The rule of two is genuinely so bad. The only reason the Sith still exists is because members of the order kept breaking it. Literal millennia of knowledge was lost because one guy decided to smash all the holocrons and there was only one other person there to stop him.
The JEDI have done less damage to the Sith religion then the rule of two.
The only reason it’s so popular is because Bane is respected and honestly he shouldn’t. Darth Bane was a moron who got killed by his own stupidity and pride. Literal Sith equivalent to a dumb powerscaler who thinks Goku is just a dumb brute warrior and disregards all of his human connections despite them being the source of his strength.
The Sith do not hate Bane enough. In fact the Sith do not hate Darth Bane and that’s a problem. He’s the Sith equivalent to people who grew up in an economic boom then screwed over the next generation.

Also quick Dex backstory and Tala stuff I thought of while writing. Dex has always been a bit over eager when it came to being a Jedi, in the swinging a lightsaber sorta way, and his Master (Jed Tyrell) was trying to help him rein that in. They were on an assignment when they were cornered by pirates. Tyrell tried to de escalate things but Dex started swinging wanting to play hero. Jed was shot and white defending them, a pirate managed to cut Dex’s right arm off. So he had to fight them back with his off hand

After they were rescued and Tyrell was laid to rest Dex saw the importance of what his master was trying to teach him. At the cost of his life unfortunately which Dex blames himself for. So now he focus on defending others, disarming opponents, and trying to talk them down when he can. That’s why he added the cross guards to his saber so he can use them to knock a weapon out of someone’s hands

I thought Tala being a Zygerrian just made sense because she grew up in a culture built on domination and slavery. So when she discovered her strong connection to the Force she went headlong into the Dark Side

As you can tell she’s especially fond of the mind trick and has honed for as long as she can remember. She’s a bit cloak and dagger in that regard, she doesn’t want to make a scene just sit content in the shadows causing chaos

I think Dex likes being controlled by Tala so much because he gets to zero in on just doing his duty as a Jedi (in a way). Helping a person out and all that without feeling the weight of his guilt over, in his mind, causing his masters death. Tala likes controlling Dex so much because it’s like having a Sith apprentice without the drawbacks. She knows this guy would never harm her or let anyone harm her. “He’s too good for her” she’d say. Also she is a Zygerrian so having a slave or the idea of having one isn’t new to her

When they get to Nar Shaddaa it’s just her furthering her conditioning of him through more mind tricks and… other stuff. Eventually she’s able to basically look at him and he’ll go under for her

Tala it’s a little darker. I think she does like Dex but because of her alien culture and Sith nature it just comes out in a dark way. But it is something that he probably *would* do but that push from Tala is what makes him do it. Achieving that meditative, hypnotic state, is pretty easy actually. I learned this technique in my old acting class called sense memory for visualization. Basically you slow your breathing down through deep breaths and flexing and releasing all your muscles. And I do mean all. Anyways after you’re all relaxed you can visualize an environment and can even feel changes in temperatures. Also you can use it to experience a certain emotion. Very powerful

Thanks. This was actually a bit of a challenge, to see if I could write one about Spider-Man. And I’ve got Shathra on the brain since I just bought the second volume of the JMS run

I’ll admit the beginning was kinda hard. I mentioned before that hypnosis isn’t really at play in Spider-Man comics and Shathra has NO hypnotic powers so I was figuring out how she could do it, and how her and Peter’s dynamic works. Thankfully she’s all about instinct and nature so I just leaned into that. Also giving her venom a narcotic/hypnotic effect

If I do write another greentext it could be about Peter and The Queen, a villain who actually does have mind control powers (that are especially effective on Peter). Or one about my OC’s I’ve made. I dunno though we’ll see how the thread goes I could save them for the next one
