This rocked. Updating Jabberjaw to be ska worked weirdly well, it had a ton of charm. Even worked with the whole band and nautical themes and characters from the actual cartoon, but did them way better (though I don't hate the original).

I was going to ask "think they could make it an actual series now that 2000s nostalgia is a thing?", but I don't think I'd actually like what would turn out if that happened.

I am curious how the "Rodney Dangerfield" thing would work in a more fleshed-out series though. Love the fella, he gets plenty respect from me.

I grew up watching Boomerang for most of my early childhood in the late 2000s/early 2010s (CN was off limits except on weekends) watching stuff like this on a daily basis with no real commercials felt so strange, like the channel was some sort of insanity test.

Late 90s-Late 2000s CN had real HB animation nerds in positions of power who used their power to push a very "fan" vision of the channel.
Everything from old cartoon callbacks to the various crossover bumpers are signs of nerds who were having fun and executives that let them.
While I don't doubt that more nerds existed at CN by the Noods era the fans were no longer able to pitch direction to management.
