What if the DC heroes, locations, and villains existed in real life? Let’s say they start out in the mid 70s and trickle in into the 80s of our real world. How would this change things?>In 1975, at age 27, Bruce Wayne becomes Batman>In 1977 at age 28 Superman reveals himself to the world>After serving his country in Vietnam and working for Ferris Aircraft, Hal Jordan joins the Lantern Corps in 1979 at age 31>In 2000 Lex Luthor is elected President of the United States at age 77
>Superman stops the Challenger Explosion
>>152460088Does this include the JSA on this world or is it like Earth-One where there were few heroes prior to Superman
>>152460088Read New Frontier
>>152460274The JSA exist in this world, definitely, but like in an earlier thread they disband around the 50s & 60s
>>152460309New Frontier was set in 1953, this is different, decades apart even. Plus in New Frontier it’s implied at least Superman and Batman were active since the 30s
>>152460088All the superheroes in 2026 would be their nepobabies
>>152460088Damian would probably be Batman by now, either him or Terry.
>>152460514Do you think either of them would IRL stream dramas?
>>152460489That'd be like The Just from Multiversity
>>152460489Would 2026 be >Better>Worse>About the same
>>152460876Nah they'd probably set up the fiction that there's only been one Batman.>>152460889Better in some ways worse in others I'd guess.
>>152460971Fair. I guess tech would be better for one
>>152461083Yeah we'd probably have electric cars as the standard.
>>152460339The 1930s through 50s were still the real life
>>152460088Everyone would be dead and the planet would be destroyed because everyone on all sides is plot armored to all hell in the comics.
>>152461139Yeah, and there may still be a big domestic industry to manufacture those cars through Kord Industries, Wayne Enterprises, LexCorp, etc.>>152461324Look there would be heroes that were active through the 30s and the 50s, it just wouldn’t be the JLA generation. It’ll be the JSA generation.
>>152461518Also I assume that we'd have reverse engineered alien technology assuming an alien invasion happened. Also Lex's presidency would probably end up a disaster.
>>152461552No doubt on both accounts, though I wonder what Lexonomics would be like. If it’s anything like it appeared in Red Sun of Kryton it might not be half bad>At first
>>152461913Up until something like the kryptonite meteor happens and Lex decides to be himself.
Alright now that my noggin has been kicked into gear I’ve been thinking. How would this affect the Cold War?The USSR has the following Teams, some of which loyal directly to Gorbachev, others to the KGB and (if I recall correctly) the GRU. >The Red Rocket Brigade>The People’s Heroes>Soyuz>Red Shadows>Red Trinity (before they defected)>Blue Trinity>And a variety of Meta Human assets that aren’t affiliated with a specific TeamNow, realistically, I imagine for the most part these Soviet Meta Humans would be protecting the Soviet Union & Soviet aligned States, just as the Western Heroes would protect Western Europe, the United States, and Western Aligned States. Covert ops, from either side, would happen of course so how would that affect the Cold War? Since they have different allegiances how would these Soviet Teams shake up the dynamics amongst the cliques of the CPSU? If we are to assume that, largely, it is for the most part the same as in real life up to 1991 how would their presence affect the chances of the coup launched by Soviet hardliners? Would it have been successful? Would it have still failed?
The Golden Age literally had real life dates attached to the characters and they lived their lives, experienced history and had their arcs before Crisis.
>>152462798My guess is some would help them with the coup.
>>152462864Yeah, of course, but what’s your point?
>>152462919Indeed, probably the People’s Heroes and Blue Trinity in particular. KGBeast is a maybe as well as NKVDemon. I think Red Star and Soyuz would be opposed to it but I’m not sure what the Red Rocket Brigade would do.
Counter Vertigo will have his revenge
>>152462959This world would probably still have a Soviet Union then.
>>152463220Indeed
Makes me wonder what Sino-Soviet relations would be like too. No doubt, during the split, the Soviets would try to utilize their Meta-Humans to enact regime change. I’m not sure how many meta humans the PRC have aside from Egg Fu. If, for some reason, the PRC resists this attempt I’d be further interested in if and how Deng’s reforms may take effect. Would Deng even get into power or would they maintain a more Maoist system? If Deng does get into power would the United States feel more confident in pushing them to liberalize further, even, than what they managed to do in real life?
Would the Charlton characters be contemporaries of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Silver/Bronze Age heroes, or would they make their debut earlier during the 1960s?
>>152464038Case to case, for the most part I would say that they would be contemporaries of the Bronze Age Heroes. Sarge Steel would definitely be more active in the 60s, Ted Kord would probably become Blue Beetle in the Mid to Late 60s but others like Peacemaker & Captain Atom would emerge in the 70s
>>152463876China has the Great Ten as a dedicated, state backed, Hero Team but I’m not sure if they are Dengists, Maoists, or whatever In between
>>152465440lol they weren't even trying
Which superheroes would be likely to run for political office, if any?
>>152466834Ollie would at some pointBruce did fill in for a Senator or Congressman temporarily, in Pre-COIE comic, I can't remember
>In 2000 Lex Luthor is elected President of the United States at age 77You could also go with having Our Worlds at War happening in 2001, too
>>152465440Seven Deadly Brothers is one person?
>>152466834Barbara Gordon has run for office before, that said, I imagine Commander Steel would. Definitely Oliver. Maybe Booster Gold
>>152468419Apparently
I think it’s clear that Oliver Queen would run as a Democrat. Probably a more Labor Focused one. Franklin Rock would probably run as a Republican, unfortunately as one of the William Buckley sort same with Commander Steel. I’m not sure which ticket Barbara would go for, it’s honestly a toss up given her police and Irish American background. Booster Gold would run as an Independent but it would probably be primarily to boost his name recognition
>>152461083Would we be living in the Batman Beyond future?
>>152469320>Booster Gold would run as an IndependentIneligible to run for President because he hasn't been born yet His knowledge of the future is limited but just enough to cause trouble (it's implied in his past, Hillary won in 2016 and his effort to save a future celebrity he recognized may had a butterfly effect on that)
>>152469533It’ll be hilarious if Booster Gold accidentally started everything because he had some things to say about a video game he didn’t like. Also I think him not being born yet would only be an issue if he’s running for High office or, indeed, if he gets any traction in the polls
>>152460889The Orange man would still reighn supreme
>>152464873Nice cover.
>>152470706Yeah I thought it was cool too
>>152469877Who?
>>152471894You know, Larfleeze.
>>152460889>>152460971Both better and worse, i imagine a lot more pedos would be dead by now yet we we would be subject to more powerful (and i mean physically and whatever superpowers or tech they have) evil people who are probably immortal or much longer lived through contrived means.Obviously tech and other shit would be way better, even in world outside your window Marvel you see people getting access to insanely cool videogame consoles that we could only dream of, and space stations and shit like house robots, power armor, etc. Etc. The big problem just like the whole pedo thing would be that said tech and experimental often ends up in the hands of supervillains or evil corporations that have to be stopped by capes.I'm approaching this with the assumption that idealistic heroes and their results ring true as well. But anyway, it would be worse and better.
>>152469761>>152469533>"Man Booster what a beautiful scene we get to see every day when we fly above the ocean. Especially right by this island it's gorgeous. Too bad it's owned by some rich guy."
>>152466834Bronze age Batgirl was a congresswoman for a few years.
>>152472359Oh definitely, the characters are, well, who they’re characterized as. Just in the real world so it wouldn’t be a lame “The Boys” scenario where they’re secretly awful or something
>>152460325Which parts of the Golden Age history are we going with hereCause like there's Sandman Mystery Theatre, The Earth-Two stuff in All Star Squadron/Infinity Inc/Secret Origins, The Golden Age, the stuff in Robinson's Starman, and so onI know that Robinson and Johns made some parts of The Golden Age canon to the mainline but not the biggest part of the story (in The Golden Age, Dan the Dyna-Mite became Dynaman but it turned out that Ultra-Humanite removed Dan's brain from his body and replaced it with Hitler's while in the mainline Dan was just part of Old Justice in the Young Justice comic)
>>152469419Bruce is born around 1948 going by what OP set up, so yeah I could believe it
>>152474007Let’s say, broadly speaking, the Golden age had happened.
>>152475091Based. I’ve been looking for an excuse to post this again
>>152460088Why didn't Superman stop insane CIA experiments and criminal activities?
>>152475180Who’s to say in this timeline he didn’t?
>>152475180Well this isn’t our Earth, it’s a realistic Earth where they existed. Superman and, indeed, other heroes probably were able to reform the C.I.A. if not cause it to be disbanded. You still have the Department of Meta Human Affairs and the Department of Extranormal Operations to worry about though
>>152460088>Superman reveals himself in 1977Wait so you’re telling me this didn’t happen in this scenario?
>>152475602Crazy.
>>152475315That also brings up another question, does Eel O'Brien become Plastic Man during the 1940s, or contemporary to the Silver/Bronze Age guys? Cause Plastic Man eventually works for the FBI and I imagine that if he was around as far back as the 40s things might've been very different
>>152460489Isn't this the premise behind that one Mutliversity story where Damien Wayne fucks Lex Luthor's hot bald daughter
>>152477821Yeah. That story was also using the Pre-Flashpoint stuff at the time so it had Chris Kent instead of Jon Kent
