His art/storytelling was so ASS people stopped caring about interiors, they focused on covers instead and Marvel tried to take advantage of that. Lee or McFarlane are good examples of the exact opposite but they started a trend Liefeld ended up overusing which is overloading pages with bullshit making it almost impossible to digest even the most simple stories
