Where Cyclops pilots a Quinjet alone.Comics in this thread:>Cyclops #1>Wade Wilson: Deadpool #1
Bump if you're reading.
As you can already tell, we have jumped ahead in time to after Cyclops has returned from AoR. Truth is, we were supposed to have X-Men #25 release today as well, but that got delayed to next week.

Donald Pierce is back to invade another solo X-Book, his third one in the span of a couple of years. Will he use these new Reavers to try to invade Albania again? Probably not.
>The orphanage is going to be replaced with a Roxxon data center Oh fuck off Agger.
I thought they split up Scott and Alex very early on?
>"Scott, I know you and I didn't part on great terms, but I should have been there."Shut up Alex, this is Scott's solo. You have no power here.
Oh goddammit.
>>152454940Bump for 'clops
Another day, another fucking Quinjet destroyed.
Uh-oh.
There goes the forest.
Sorry random mutant kid, you're going to have to watch Scott for us until the X-Men come for him.
And now for Wade Wilson: Deadpool.
It's another year and another attempt at a Deadpool ongoing. Ziglar's run ended up becoming the longest one yet following Young's (if you were to count his coda Wolverines & Deadpools), so maybe things are looking great for Wade?Last time we saw our friend Wade, he created a new company for his merc jobs with Taskmaster and his daughters Ellie and Princess, died to the villain Death Grip, got revived by Ellie (who also decided to call herself Deadpool), tried (and failed) to assassinate Miles Morales in a crossover, and then got his revenge on Death Grip.Meanwhile he also made a bunch of team-ups with his BFF Logan, including saving the end of the world from Apocalypse from Cable's future, being thrown into a journey through the multiverse with the goal of becoming friends and saving it (only to absolutely fail at it), going on a "Bring Your Daughter To Work"-day trip together to Symkaria where Ellie got to meet and work with Laura, and creating Weapon X-Men, which only ended up lasting 5 issues.
Huh?
>>152455022Oh come on, it was barely a tap.
Oh fucking hell Wade, that's just disgusting.
>>152455049>going on a "Bring Your Daughter To Work"-day trip together to Symkaria where Ellie got to meet and work with Laura,Got the issue by any chance? Might've been fun
>>152455068That's Wolverines & Deadpools.
>HammerheadSomething tells me that Percy is already setting up a Deadpool/Punisher crossover...
What was that good for, now you got a bunch glass in your coffee.
>"Hold on! Aren't you going to at least shoot me and steal back your money?"Wade, you know that you need the money to run your merc biz, right?
Oh okay then.
Hey, it's Blind Al again. But why are you with her, you were living in the HQ last time.
>"When you came here a month ago, begging me to take you in, you were lower than low..."So I guess we're already beginning our run with a mystery box plot that relates to the previous status quo being gone.
And Ellie's also gone, because of course she is.
paper
Well I guess reading a mysterious piece of paper that tells the future is better than working for Hammerhead in the end.
Next week: X-Men #25, Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1, Generation X-23 #1, Uncanny X-Men #24, Wolverine #16.And that's it! If you liked these, support your LCS or whatever.
>>152455113So what elle got sucked in a portal or something and Wade got alienated from everyone. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again?
I haven't read Deadpool since Posehn and Duggan split with the relaunch for All-New, All-Different. No amount of lampshading at the time could overcome the fact that they were totally and soullessly selling out Deadpool as a brand icon, especially since he had like 7 different books at the time. Since I ducked out at the very beginning, I don't know much other than what I've heard passively, like how his daughter's a mutant and he divorced his demon wife. So how much of a fuckup was the last 10 years for them to revert it all and make this feel like a very cheap knockoff of the Kelly book, with Wade somehow being back with Blind Al and talking about his chance to "actually be a hero"
Haven't read the X-Men in a long time, Cyclops was average but I might keep it going to see how it goes. Deadpool seems pretty shit but I guess I'll read it to see if the hook pays off.
>>152455228Well at the end of duggans run Deadpool was hated by everyone again for siding with captain hydra aka stevil Rogers. He then was a generic mercenary and became king of the monsters before starting to date a nonbinary as scientist who grew a carnage daughter out of his body that takes the form of a giant dog called princess. He then restarted his company with taskmaster and elle joined him now that she has a healing factor too. Wade died and elle shared her healing factor to bring him back and they killed the guy who killed Wade and later got their healing factors back to normal and they were a happy family. The last run was the longest a run had gone in a while but now this opens with things like they were 30 years ago
>>152455257>The last run was the longest a run had gone in a while but now this opens with things like they were 30 yearsWhich isn't saying much as it was 15 issues long
>>152455228Duggan's continuation after ANAD was quite successful, but the move to have him reset all character development at the end harmed the character to the point that every run since has just never been able to find the same level of success
>>152455330Duggan knew that future Deadpool runs just weren't going to measure up to his for a while, so he wiped the slate clean to not have the next dude immediatly ruins his work.
Yeah X-Men #25 should have come out this week

>>152455029It's been fun how Doug, the Reavers and the US government all consider the idea of Scott coming after them to be a worst case scenario.

>>152455113That sucks. It was fun to have Ellie around.
>>152454970Are we doing Third Species stuff again?
>>152456094>kinda think that should be storytimed with Zdarsky's Captain America book since they're both meant to lead into some Avengers event later this yearI did think of doing that, but I decided to put it here because I'm already planning on covering Dungeons of Doom #2 with Cap #7. And if we're getting any eventual Armageddon X-Book tie-ins (because Zdarsky confirmed that the X-Men are appearing) or the rumors of Wolverine joining the Avengers again post-Armageddon are true, then I do want to cover the comic that's going to lead up to that stuff.>>152456540>>152456599It's because of people have been reacting very negatively to the solicit of Storm: EMM #4 dropping and confirming that the kid she saw in the Hellfire Vigil is going to appear again, but also Ayodele (despite his extremely loyalist fans on twitter) has been criticized a lot for his writing of Storm in her comic. Also, streets are saying that Storm: EMM #1 underperformed given that it did not hit 2nd printing yet (to compare, both Cyclops and Magik & Colossus already have), so he's pretty much stuck with 5 issues greenlit to wrap things up.
Probably for the best that the Cyclops thing is a mini, it's ok but just seeing him alone like this just feels too off, doesn't even seem like he will have any familiar face around him for this mini.
>>152456997This guy problem is that he's too much of a fan of Storm (but the worst kind) to properly write her and he's always baiting people for shitty powerscaling crap about how strong and though she is. Like the biggest impact he had so far is that one panel of the doctor saying that he doesn't like X-Men which now is being passed around whenever someone want to point out that the X-Men are assholes and this is all because he REALLY REALLY wanted Storm to be the one who fix this wrong and the best way he found to do it was basically going "oh yeah these others X-Men they're all funny but you Storm is the greatest".
>>152457001Tbh, it could have been crammed inside the X-men book...

>>152458289>AvXvEIt was A.X.E., not a versus thing.
>>152458235>>152458252It's all Schism. The X-Office literally cannot stop reiterating Schism over and over, only shuffling the characters around between the different roles as required by the story. That's why even shit like Raid on Graymalkin ends up with the heroes fighting each other. Or why Age of Revelation focuses on the danger presented by the X-Men themselves, and only results in more conflict between old friends and comrades. Everything is Schism.

>>152454985Didn't Cyclops die a few times during Krakoa? Did they just keep cloning him with brain damage?
>>152464042It came up at some point. IIRC he never requested for the Five to correct it because it had just become so normal to him that he simply didn't feel the need. It's an obvious cop out, but that's how it went.I don't know if the writers ever made their mind up on whether the damage had healed long ago and Scott's inability to control his blasts was actually psychosomatic in nature. I know that was a thing at some point.
Pierce is such an odd villain. I can never really disassociate him from the Hellfire Club even though I'm pretty sure he hasn't been on it in decades
>>152454940Was kind of interested in seeing him in a solo series and was afraid with all the other characters at the beginning they were going to feel the need to have other X-Men present, but it seems to have diverged from that>>152460658I like the Godtail cover, but the Hicham Habchi Variant is the best.

>>152465532The Avengers do have a few telepaths. They just are jerks.
>>152463720Maybe you're thinking Tempus but yeah I'm sure there's another one.
>>152465624I know it's >AvX but it's been acknowledged that the Avengers are a little shorthanded on telepathic utility.
>>152465827>There's 400 Avengers teamsWhat, all at once?
>>152465827So at this point, the other telepaths would be Mantis (in space), Dr. Druid (also be avoided if possible), Sersi (because she can do everything), and Dr. Strange? I think when Julia became Madame Web she also gained telepathy on top of her existing powers. Justice and Hellcat have different kinds of psychic powers and the former would probably have concerns about this.
>>152466050Hellcat was always a pretty low tier telepath, she couldn't do stuff like psychically disarm an entire compound staff or mind-linking the whole team using her own brain as a network relay and keep that up for however long they'd be out in the field. The stuff Emma talks about in >>152465532 isn't something most of the non-mutant Avengers could do. Even magicians like Druid and Strange typically never provide those capacities on a consistent basis.
>>152465827Moondragon is very powerful, moreso than Xavier at least. Dunno why they wouldn't go with her. I'm sure Tony could plot together a nanomachine replacement for telepathy though
>>152454936what do I need to know before reading this solo? I've not touched X-Men comics in a long time but I love Cyclops
