Who is the greatest Marvel villain ever?
>>152464694>Inb4 Joe Quesada
>>152464694Venom has not been a villain in over two decades
>>152464694ENTER
>>152464760He is now that he's ruining Mary Jane
>>152464694Doom this isn't even a question. Doom is more popular than the entirety of the F4 combined, no other villain mogs their hero that badly
>>152464789>ruining Mary JaneThat would be Marvel editorial
>>152464798Venom is the vehicle Marvel editorial is using.
>>152464777He's literally me
>>152464694VENOM ADRENALINE MOMENTUMAND I'M NOT KNOWIN WHEN I’MEVER GONNA SLOW UP AND I'MREADY TO SNAP ANY MOMENT I'MTHINKIN' IT'S TIME TO GO GET 'EMTHEY AIN'T GONNA KNOW WHAT HIT 'EMW-W-WHEN THEY GET BIT WITH THE>>152464760see above
>>152464808You're retarded
>>152464831>using a song from a movie where he's explicitly the heroYou are not helping your case.
Doom
Bendis
>>152464858He also eats people in that. He was a villain long enough with enough villainous successors and returns to form in between to count
>>152464883I think you're just reaching. He was deliberately portrayed as an anti-hero in all the Hardy films. The shitty Topher Grace take in SM3 is still the only truly villainous Eddie Brock & Venom we got on film.
>>152464694Red Skull because he's literally just an evil asshole. There's no sob story that justifies it, there's no evil artefact or other sort of externality that set him on the wrong track, not even a consistent set of beliefs, morals, principles, or sense of fair play that you can at least point to and call redeemable qualities. He was just born to be a pure dickhead.
>>152464694Does Kulan Gath count? Kulan Gath is always fun.
>>152464694It's genuinely impressive how despite a decade straight of doomwank the character is still utterly uninteresting outside of his f4 zone.
I like way to many to pick a fave but I think Kang, Count Nefaria and Baron Zemo deserve more respect and just usage in stuff like videos games
>>152464798>That would be Marvel editorialWhy didn't you say that to answer OP's question and end the thread?
>>152464942Dormammu does that better.
>>152464694Doom has the most versatility in villainhood, yet Thanos has edged him out in general magnitude due to IG and the MCU.
Ultron
>>152464694Bendis
>>152464694Dan Slott
>>152465804I wasn't exactly a fan of Duggan's WCA, but I liked his idea of Ultron partitioning himself.
>>152464694the fans.
>>152464694As far as I've read, nothing has been quite as menacing as the duo that is Mad Jim Jaspers and The Fury.
Barracuda
>>152466946>Eminem victim
>>152467003>rapes trumpHAHAHA EPICCINGLY FUCKED THOSE TRUMPITES!!!!!
>>152464942>not even a consistent set of beliefs, morals, principles, or sense of fair playnot to say it's a good thing, but isn't he a Nazi? which, again, not saying it's a good thing, but it does imply he has certain beliefs (aryan race above all else, might makes right, that sorta stuff)genuine question because i don't read any stuff with him. is he only a Nazi because they let him do fucked up shit but he doesn't actually believe in the cause or something like that?
It's Dr. Doom. This isn't a debate. Can't wait for the MCU to fuck up his character forever.
>>152464694>Who is the greatest Marvel villain ever?Marvel writers and editors.
>>152464694When did Asgard become a villain?
>>152467010This but unironically
>>152464935A villain doesn't lead a film so course he was an antihero there
Godzilla. But you already knew that.
>>152469014Thanos was the protagonist of IW.
>>152469582That's a meme, he was the antagonist, the protagonist role was an ensemble cast among the Avengers and allies
>>152464792>no other villain mogs their hero that badlyThis is true but I'd say some villains got really close or even surpassed their heros for a limited period of time. Joker, Lobo and Reverse Flash come to mind
>>152467983F4 2005 beat it to that
Sugar ManDark BeastSinesterAbysmHolocaustMojoThe LeaderTyrannusAbominationSpyralYeah I like age of apocalpse
>>152464694The one inside you
>>152467785He ditched Nazism for HYDRA-ism long ago
>>152467785IIRC under Gruenwald he kind of bounced around from different positions and made contradictory statements about his own beliefs.
>>152464754That, bendis or slott
>>152467010Wait, how can he be a villain if he raped Trump?
>>152470984Why not all three?
>>152470103Protagonist refers to who's got the most narrative focus, not bound to any specific morality.
>>152464694Venom was worth the most for the longest, so him.
>>152464694Galactus first villain to give me nightmare
>>152471452Scary nigga
>>152471409what do you mean “worth the most”worth reading?
>>152471615No, he was the single most expensive marvel character to license.
>>152471027He also cannibalized his own favorite porn star.
>>152464694so the gays were the villains all along!
>>152471452Is Galactus Lovecraftian without the tentacles?
>>152471332Anon, the antagonist is not bound to any specific morality either, so I am not sure why you even responded with that. The protagonist is the character(s) who face and struggle against the conflict of the story. The antagonist is the character(s) who create the conflict of the story. Thanos is the antagonist; he is creating the conflict by trying to gain the power of the infinity stones and what he plans to do with those stones would cause an outcome the protagonists are struggling to prevent. The only difference between Thanos and many antagonists is that Thanos is an antagonist that seems to temporarily triumph decisively over the protagonists. To give another example, Kefka also does this mid-way through FF6, but he is not the protagonist of FF6 either. It is another ensemble cast. Ensemble casts are somewhat rare but the recourse is not to make the antagonist into the protagonist just because there is not one singular protagonist.
>>152474731I went by the moral tangent since you made it a point to single Thanos on the antagonist role. Thanks for claryfing.
>>152464694Red Skull is a highly successful online influencer. None of the villains in the OP can claim the same. That's a level of moral bankruptcy none of them have sunken to.
STORMIN' NORMAN
>>152475862Should he and Venom be disqualified on account of their being heroes now?
>>152476236Nigga framing this argument like it should conform to modern Marvel is like limiting yourself only to wojak memes om 4chan. Sure there's a lot of it but it is all entirely soulless and lame.Again if this is be taking into account modern marvel then what >>152468200 and >>152465087 said are the correct answer. And modern Marvel means to me most of the Marvel U after Disassembled, X-Men after Morrison, and Spider-Man after OMD.Anyway, I like Norman because I have basic taste just like anyone else and the fact he is no frills most of the time (discounting Clone Saga, even though his monologue/return during PPSM 75 is really good), his insanity/unpredictability, unique powers/gadgets/aesthetic, and connection to Peter's story/theme and all of his supporting cast. I've always wanted a story where Norman sets in motion events that use all the other villains to his own ends until he finally sees a chance to destroy Spider-Man.A close second would be Thanos as I read a bunch of 90's cosmic and he was always fun to read. I however need to read more Doom other than Secret Wars 1.
