cutting room floor. Supposedly they were in the beginning of writing for the movie and wanted to include Sirena but decided they didn't have enough time. This was in the writing stage so she didn't even make it to storyboards.
>>
>>152335265
I suppose that's true. I'd imagine Hank might be willing to forgive her, since it seems like the thing he'd do even though he'd have every right to rip into her just as he briefly did Dean (well, his schizo personas that is). Probably would then have them part ways just because he's probably gonna have to find an apartment, or try to room with either Orpheus' team at their place or Horace's place (which would be a tight squeeze what with Billy and Pete in there). Unless Rusty somehow catches a break from the Helperpod fiasco and gets to build a second Ventech building, Hankinator ain't living it easy in an ivory tower no more.
>>
>>152335316
The fact that she does show up in flashes of Hank's mind at least suggests they have some idea in mind for her. Would hope they don't blow her off entirely like Triana, who we know kind of had to be dropped because of the IRL stuff with her actress. But no way to know unless the show somehow gets a second revival of sorts, either as a proper 8th season, or another movie.
>>

Blurays haven't gone anywhere, though it does seem like BD+DVD combos aren't as common and we're back to the days of one or both as options, unless it's a show that never got an HD release then it's likely to just be DVD only like all those classic Cartoon Network shows.

>>152335460
But it isn't. We're talking about how nudity is a thing done in a lot of adult cartoons. The DVD stuff is just about how it's generally uncensored. DVDs and Blurays not being as popular doesn't exactly factor in when they're still produced.
>>
>>152335474
i bought it on vudu or whatever. I think. I remember buying it. did I buy it? maybe I didn't. I should. Little late now, but not THAT late.
>>152335478
but you understand how it would factor in if I was right, right? Because how would you release it on DVD if those died.

and everyone I talk to agrees they died and they're gone now. Everyone's always talking about physical media with nostalgia, like remember that? having an actual object to put into a big box attached to your TV? so... yknow. go correct everyone, not just me.
>>
>>152335428
>so blu-ray died but DVD just waddled back in?
No, neither never left. Physical media is alive. But it does often get overshadowed by streaming and not everything makes it to DVD/Blue Ray.
>>
>>152335488
That makes no sense. For something to have died, it would have to cease entirely being a thing, and DVDs haven't stopped whatsoever in the 30 or so years they've been a thing, and Blurays and Ultra HD sets are often the go-to for people who don't want all their media on stupid streaming shit where some big wig can say "yea, no, we're not showing this show/movie anymore, tough noogies" at the drop of a hat.
>>
>>152335502
It usually does at some point, but definitely not as quick as it used to be. So far, I think it's only been a handful of original streaming shows that don't any media release, and even then it seems to be a tossup if it'll NEVER happen or just take like a year or two before it drops.
>>
>>152332703

am I having a stroke here? You understand what thinking is, right? I think DVD died, because everyone I've been around has told me so. You think it didn't, because you're still seeing and purchasing them. This is not complicated.
>>152335543
son if I knew that, I'd be doin it. I am so far out of touch, you could tell me there's a NEW physical medium, you could tell me fucking zipdrives came back, and I'd have no direct proof you were lying.

>>152335543
Just by going to more social events, like the one party he crashed to meet Christopher Lambert. He clearly has some decent skill if he managed to get friendly with that kind of godly talent. Shame his little play date fell apart, but hopefully he didn't get put in the box like that ex-villainous he tried to date and then stalked.
>>
>>152335560
That's your anecdotal experience though, and really getting off the main point of the entire conversation we were initially having.
>>
>>152335569
that was so sad, Lambert actually showed up and he couldn't get in.
>>152335577
all conversations are about our anecdotal experiences. Literally wondering, 'is this show doing more of it than others, or not?'
>>
>>152335604
More of what? The nudity? In terms of overall scenes, I'd say not nearly as much as what you'd get some other adult shows that have more seasons and general nudity scenes even if it wasn't full frontal. As I said before, VB was fairly restrained with its use of such scenes. They could have had Rusty's ding dong in a bunch of episodes, but thankfully kept it to a few instances. Likewise, they gave us Sheila's girls quite a few times, but never to the point that it felt overdone.

He wanted a clone body and mind transfer. Which from what we can tell, probably isn't quite up Rusty's alley. Yes, he has the "memories" of the boys in the beds and those machines in his lab, but that probably requires a lot of setup, and Rusty of course is using tech he didn't build. Jonas probably could have done it, since he seemed to have it all sorted out when he was readying to hijack Morpho's body, have Rusty cook up a clone, and then have Billy move his mind in, possibly using Morpho's brain instead of copying memories all over again.

>then repressed his memories and made up the Phantom Space Man, possibly now being what he called Vendata/Morpho
I'm of the belief it was Red Death that wound up becoming Phantom Space-man in his mind. He had the space-suit and helmet on the whole time and was the only one in the hangar who genuinely survived. He probably made his way back to the station and got in through an airlock and Bud probably caught a general look of his face through the visor with the light hitting it right. It's not impossible given his face that a jackass kid like Manstrong would come to that kind of conclusion.

This episode made me learn more about Andy Warhol, turns out the real version is worse

Words fail to explain how great of a couple Dr Mrs The Monarch and The Monarch are. They clearly love and understand each other, flaws and all. Possibly the best couple I've seen in media
>>
>>152335225
As much as I love this show, it might be too niche for them to live off of residuals. Chances are they are just taking some time to breathe and do anything else after something like 20 years making one show. I do look forward to anything they might do next. Although they could either join the con grifters or probably teach animation.

>>152335267
Maybe? I would believe it. But at the same time, a lot of what makes the dialogue in VB work is that it's just the two of them talking to each other about nerd stuff they love and writing it down. So I have no idea how well they could help other shows.

>>152336899
Brock had his Killpocalypse with the end of Season 7 where he kills a lot of the Guild's best mooks. It's a good enough good bye and unfortunately I think a final murder spree from Brock would have taken too much time away from the rest of the story.

That's one of the interesting things between the real world figures and their supervillain counterparts. Like Henry Kissinger being Henry Killinger. Kissinger makes war, Killinger makes love.

>Sweeeeet-love!
>>
>>152337555
And somehow that is the most intimidating sentence in the entire show. Not the shit Brock pulls, Red Death's threat against The Monarch, not anything Jonas said, this is the single most threatening statement of someone about to get their shit rocked because you realize she's going to beat your ass until her body can't take it and just took some meds to make it take longer.

It might have just been them poking fun at the weird Dr. Dooms seen in the pre-MCU movies, where for some goddamn reason he keeps turning into Colossus with fire powers. That said, I would like to see Victor show up again, he was really helping Dean find that not all science is bad road.

Training and discipline. A lot of discipline. Also, to be fair regarding his time as "the bat" on that island, he got as far as he did largely because he made good use of the element of surprise. In an outright open confrontation, he'd be pretty useless. He doesn't have the brute force necessary to back himself up. He may not ever be Brock level (because who possibly could be?), but he can channel that energy, with the right guidance, to be pretty damn competent. His ADHD will always be his greatest obstacle in that regard. Assuming he has got a hold on his dissociative identity disorder.
>>
>>152344561
If he bulked up some, he could be a pretty decent Bat, who can go into situations just head on. Hank just needs to avoid getting "into character" like he used to. While "The Bat" is now forever in coma world, Hank's probably still susceptible to flights of fancy if he's not too careful. Debbie's mostly on the ball, but it's easy to see her influence on Hank, which means the craziness is genetic.

You'd be surprised. Strength = muscle tension. Strength =/= mass. There are twigs out there who can absolutely wreck body builders because there's a difference between training for strength and training for aesthetics.
> just needs to be in good shape and able to rely on his own physical strength
He needs to rely on skill. Strength can help but skill is more useful. That's why Brock is so deadly. He's a unique combination of both crazy strength and high-skill. It's why he's the sweedish murder machine. The slayer of henchmen par-excellence!
>>152345991
>he's still interested in like, useful regular science.
Which, as pointed out before, he's not even good at. Journalism might be his thing. That I could see as him successfully pouring his passion into, whilst still being occasionally touching back into the super-science/hero/spy/villain shit to continued comedic effect despite his efforts to stay away from it because there's no way you'd be a journalist in that world and not have to touch onto that crap.

>His teacher seemed to think he had what it takes to do simple, peaceful science.

Would be a great group cosplay. No matter how gangly or out of shape you are, you can have a place in the Monach's army of henchmen. Which, now that I think about it, it is kinda interesting how he never actually gave a name to his henchmen. They are his fluttering horde, but individually they're not like, winglets or butterflies or what have you. They are just henchmen with numbers. I guess in his own words, they are just henchmen, all the distinction they need is that they follow the Monarch.

>The more we learned about the guild, the less effective it seemed.
I think over the years, they did well to establish that like, 90% of the guild's function is to be a daycare for the psychotically obsessive. Legally speaking, there seems to be an understanding that actually cracking down on this shit in full would just lead to antagonists genuinely acting like psychotic supervillains and be a far larger danger to society, so the Guild is ostensibly allowed to set up arches to keep things pretty well contained. Their very purpose is to limit, or at least direct, the effectiveness of villains.

It's only when you get into the upper echelons that you start to get to the real Guild, where the hands that guide the strings of controlled mayhem are plotting their shit. Deploying and supporting arches as fits their larger plots, using them as a way to also find other true villains that they can absorb into their ranks.

Honestly the only real difference with Sheila is that she seems to wholeheartedly believe in the daycare function of the GCI, without being ignorant about what that is nor being unwilling to dip into the clandestine secret control stuff. Like she actually wants the Guild to function like a guild instead.
>>
>>152347055
It makes sense once we've seen his backstory with Phantom Limb. his numbered Shadowmen seemed like a functional enough idea, but he wasn't gonna give them such a goofy name.
I do love how though he refers to them as henchmen, when he ADDRESSES them, they are MINIONS. he thinks they like that better.
>>152347178
Something that becomes more relevant with each passing year. just substitute psychotic supervillain with world leaders. whatever, let them play their stupid games, it's easier than if we fought back.

>>152336652
Rusty definitely had more than just the memories of the boys. Souls n' hell n' magic n' shit are all very much real in the VB universe, and Dr. O wholly identified the boys' souls to be between worlds and properly tethered back to their bodies. But yeah like you said: the amount of setup required is probably beyond what Rusty could do--although I wouldn't put him too far out. Ben didn't seem to want to downplay Rusty's contributions to the cloning process in the slightest.
>since he seemed to have it all sorted out when he was readying to hijack Morpho's body
Well, he was specifically trying to hijack Venturion, which was already 90% robotics anyways. The mind transfer probably could've been genuinely literal, whether over the data connection or just physically putting Jonas' brain in where it goes on Venturion.
>>
>>152346749
why would I google it

I know for a fact bruce lee wouldn't be stopped from kicking the crap out of a guy just because that guy happened to be six inches taller than him, you fucking rube
>>
>>152347219
>he wasn't gonna give them such a goofy name
I mean, it IS the Monarch. He's a guy with a butterfly motiff and his giant flying fortress is a cocoon instead. That being said, yeah that's what I like as well: he just thinks that being henchmen and minions is glorious enough in its own right, even if that glory is decidedly still being, you know, a henchmen.

Honestly, it's a pretty good way to sum up his character. You'd think a dumbass like The Monarch would call the Henchmen his "Flutterboys" or something else equally silly, but he won't because Henchman don't deserve something as familiar and buddy-sounding as that, yet he also is so wholly sold on villainy that he thinks being called a Henchman is something they should appreciate while also understanding how entirely undignified it is.

Given that, at a certain point, we are completely within the physical world, it seems plausible that there is a part of the brain that connects to the soul (my guess is the neocortex). Like in that comic "Demon." So it makes some sense that if you had a perfectly flawless clone body, and it even has their physical memories fed back into it, your soul would just find its way back to that body and reinhabit it, as sure as putting back on your comfortable old pair of shoes.

Now warped-clone Dean throws a wrench into that, but he's clearly kinda his own separate guy, so his soul wouldn't recognize a Dean clone to inhabit anyway. He never got the memory programming, none of it.

also god damn do I both love and hate how the Venture Compound is apparently so poorly-monitored that they just keep finding huge areas of it that nobody has entered for decades. Not just underground bunkers but fuckin.. the attic?

>>152347277
also: while he was initially all-in on the butterfly theme, Sheila was the one to suggest he riff on the 'monarch' part and be more of a king, so at that point.. what does a king have? well, subjects, knights, but surely MINIONS. he's their fucking MONARCH and they're gonna do his bidding without the need to be his sidekicks.
which is why Gary's ultimate fate becomes kind of amazing. Fuck Scott Hall, Gary truly is Henchman Number One.

>Ben didn't seem to want to downplay Rusty's contributions to the cloning process in the slightest.
Rusty had no contributions to the cloning tech beyond being a guinea pig. I think people seem to misunderstand what Ben was talking about. He (Ben) and Jonas developed the tech. When he mentioned Rusty he was speaking about what it's application is for, to which Rusty indeed did use it for what it was made to do. I.E., fix really big boo-boos (provided Jonas wasn't actually just developing it for himself to be immortal). Rusty never had a hand in it's development as by the time he was a teenager he was too full on in rebelling against Jonas. He wouldn't have wanted to be helping with the tech and it was probably finished by the time he was in college.

Action Johnny unrelated.
>>
>>152348093
The stupid legal bullshit from the idiots at Warner fucking indian-giving with rights actually kinda works pretty well. the 'real guy' is Action Johnny, and Johnny Quest was the name of his cartoon. That's also presumably how he met Mystery Inc. At like, a convention for people who had their lives made into cartoons. Possibly therapy.
>>
>>152348220
>the 'real guy' is Action Johnny, and Johnny Quest was the name of his cartoon.
That might've been the case were it not for that he's literally introduced as going by the Quest name. He is Johnny Quest just as Dr. Z is Dr. Zin. They just had to stop being addressed as such for the legal bullshit but otherwise they are 100% meant to be who they are. Even Race Bannon appeared. Granted, he died, but still.
>>
>>152348305
sure, I'm just saying, in their world, the guy's actual adventures, the stuff that appeared in the news, almost certainly labeled it as like
>"ACTION JOHNNY PREVENTS SABOTAGE - Benton Quest and his son Johnny were involved in a daring raid on a platoon of frogmen last night, and heroically replaced all of their oxygen tanks with NAPALM tanks, preserving our freedom for another day."

and then that got sanitized and made into a 'johnny quest' cartoon episode.
>>
>>152348356
Oh, so you mean like the Johnny Quest cartoon that exists in real life over there is just like the more romanticized/marketable interpretations of Johnny and Dr. Quests' actual adventures similar to how the Rusty Venture Show is the same for Jonas Sr. and Team Venture's?
>>
>>152348495
exactly.
In being forced to change what they call those characters, Warner inadvertently kinda added another layer of reality to the characters in VB, who are clearly not the same as how their fame would portray them.
Also back then it was really common for shows to go by multiple names, like the first run would be one thing, then when it was sold into syndication, the title would change. Because reruns weren't a thing yet, they wanted it to seem new.
