If Preacher stuck to the plot instead of dwelling on all the repetitive boring "romantic" scenes between Jesse and Tulip it would be half its length. After chapter 20 I literally started skipping all the scenes where Tulip is speaking, because every conversation that she has is about Jesse Jesse Jesse. This cunt has zero personality (no, being a gun nut does not count as a personality) apart from being Jesse's cocksleeve.

Also every character speaks like an Irish when they're cussing, even if they're explicitly stated to be Texan or French or whatever. Picrel, Herr Starr is supposed to be German, what kind of German guy would use a word like "bollocking" and "arsehole"?
Garth Ennis is also the creator of noted funniest character Jethro Tully so I'll let it slide.

ennis is overrated as fuck. i don't even mind the edgelord 90s mindset but his stories are tediously loose. he can write decent dialog and that's really it. all the praise he gets is way overblown. reading preacher is at times like listening to a long-winded podcast between jordan peterson and steven crowder.
>>152352240I thought it was good. You're not picking up on her personality because you're too busy skipping or eye-rolling whenever she appears.
>>152352240You’ve never even kissed a girl, what do you know about romance?
>>152353356What personality does she have apart from being obsessed with guns and Jesse? Oh yeah, her backstory informs us she was really smart in college, which is entirely an informed attribute considering she speaks like any regular white trash.
>>152353330The problem is that comics are overrated as fuck. A writer does a few things decently, and all of a sudden he's a master.
>>152352240>a writer who hates the human condition and finds wanton death + suffering to be funny... does not understand sincere emotions???Wow, stop the presses
>>152353414She's a dependent tomboy with daddy issues.
>>152353443You just hate comics
>>152353330>>152353443Midwits spotted
>>152354916>>152354979Prove me wrong. Almost every celebrated comic book writer is good at a handful of things and is praised like a great novelist. When a writer like Ennis or Moore badmouths superheroes, or someone like King writes someone out of character, then you suddenly realize they aren't so great. But they're all hacks. Always have been.
