Why did this show look so cheap and lazy? It desperately wanted to be a 60s/70s cartoon. There was very little effort put into the animation.
>>152333557>look so cheap and lazycompared to what?
>>152333557Are you referring to the original run or the Savino seasons?
>>152333821Both. The Genndy seasons that people praise so much literally look like a 60s/70s cartoon. It's so cheaply made that even a 12 year old could probably make a show like Dexter. Chowder, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Camp Lazlo, Courage, Ed Edd n Eddy, Billy and Mandy, Kids Next Door, Foster's, and Flapjack look much better and took a lot more effort to make
>>152333868Dude rewatch the Genndy Seasons. They are excellent and have suprisingly good animation for TV.https://youtu.be/hUq9x1HBzfU?si=Lk9uVWWyEPwtiSGW
>>152333868>The Genndy seasons that people praise so much literally look like a 60s/70s cartoon>the cartoon that took heavy inspiration from Tex Avery and Hanna-Barbera looks like a 60s/70s cartoonHoly shit stop the fucking presses
>>152333557I just want 2009 Cartoon Network to be preserved. That's why I'm bashing on 2001 Cartoon Network. That and because I didn't grow up with 2001 Cartoon Network. I grew up with 2007-2009 Cartoon Network as my sweet spot. I just want more of the Noods and Fall is Something Grownups Invented era to be preserved onto the Internet.
>>152333949It aired in the late 90s dude, there's no excuse for it to look so old
>>152333949Dexter's Lab would not look out of place if it came out in the 60s and was the same that it was in the 90s. It's basically a 60s cartoon that happened to premiere in 1996.
>>152333557It's because Jack Warner fucking hated TV animation, even more than Walt Disney, so when the cable boom happened in his honor they spent all of their money on a Michael Jordan Looney Tunes movie and trying (and failing) to replicate the Disney Renaissance.
>>152333821>>152333886I've seen a couple of threads over the past few days with similar OPs. It's either a severe autist or just a troll. Either way, don't engage.
>>152334232Honestly it feels like a bunch of random no life weirdos have some irrational grudge towards Genndy this week.
>>152334232I just want late 2000s (which is far superior to early 2000s CN) Cartoon Network to be preserved. It had far better shows like Chowder, Flapjack, and Total Drama Island.
>>152333557>>152333868Go fuck yourself
>>152333557I hate you so much
>>152334853>>152335810Struck a nerve?
>>152333997The late '90s was 30 years ago, man.
I like the way cartoonstitute shorts looked
>>152333868>Regular ShowNo.
>>152339051Yes
I'm so happy that Savino got fucked up and blacklisted. Worthless talentless faggot.
>>152333949Well, The Wacky World of Tex Avery was also made in the 90s, also took heavy inspiration from Tex (obviously) and ended up spitting on his grave because DIC(k) made it instead of WB.Fuck you Robby London and DIC
>far superior to early 2000s cartoon networkAnon, that had lots of good shows>Ed Edd n Eddy>Dexter’s Laboratory>Courage>Codename: Kids Next Door>Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy>Johnny Bravo>Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends>Evil Con Carne>Whatever Happened to… Robot Jones?>Time Squad>Sheep in the Big CityIf anything, Johnny Test is what caused CN’s decline.>>152333868>shitting on good cartoonsKill yourself already, worthless talentless hack.
>>152333557You should give a gun a blowjob and then pull the trigger
>>152338101Kill yourself
>>152333557Shut up, you waste of air.
>>152333557Die out
Because it was made by Hanna Barbera.

>>152333557>There was very little effort put into the animation.First 2 seasons were made using traditional cel animation. You don't even know what you're saying.
>>152333557Because animation isn't a story of linear progress
>>152333557They had to make 39 half hours in a little over a year. Even with limited animation, that's a tall order. Genndy himself mentioned in an interview how he lost two girlfriends during production because he was so dedicated to making the show work. Season 1 had a budget, season 2 did not, and you'll notice that very clearly in how the show is paced, but it works in its favor cause people still like it to this day. Also the amount of talent that worked on that show that later went on to do their own shows was unreal. So many artists later went to do other things. >Butch Hartman - Fairly Oddparents>Seth MacFarlane - Family Guy>Craig Kellman - Character design for movies like Madagascar>Craig McCracken - Powerpuff Girls, Foster's, Wander Over Yonder, Kid Cosmic>Paul Rudish - Mickey Mouse Shorts>Chris Battle - Middlemost Post>Chris Savino - Various CN and Nickelodon projects, and then The Loud HouseI can't think of any other show with that kind of influence.

>>152333557The show does try to look like a 70s cartoon but the animation ain't cheap, they use the simple style to make the animation more dynamic.
>>152346477
>>152347739Show me this "dynamic animation" you speak of...
