The "zombie" seasons haven't bothered me up until these last few specifically because• not everyone needs to be paired up/coupled with someone and I really don't like that they're doing this; same reason I have a love/hate feeling towards the US version of Ghosts• I don't care about the nobody characters and their backstories. The mayor's dad's immigration story is stupid. I don't care that Ralph's mother has a past. Moe's own backstory has been changed so many times that I'm tired of keeping track. Stop that. • Ending Apu's run was one of the dumbest decisions ever. They could have kept him going with even my shitty writing skills: have his Aziz Ansari-voiced nephew come back for another episode and have a short throwaway gag where he says some shit like "eyy yo, unc, why do you do that accent when you're around the wypipo? It's embarrassing!" and have Apu reply in a Minnesota hausfrau accent that white people are stupid and expect that shit donchaknow. Think Bobby's mom from Bobby's World, except a dude. That would put the joke onto the whites rather than the Indians. You can even make it a moralistic episode where Aziz's character loses his shit over it a la Lisa and everyone learns a lesson that accents are nothing to be ashamed of and Jews did 9/11. And that's another thing• moralistic episodes were never subtle but Jesus fucking Christ, they talk directly at the audience now. I forgot the episode but there was one from last year where Mr Burns and others talk to the fourth wall about how capitalism is bad because billionaires don't pay taxes.
