When we first meet her she speaks Mexican and only switches to English so Blue can understand her. But then in the sequel when we meet her family and go to where she grew up, everyone just speaks English by default and no one is speaking Mexican.

Rio is genuinely a really charming and solid film with some great music and just insanely likable and charming characters. It's just a film that puts me in a good mood when I watch it. It's sequel is genuinely deserving of its negative reputation though and Blu deserves all the OC bird waifus cause Jewel and her family sucks in that film compared to how solid a lead she was in the first.
