Hanna Barbera characters are actually really strong concepts and character personalities, but have really bad writing around them that never matched up to potential.
You can take a number of the 50s/60s animal characters, get some decent writers and rework the concept slightly, and make actual great content. They did that with Secret Squirrel, they could with HKP
