What makes Absolute Batman work? Is it his savagery contrasting mainline Batman? His friend group? The over the top absurdness/body horror of his foes? The fact that he's Batman despite having far less resources/gimmicks than his counterpart?
>>152322584Nothing, really. It's just flavor of the month garbage that's not worth keeping you with or rereading. That annual also displayed some serious political ignorance. Book doesn't deserve the praise it gets
>>152322644>It's just flavor of the month garbage/co/trarian bullshit at its finest
>>152322584This feels like a kid's drawing pretending it's mature and deep and edgy and cool, except the kid is 40 years old
>>152322584It doesn't work it just flies by on pure retardium
>>152322682How's that contrarian. It's a Scott Snyder Batman comic. Everything he writes is garbage eaten up exclusively by normies and secondaries
>>152322644>>152322584Absolute works because its a new universe and action heavy. That's it. It's not extremely well written or anything it's just doing the bare minimum to grab new readers attention that mainline doesn't.
Look no offense but I think Absolute Batman is mostly enjoyed by black people. I don't like saying it but it's true. Lots of 'black nerd' hood weeb types talk about it and pretend it's like anime.
>>15232286180% of the world is brown or black, like it or not comics have to appeal to them like anime does, that means being simple and action heavy with preferably some sex appeal.
>>152322778I love how you pretend no one eats up the story times on here. Believe what you want
>>152322584I just can't take FatBat seriously.
>>152322584it doesnt work. the numbers are self reported and fake and no one outside tiny subset of comic book fans know wtf this trash even is. literal dog shit with more speculator covers and gacha grab bags than actual fucking pages in the issues. a literal joke. like bad parody of speculator boom and 90s and they sold millions back then. not thousands of this garbage.
>>152322907/co/ is filled to the brim with casuals and wokefags. Who cares if they eat this slop up?
Absolute Cringe
Most threads like these end up with some schizo samefagging and laughing as they throw every bait under the sun while attacking literally any take, positive or negative. It's just some kid, you can tell from the lack of subtlety
>>152323046Yeah I can tell. I really do miss the poster count
>>152322584Literally it's cause he's batman, but bigger. Why do you think Space Marines, halo Spartans, and battle tech elementals so popular. Cause they are humans, but bigger.
>>152322584The main batbook has sucked for so long plus Snyder having a cult following who think he can do no wrong plus DC'third attempt at an Ultimate line finally not sucking as hard as All Star and Earth 1
It's just a fresh universe with Batman early in his career in a month ongoing with a strong creative team. People have wanted this since the first Ultimate Marvel series 20+ years ago.
>>152323124Fraction's current Batman book seems to be alright. I like it more than Zdarsky's
>>152322584why is he so fat? he's looks faggy and breedable. is this why he's so popular?
>>152322682only a minority of the global populace read comics, if anything, you're the contrarian for glazing absolute gay batman
>>15232333310th printing
>>152323396>Regurgitated woke capeshit dominating comics Bit of a self own
>>152323427>WokeJust grasping at anything, huh? Thanks for the bump by the way
>>152322584Like what >>152323147said he's just another batman in another universe that it's world is fleshed out instead of being "Batman but he's wearing a Somero".I put him in the same vein as Noir Spider-Man but with a bigger world.
>>152322584Because it's COOL and has a simple starting point. People like cool things and they don't like to be made to work for their entertainment. The fucking mess of comics jumping between titles to follow a story is pure retardation. Anyone that defends that is a shill or a retard.Back to the fact that it's COOL, practically all superhero comics should be fucking cool, and almost none of them are. It seems a portion of the superhero comics readership is a bunch of old men who don't like or know what cool is. They're allergic to things being mindless fun or badass. >>152322778>normies and secondariesshould be the target audience of mainstream superhero comics.
I do appreciate the versatility of the cape. But what if he loses a knife? Is he just going to walk around with one ear like an asshole?
Ultimate Spider-Man and Absolute Batman both became big when they first came out because the audience is starved and jumped on them. I feel like this says far more about the feelings of the audience and the state of the industry than it does about the actual comics themselves. Both mainline Batman and Spider-Man have starved their audience so much that people were looking for an alternative. Of course, Ultimate Marvel got majorly cucked and wasn't allowed to run its course or breathe. Absolute universe comics are just doing big obvious jumping in points but ultimately they are just another elseworlds. It is blockbuster comics, action, alternate takes on things. Ultimate Marvel got cucked in part because of behind the scenes worries that it might overtake the mainline series but Absolute seems to be avoiding that worry currently.
>>152324538Actually DC is doing pretty well lately
>>152324840>Actually DC is doing pretty well latelyI never said they weren't doing well? I was more talking about how the audience are starved for specific things that alternate universe takes give them. Marvel still sells more than DC overall by market share. DC have done well with Absolute Batman. One big problem is that the only organisation looking at sales these days tends to be ICv2. ICv2 base their information on 125 stores (out of like 3000) in a non random survey and then their information gets picked up by other comic book clickbait sites who create a picture that "DC is beating Marvel" because, by ICv2's survery figures, Absolute Batman makes up a lot of the top 20 books of last year. Absolute Batman is doing well. DC are doing better compared to recent years with the rest of Absolute and All-In. Marvel's recent event offerings have been quite meh, but it still comes out overall on top.
