How come kids don't watch cartoons anymore? All they watch is short form brainrot on YouTube and TikTok. That's the reason why stuff like pic related don't have a lot of views on YouTube, because they require you to pay attention rather than rotting your brain.

ease of access.
Back in the day, tv was for watching, computer was for school or gaming.
Nowadays kids (or their parents) just put on youtbe for instant free content
>>
>>152347512
Because it isn't in the algo

If it's drawn, it's dead to Google, they HATE animated content of any variety even 3D

Because modern animators don't know how to animate stuff like classic Tom and Jerry.
>>
>>152347512
Is there a reason why? For example, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi videos on YouTube don't get much views because kids don't watch cartoons anymore.
>>
>>152347512
Cause kids don think no more all they gots is tik tok and gram

can you HHPAY people fuck off for God's sake, if I wanna have a conversation about a cartoon with the word Puff in the title, I'm gonna talk about the one with the red bow wearing girl who I want to be dominated by

What's the play here? No internet for your kids until they're 10-12? Maybe strictly monitored, limited time, use until then? Still monitored after that, but not as strictly.

Raising kids nowadays seems rough. Can't just hide the internet from them completely, and even if you tried they'd just see things with their friends.

I don’t think the average kid even knows about that show anymore, it might as well have fallen into obscurity
>>
>>152347512
because they stopped making cartoons for children
>>
>>152347921
Kids don't know about any cartoons anymore though. That's the problem. They only know brainrot content.
>>

>How come kids don't watch cartoons anymore?
All of the cartoons became 20-something Californian millennial creators' therapy hugboxes and were perceived as lame as hell by all kids.
Remember how kids in the 90s and 2000s saw stuff like Captain Planet as hokey and cringe? That was every cartoon for the past decade. Cartoons became bland, unexciting, edgeless outlets for people who think they have problems to project them out into the world instead of making something a kid would reasonably enjoy.
This didn't happen with video games. This didn't happen with YouTube. This didn't even happen with pre-school content, which still sells to kids and has an audience. The only reason kids don't watch cartoons anymore, and why we don't get any at all now, is because fresh CalArts grads cared more about making things about their emotions than making things that were fun and cool for kids.

i read this in his voice and i imagine him complaining to ami and yumi about it
>>
>>152347512
Why don't kids watch cartoons now? Why do they prefer TikTok and YouTube brainrot?
>>
>>152347512
Because modern cartoons arent really made for kids. Theyre made for emotionally arrested grown men trying to both relive their childhoods and legitimize kids cartoons as a legitimate form of entertainment for adults. Its extremely sad in a way. These men just dont grow up.

All these old men are pushing kids out of something made for children. Just like what happened to the comic books industry in the 90's. I remember being a little kid and getting muscled out and priced out of buying new issues of spiderman and x-men by 20-30 year olds with disposable income. I remember when comics went from less than a dollar to over five dollars in a single night. And what happened next? The comic book crash.

The same situation is happening with toys like legos. Most modern legos are bereft of any imaginations. It's either all hyper detailed lego sets for the adult lego fan. Or ugly and disgustingly pastel colored kids sets. And both are expensive as fuck. I went to buy my nephew a birthday gift and some of these lego sets were just off putting to me. The colors were all wrong. They were dark and depressing. The only vibrant colors were in the sets not made for boys. I knew I wouldn't like these legos as a kid. So I didn't buy them for my nephew and got him hotwheels instead.

Nobody in the big cable channels are making cartoons or cartoon toys.
For every 1 major cartoon being made (with no toys) here's 10 online catroons with merch for sale.
I mean compare the amount of mascot horror plushies are in a walmart compared to any big cartoon show.

>The Fungies! is set in a prehistoric and mythological metropolis of Fungietown in a strange prehistoric world inhabited by some fungi-looking creatures and occasional dinosaurs. The series follows the adventures of Seth, one of the town's young mushroom inhabitants, whose love for scientific adventures often ends up with him stirring trouble with the local inhabitants and learning to understand others.

>How come kids don't watch cartoons anymore?

Because their parents cut cable and tv to save money.

Dumb parents really think they are being thrifty and no harm will come from consuming reels all day
>>
>>152347512
Because for the last 10 or so years cartoons are only made for weird 20 somethings, not kids.

Did Kaz even have much of a part in the show? It felt like Ami and Yumi were the only two characters in about 50% of the time.

My brother in law is so depressed with his two boys.
They don't want to watch any Disney movie because they don't care for animation and they actually told him that if it's over 15 minutes then they can't sit through it...

They are 6 and 10 and it's pretty much the result of their dumb parents shoving tablet to their face since they were 2

kids these days were raised by youtube so anything over 2 minutes long is mentally drenched in ad interruptions. it costs less attention to follow influencer talking heads so they never formed the habit of focusing on a narrative. using them for advertising revenue was worth more to us than their developing brains or futures. and big business hates cartoons because they represent the human spirit
>>
>>152347512
1. Kids these days have more options for things to watch than we did back then, so it's only natural their interests would be more widespread.
2. Cartoons have sucked complete ass for the last decade and some change, and if that was your introduction to cartoons no sane person would be interested in them.
3. Even in the old days most cartoons were half-assed junk that you only watched because you were waiting for the good stuff to come on, your OP being the perfect example.

I'm sure someone already said this but cartoons take awhile to produce but kids are now tuned toward shortform content which... no one's really doing other than buzz feed. Every other studio decided that it's easier to make advertising shorts with existing IP rather than something new. Chikn Nuggit is clearly successful and HAS developed a kid audience as well as put merch out people actually want to buy but no one has tried replicating its success. I think cartoons can still exist in a short form world because people are making bank off of re-uploading family guy/American dad/simpsons shit onto YouTube unofficially as shorts. To me this feels like an untapped market of potential shit. Buzzfeed knows this but they haven't expanded into making shorts that aren't cutesy shit. As far as I'm aware no other studios are making short cartoons with a following, however some indie creators evidently are and bank off it. Goomymufgin being the only one I can think of right now but I know there's others

TLDR, things have shifted to being online and the studio heads are stupid and still trying to do things the old way that literally not one of the big studios yet have tried to adapt to where the kids actually are watching shit, youtube shorts and tiktok. At least that's what I think.

Evidently kids also like Digital Circus and Skibidi brainrot whatever but I think studios are too afraid to make stuff like that also. But they're all hurting themselves in the long run by not taking risks on new ideas since less people are gonna be interested in them. I know I am. I hate this drought of content

Shortform cartoons wouldnt be satisfying enough. Kids just need to get off tiktok and corpos need to make good 30 min shows again

brainrot content is specifically made to trigger the same dopamine receptors as unboxing videos or sensory slime videos. They don't have to think or even be aware or lucid while watching, it just tickles their brain while they zone out and dissociate.

for us, the dopamine comes from engaging with the show- a big reveal, a payoff, a funny moment, whatever- but these brainrot things just bypass all that.

If you take kids off of this shit, nothing else matters to them as much, and they scream and cry like an addict.

further, I think part of the fun of watching these shows was talking about it with your friends, or going online to chat about it, and now that that's next to impossible with the complete collapse of community-minded social media- tumblr, livejournal, twitter, discussion forums, etc have all been destroyed. It's entirely a one-way street for consumption and so when a show is mildly cerebral there's nobody to talk about it with.

and further even than that.... where do they watch it? television? they come home from school, do 4 hours of homework, scroll tiktok and then go to bed. A lot of these cartoons are impossible to watch if they're not on netflix. If they are, they drop all at once and again, there's no way to discuss that with anybody, because you cant until they watch it all or you spoil it for them.

there's a lot of reasons OP, in the end it's just capitalism and greed

I don't know, I'm just thinking to those cringey birthday videos that have digital circus characters in them. And I was in the mall earlier this week and walked past a hot topic and they had digital circus merch out front the store window. I hate to possibly assume that all kids aren't able to sit through it but last I remember my nephew can't even sit through kid animated movies so i dont know. It could just be popular on the meme side of things. I assume older kids watch it, I mean those that watch it probably also are the type to play through Dandy's World, and that game requires you to sit for at least an hour to do a proper run
>>152350485
Yea well, good luck getting an entire generation that grew up normalizing shorts to stop looking at them.
