Bloomberg has reported Josh D’Amaro will be the next Disney CEO, to be confirmed this week and replacing Bob Iger by the end of the year.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-02-02/disney-board-is-close-to-picking-parks-chief-d-amaro-as-next-ceo
Fuck. I wanted to be the next Disney CEO. I was going to bring back Fantasia.
>not a jewish last namehuh
>>152347165Does this mean they're bringing back 2D animation and romance stories?
>chairman of the theme parks division since 2020>Genie+ / Lightning Lane>Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge>Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser>replaced Splash Mountain with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure>drained Tom Sawyer Island for Cars>California Adventure Spider-Man ride>demolished Muppets 3D>replacing Dinosaur USA with EncantoI know they want to hire someone from the inside, but is the Star Wars hotel guy really the best they could come up with?
>>152347240Star Wars Hotel was planned and started construction before his time, he is just the one who got put in when it finally opened and had to deal with Iger/Chapeks shitheep
>>152347267Yeah and Splash Mountain was gonna be replaced regardless, at the very least the theming.
>>152347240This asshole also raised prices at DisneyWorld after people were complaining about being priced out. He's a jew in spirit which is why Iger chose him.
>>152347128congrats to him i guess
>>152347240Wasn't it Iger who mandated that all attractions be a movie tie-in of some type?
>>152347597It's incredibly confusing that the parks can be near max capacity every single day of the year, while Disney still whines about how they are somehow losing money on them. They have 4 parks in Florida and 2 in California that have frequent blackout dates due to reaching capacity fast almost every single week. Yet they are also not making enough money and need to constantly raise prices.
>>152347240I always thought the Tiana retheme was spearheaded by Bob Iger. He never did like Song of the South and was probably looking for an excuse to get rid of the ride.
>>152349299When does disney whine about losing money on the parks? The parks are generally their bread and butter that makes them most of their money in the financial reports.Having said that>>152347597There are 2 ways to deal with being at capacity:You either increase the cost, which quick and easy with the goal being to drive customers away which is only slightly better than having to turn customers away because you are at capacity.Or you increase capacity. In terms of increasing capacity i'm not really sure how that works for the parks, Magic kingdom has the Piston Peak and Villain land areas being added on but what does that mean for capacity? Animal kingdom is replacing Dinoland with Encanto/Indiana Jones theming is that a 1:1 on capacity or will it increase or even decrease capacity? No idea.I think they area also planning on building out a new park but i'm not sure if that plans been dropped or not
>>152349284Nope
>>152347240The parks and the hotels are were disney maks most of its money so it makes sense from a pure business perspective to pick people from that side of the company rather than animation or films
>>152349299Think of it like your rich friend saying they don’t make enough to live, when they really mean they want a more luxurious lifestyle or extra spending money without dipping into savings or getting a new job. It’s a fundamentally unsustainable economic model - line goes up every year.
>>152349299The parks are not losing money. They make a shitload of profit. Apparently 6x the amount the film/tv/streaming division does. The problem is cable died and that used to be Disney's big money making cheat (everyone in the country/1 billion worldwide pays you just for having your channel on cable regardless of watching, before ads, without even thinking it) so now it is parks and cruises. They profit, but now they have to make the continued quarterly profit increases go up. They have to fund the bombs on the movie side, the ai investments, the Fox acquisition, the streaming originals until they caught up with the subscriber count. Something cable could do with simple fees increase, something the parks if they do will be noticed since they are an individual direct experience. So if you see the lightning lane, price increases, and general cuts shittery happen that is because the parks in the US hit their cap growth potential, so the only way to make the line go up is charge more or cut costs for as long as the consumer could accept it. They could remove LL entirely, cut prices by a third, even pay more and they would still profit. But that is not enough when you are now the backbone of the entire company
>>152349538Well who did?
>>152347128According to some other report people on disnehy say he's "the best boss they've had" so at the very least he seems competent and efficient.
>>152351749lol you poor innocent soul
>>152350646We're already set for another depression and I feel it will create a bunch of Luigis if these companies get bailed out again for causing it
New NYP report is they are voting Tuesday/Wednesday so expect Wednesday official announcement
>>152347165Looks like Disney is going to get hurt bad in the near future and they need a fall guy
>>152347165Chapek was a catholic
>>152347128Okay...
