How did this show become such a big fuck-up? An adaptation of USM should have been the most straightforward shit in the world and it had Paul Dini and Man of Action behind

>How did this show become such a big fuck-up?
Man of Action are hacks, Loeb and Quesada made those shitty ideas worse.

The decision to have Spider-Man lead a bunch of teenage heroes in this show always struck me as a "Teen Titans and Young Justice were very popular shows for DC, let's imitate that!".

I can't say it for certain, but the way it's set-up in the show (as a division of SHIELD) and how it tried to balance comedy and action (poorly) always have me the impression they were imitating those two shows in particular.

>Man of Action are hacks,
Nope

it was a toy commercial made by the kinds of people who regularly ree about things being toy commercials because 'capitalism bad!'

the art was super high quality but the writing was deliberately lobotomized, as if to make some statement

I wish someone understood
it's much, much more interesting for your focus character to be one who JOINS a team, and has to deal with his new co-workers and his new boss. Invincible glossed past that pretty quickly, but for that brief moment it was truly interesting.
No kid can identify with being a leader, because nobody alive today will ever hold even the slightest power over another person. But their minds can be exercised a bit by showing how someone plays within the rules. Spidey's ALWAYS had that kind of dynamic, since, while he doesn't officially work for anyone (except when he's an Avenger), he has guys like SHIELD and the FF whom he looks up to and wants to please, but still ultimately has to do shit his own way.
in the 90s when he crossed over with X-men and wanted Xavier's help on mutation reversal.. then just told them to fuck off.. that was pretty cool. It's too bad Beast didn't bring up "I tried that once, it kinda backfired. be careful"

this show looks nothing like Man of Action's style. The anatomy is way better and the faces are way worse

>let's make Spider-man a sidekick in his own show

that's not what happened, that's what should happen

Are you a little old for cartoons?
