The details are not very clear in my head anymore since there were several retcons that came together at the time which lead to Knull, but IIRC Knull's existence got used to partially explain and partially retcon the whole Klyntar situation which came from Venom Space Knight, which was more or less the sequel to Agent Venom. It was really stupid to begin with and the Knull retcon didn't make it any less stupid, just stupid in a different way.Look it up if you want the details, I don't care to try and remember them.
