https://x.com/Radrappy/status/2021684735978721384Kickstarter launches next monthThoughts?
>>152460970Holy fuck it looks kino. That's loli Sasha. Fucking finally after the unattractive slop from Knight of Guinevere we got goonable design
>>152460970>I will also be using this project as a springboard for an independent animation studio called Fantasy Project. We are very small now but hopefully with your support we can grow to create more wonderful things.
>>152461014Stop looking at porn of your show, faggot
>>152460970>kino boss design from elden ringFinally, some good fucking food. I hate fighting this mf in Elden Ring. I always try to cheese him using magic spells
>>152461093>copying something betterNothing new under the sun.
>Knights of Guinevere greenlit>Braly immediately jumping into a new project and launching an animation studio after Sony shuttered his previous projectSchizoposters in shambles, the Disney duo can't be stopped
>>152461104It still looks better than anything from GLITCH, I reckon. The premise of the story looks even more original than anything made by Matt Braly's blacklisted peer who got her show canceled by Disney.
>>152461193No
>>152461193>The premise of the story looks even more originalI'm interested in this but don't fucking lie lol. "Cute classic story, but make it horror" is almost as old as the stories they're adapting.
>>152460970Can any of these indie animated shows actually sustain themselves or is it just to gain notoriety in YouTube up until you get a deal with Netflix or Amazon or whoever?
>>152460970Oh, shit. I love Nutcracker adaptations.
>>152461225Sorry that Knights of Guinevere irrelevant and have no fans>>152461228Matt knows how to make it more interesting. That alone gives him more edge than "What if Disney were evil but FNAF animatronics were actually a Disney princess with a Mickey Mouse-shaped hair????" Like seriously, YAWWWWN.
>>152460970>>152461093Aesthetically, it looks pretty cool, and if it's taken as a dead serious grimdark action gothic show, then I'd be down for that. What I don't really seem to understand is the Nutcracker connection. Just make it its own thing, who cares about "twisting" the play?
>>152461404Tbh considering Sony dropped his movie, he's leashed to doing a spinoff of Amphibia for Disney and how Hollywood is all about adaptations and regurgitations I can understand him wanting to play it safe.
>>152460970Sasha but in her own story? count me in.
>>152460970SAS- I MEAN CLARA WIFEEEE!!!>Blonde girl with a swordAND SHE CHECKS EVERYTHING WHAT I LOVE ABOUT SASHA.
>>152460970Why are so many people in the industry going indie?
>>152461356>Sorry that Knights of Guinevere irrelevant and have no fansGo back to your slums.
>>152460970Matt doing something that’s not about Thai culture? Say it ain’t so.
>>152461498He's as Thai as Tony Soprano is Italian.
>>152461487>Why are so many people in the industry going indie?I'm gonna guess that the answer is that the animation industry has more experienced showrunners and directors than they have jobs available for them.
>>152461493Did Vivzie shat on your beloved milquetoast, uninspired series again? Sowwwy :((((
The eyelashes are on the bottom. I repeat. The eyelashes are on the bottom. This is not a drill.
>>152461487They want to keep making cartoons for a career and have bills to pay
>>152460970Really curious for this show since it's not thai or asian-related stuff from Matt but don't like that it's a kickstarter.
>>152461720That's wife material.
>>152460970>another scowling female protagonist that slayskill me
>>152461563nah its ai
>>152461487The television cartoon industry is on life support
>>152460970This looks like actually indie. If the Nutcracker and Clara are anything like Sasha and Grime this will be guarantied Kino
>>152460970>>152461968I seriously need fan art of Sasha and Grime as Clara and the nutcracker yesterday!
>>152461814Grow a pair.
>>152461404The play offers a loose structure, characters, aesthetic references and a killer sound track. Nutcracker has NEVER had a good story and personally I've never experienced an adaptation that did a good job with it's mess of a story and I think a lot of people feel that way if they can even piece together what it's 'story' is. At the same time people have a fondness and nostalgia for the music and ambiance which I think makes them uniquely receptive to an adaptation. You can't really 'mess up' the plot or characters of something like Nutcracker, meanwhile there's an audience hungering for a 'definitive' experience that will put flesh on the bones of the ballet.
I think the studio logo needs another pass.
>>152462068This is just the same soulless logic used to excuse remakes.
>>152461487Because the traditional industry is controlled by non-creatives that can cancel your show after years of development. It's probably not a coincidence that he advertised this campaign only a day after after that Sony announcement.
>>152462102nah, most of the time remakes are remakes of things that people considered to be good and Nutcracker is in a weird spot where most people agree that the characters and story are actually trash. It's completely carried by it's music.
>>>another scowling female protagonist that slays>kill meYou're going to have to pick which one of those is the problem. >inb4 "it's neither" >inb4 "no you can't do that, that would be stupid."163445031That doesn't make sense. The main reason you have a sequel is to introduce a new cast of characters.
>>152461279I think everyone is still trying to find out what strategies work.
>>152461487Why would anyone want to be a part of the current industry?
>>152460970Sasha SEX!
>>152461279>Kickstart project and make pilot>Sell merchandise to keep funds going>Use kickstarter success, pilot, and merchandise to prove interest in concept to actual investors who can actually give good funding
>>152460970>indiemore like begging. "going indie" is supposed to mean your slop is funded by a studio outside of the "established" aka disney, dreamworks, sony.Mutt is kickstarting. he doesn't have any trust from a group with money.
>>152462068The problem is that the nutcracker having a shitty story at heart will create problems to anyone making a twist to it. Might as well have done Alice in Wonderland.>>152462087I think it's cool he's making a studio to get more people hired.
>>152462446most of these had good pilots, the rest were throwaway and lackluster. it only proves that beanmouth is just a shortcut for drawing smiles.
>>152462728>Amphibia scholarsPlease, it's Crackers now and we crackers only want one thing.
>>152460970>human girlfrogfuckers and burgers are in shambles, long live fries.
>>152460970Will von Bismarck be in the final product?
>>152462687I will agree with this. I think Nutcracker works best as a ballet where the appeal is the music, the dancing, the costumes and set dressing. The core story is just too much of a mess.
Look at this little shitter. This naive. This neerdowell. The absolute cad.
>>152462068>>152462687The problem is the ballet is based on a story which itself, akin to Alice In Wonderland, is supposed to be a fucking fever dream.>Pendulum, had to hum, didn't wish to fit, clocks, clocks, clock pendulum, had to hum, softly hum, bells boom, bells blast, limp and lame and honk and hunk, doll girl, don't worry, scurry, ring the bell, bell is rung, bell is sung, to drive away Mouse King today, now the owl comes flying fast, pack and pick and pick and pack, chimes are jingly, clocks, hum, hum ...This is an actual goddamn passage from the original story. The stated goal was to simply spur the imagination of children at the time.
>>152462068wanted to clarify, you can't mess up the plot or characters bc the plot and characters are paper thin and weird as hell but you can still make a bad movie/play/show/whatever so I'm curious as to how Braly would approach this
So the premise is apparently:>To save her bedridden ex-military father, Clara must fight the ghosts of the soldiers he killed on the battlefield in a surreal world under her house simply called the Below. She is aided by a mischievous toy nutcracker who represents her innocence and childhood.
At least it can't be as racist as the old Sanrio Nutcracker Fantasy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TGtpDq0Ekk
>>152462446Anon, literally one of these shows got greenlit so perhaps not the best example.
>>152461172Meanwhile, at Disney>reboot of show from 2007>Kiff>shows that get cancelled after 1 seasonDTVA on suicide watch.
>>152463235I see you like Metal Gear, Matt.
>>152463122What is the chance that this nutcracker holds the soul of a boy who died in "the below"? Could be a potential romantic partner.>>152463235>Clara has to become the hoonter to hunt the monster that blights her father with terminal sicknessyour average Bloodborne plotline for NPCs
>>152463155Yes I'm familiar with the original story that the ballet is based upon and I agree with you but I think it's worse than Alice in Wonderland. Alice in Wonderland is IMO actually more cohesive somehow by merit of being simpler. Oh and I forgot that the Nutcracker ballet is an adaptation of an adaptation of a short story which just makes it messier. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and state that the story of Nutcracker, be it the original or the adaptation of the original or that of the play, is shit. Braly's Nutcracker can succeed even if it only uses the music and set dressing of the ballet because, again, the OG plot(s) are shit. I think it would be a mistake for Braly to rely heavily on the ballet or short story plots as they are, again, shit.>>152463235This sounds a lot better, not shit.
>>152463321fwiw in the original (shitty) plots the Nutcracker *is* Marie's love interest. Which is weird because she's like, only 7.
>>152463321I'm wondering if Drosselmeyer is her father in this. Which would be weird as the Nutcracker is his cursed nephew generally.
>>152463416I wouldn't really care if Clara and Nutcracker were cousins if the story and presentation feel historical enough but they could easily change it to him being Drosselmeyer's apprentice.
>>152463369It's not really a law not making the nutcracker the same age as Clara. I mean, Barbie and the Nutcracker pretty much did this by making the Nutcracker, who is the prince charming, be the same age as Barbie.
>>152463416Unless he's still her godfather which would be slightly less incestuous.
>>152463369Sounds based
I love that his backup plan was indulging in his sword wielding blonde girl boss fetish just in case his deeply personal cartoon about his life and heritage didn't pan out.
>>152463122He's downright handsome compared to this...
>>152463443>>152463457I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's not actually a big deal because the original short stories don't have a lot of psychological depth to them so the Nutcracker being implied(?) to be older than Marie isn't something to take seriously when you read the story aloud to your children. 'Ooh, wouldn't YOU like to marry a handsome prince someday??' sort of situation because kids do form innocent crushes on adults. Aging up the characters is the obvious path forward for an adaptation attempting more than a dinner plate's worth of depth.>>152463537I actually don't think Braly's film pitch was bad at all, it sounds like an interesting story with the potential for beautiful visuals. I also think the subject matter is uncomfortable enough to be perceived as a risk for a studio that would prefer to develop feel-good stories that won't make parents sad.
>>152463552ye old basedjak?
>>152463537Honestly, he should’ve pitched this instead. A retelling of the Nutcracker is better selling point than a cultural piece about surgery.
>>152463597I would've liked to see the fanart to come out of it at least.
>>152463597That's what I was thinking. A Nutcracker movie could have done very nicely in the holiday season
>>152462849>burgers are in shambles, long live fries.Fuck you brought back some bad memories. I don't even remember the original context lol.
>>152463597>>152463704IIRC studios are actually kind of wary of Christmas movies because they're only profitable for one specific time of year.
>>152462446>beanmouthWhat is this
>>152463752I wasn't aware but that makes sense.
>>152460970The protag looks like Sasha Waybright 2 and I mean it as a compliment. We had too little of her in Amphibia.
This is a win for all Sashafags
>>152463369Again, that's because, and this is why so many nutcracker adaptations don't work. The original is deliberately meant to work on a strange dream-like logic which is deliberately full of complete fucking nonsense meant to mimic the weird dreams kids have. The thing about adapting the nutcracker is you're better off shifting towards visual spectacle for that dream like feeling, but like everyone in the thread said, the story itself is pretty fucking shit for more direct adaptation.
>>152461353Watched this recently with some friends. The whole time we were confused by how bizarre it was. After watching the movie I looked into the original story and it actually seemed pretty accurate.
>>152465191That style shift during the flashback was wild.
>>152464931I'm looking forward to the kickstarter trailer if only to see what direction Braly takes. Without that visual spectacle I don't think it will work. If it ignores the music it won't work. If it tries to hew to the original story too much it won't work. It really needs to do it's own thing, be it's own thing, with a little Nutcracker flavoring.
>>152460970>what if Alice, but instead of being bubbly and fun she’s yet another boring emotionless girlboss???Snooze. Also didn’t Disney do the whole girl knight Alice schtick in the Tim Burton movies
>>152465957>poster says Clara>"Alice"Huh
>>152465957Wrong isekai there, bub. This is The Nutcracker Suite not Alice in Wonderland.
>>152466041>>152465967Danatroon is retarded what else is new?
>>152461968This has to be my favorite piece of Sasha fan art. Maybe one of my favorite pieces of Amphibia fan art in general.
>>152460970It looks really good. Now I'm hyped!
>>152460970>Pacifica>Sasha>now thisHe's got a type
>>152466878>all three girls have different levels of blushkek, I love that kind of details
>>152461849Seriously where are the good AI shows? Even the pro AI people would rather just watch and scrape new material from human artists than watch other people's AI slop if it isn't porn.
>>152466962Keramagath is the GOATHopefully he will also draw Clara
>>152463752He did say a gothic take on it, so it could have played well on Halloween too but good luck avoiding comparisons to fucking Nightmare Before Christmas
>>152462068My only reservation about this is that the pitch is so heavy on concept, light on story and that’s already the weak aspect of adapting the Nutcracker. With any luck the Kickstarter does a good job showing the vision.
>>152466996There's never going to be a good AI show because slop animation is inherently boring and can't be copyrighted anyway. The dumb Jews in charge of the big cartoon studios haven't figured this out yet. Once they do, they're going to have to crawl back to the animators they fired and it's going to be hilarious.
>>152461487For many years, cartoons were funded by toy sales. When that dried up, cartoons began to become funded as propaganda machines. Over time the propaganda got less subtle, and this has caused a general decline for cartoons. If a cartoon isn’t convincing children/adults to buy toys/think a certain way, why pay for it?So cartoons aren’t being paid for by corporations like Disney. So creators turn to the indie side, which is easier than ever to enter due to cartoons being easier than ever to make
>>152460970Gee, Matt, how did you manage to get not only an Amphibia graphic novel from Disney on top of starting your own animation company and producing your own animated series? Matt Braly is always based and full of surprises.
>>152460970Beautiful poster
My beloved Sasha expy
>>152460970Matt Braly wonAmphibia won
>>152460970It looks neat but Amphibia left a bag taste in my mouth. I can't forgive him for the blatantly anti-Christian Christmas episode and Season 3 was also just very milquetoast all things considered, plus the clone thing was just stupid.
>>152467165See this makes me think: why even bother?
>>152467165>>152468345You're literally a mentally ill Indian. Why do you keep pushing this sad cope everywhere and still fail at it in the most embarrassing way? It will never be a thing. Nobody is buying your Google Play gift card scam, Ranjeet. Everyone here loves Amphibia and respects Matt Braly. Try to make it less obvious next time with your blatant samefagging.
>>152468452>The schizo behind the mutt posting and Owl House shilling is some disgusting-looking jeet freakThat really explains everything. Owl House is truly the worst show with the worst fanbase. Get fucked, Owl faggots.
>>152468452There's no way Wait, this is actually true?Hahahaha, there is no way owl fags can recover from this complete blunder. He finally flew too close to the sun, he really thought he could get away with trying to do the same to Matt using his real Twitter account.
>>152463235>Girl’s father is bedridden. Probably has PTSD from the military over the stresses of war. A very real problem that happens to men that drives them into depression, alcolholism, suicide, etc. >Fix his problems with a magical girlpower adventure where he isn’t even the protagonist. Must every cartoon be a faux therapy session? This show should have just been about a gothic battle loli who simply likes killing evil ghosts. No way this plot point is gonna be handled gracefully.
>>152468452It really is called the Dykena Jeet Defense Force. Idiot really doxxed himself. My fucking sides.
>>152463235>Getting your ass kicked twice: first on the battle field by a star soldier and then again by his young daughter in the after lifeAbsolutely humiliation
>>152468656Humiliating*
>>152468452OHNONONO BAHAHAHAHA
>>152468452I'm kinda stupid so I don't see how pic explains that it's him.
>>152468732He's the only loser here peddling that crap. There is no one here but him who cares about that. I recall he made a thread about it a dozen times, and it either quickly died off to page 10 or got deleted by a mod because he couldn't stop spamming the same image as the one in the screencap.https://x.com/basthegikes/status/2021536368686432626
>>152468764I'm not him, and I have pointed out that Braly screen a few times before.
Ewww, I didn't realize I just spoke with that Indian freak who is obsessed with Matt Braly.
>>152468793Ok, pajeet.
>>152468452Dana Jeets will never ever get away from this BTFO.
>>152460970Clara is cute. Who will voice her, I wonder. Is Matt going to hire Anna Akana (Sasha VA) again for the main role?
>>152462665>he doesn't have any trust from a group with money.Fuck your gay ass "group with money". Indie is about side stepping suits and going directly to the audience. Its more impressive the less resources or connections they have.
>>152468906Could he even afford her?
So far Clara has many Sasha traits, what do you think will be different in her?>>152468906Neh, I don't think he would want to do the exact same character. Clara needs to stand on her own.
>>152468911>Its more impressive the less resources or connections they haveAll of these ex industry creators going indie just feels like a Mighty No. 9 situation. They are obviously gonna get support since they have thousands of fans from their previous work who wanna see them create. Yet the quality and scale of their work will just never measure up to what they did with a studio. People are paying more for less and it’s just sad.
>>152468929Why not. The animation is already done at this point.
Is the Kickstarter page up yet?
>>152468970yes
>>152468937Clara doesn't look like the pushover and controlling type like Sasha. There isn't much for us to go through with just one picture of her from the poster.
>>152465294It's crazy how much of the movie the flashback took up as well. It just keeps going and going. The fight between the Rat King and the Nutcracker on the Christmas tree was cool, would have been a good climax to the movie.
>female protagNo thanks, too many of them out there Give me a comic with a male protag and a cast with hot girls for him.
>>152460970This looks really good. Finally a white girl main character who actually looks fine as hell.
Not every blonde is a Sasha reference
>>152469424Yeah, it does. Sasha is hot. Clara is hot. Therefore, they're both Sasha.
>>152469424>>152469591>eggskin!
>>152469611Hotskin
>>152468452I'm sorry to ruin everyone's fun but this is just a screenshot of a guy that was in a viral video of an indian scammer getting exposed on a camera. Judging by the bio this guy's probably got him as his banner to add onto some /pol/ injoke.
>>152461093>>152461720Need r34 of her getting violated by this thing's horsecock.
>>152462043These protagonists need to. I'm sick of female leads in cartoons

>>152469882I'm pretty sure most of the replies are just tribefag talking to himself, anyway.
>>152467165>>152468452No, but really. Why did Matt tweet that? I’m guessing the implication is that too much media is aimed at Gen Z males. Which is kind of an unfair thing to say after Disney bought Star Wars and swiftly destroyed any interest Gen Z males had in it.It’s odder that he tweeted this while in the middle of working on a movie aimed for the Gen Z audience
>>152470081>*indian accent* saars I'm pretty sure most of the replies are just tribefag talking to himself *head bobbles* Good morning, Rajeesh. Still wasting your pathetic brown third-world Indian life in your slum seething about Matt Braly and Amphibia mogging the absolute fuck out of your canceled shitstain slop called the Owl House?
