Does being a Catholic make you a better artist?
>>
>>152468882
Evidently not given pic related.
>>
>>152468882
I'm an adult man who asked a Priest this once.
Also, obviously not OP. I don't really get where this thread is going.
>>
>>152468894
What's wrong with it?

No, but being devoted to something gives you the drive and emotional energy to make passionate art.
>>
>>152468960
That's why Latinos make up most of /co/ drawfags nowadays?
>>
>>152468957
Nothing inherently but it's also nothing to write home about. You'd have a much better case making this thread on /his/ by posting Renaissance art or something.

I think that's more relative economic situations. If some Peruvian guy can get 2000 bucks a month on a Patreon that's living really well in Peru, looks like about 250% above the median. While in America it's not a lot.
So, competitive advantage.
>>
>>152468882
I asked a similar question to a girl I knew in high school who was Catholic, only about if your uncle was a Priest.
No, we never smashed...
>>
>>152469022
please use the gender-neutral term latinx*
>>
>>152468882
it makes you a filthy jew that's for sure
>>
>>152468882
What if you're Orthodox and the priest actually is your father?
>>
>>152469134
What if you proceed from the father and the son?

Does being a Mormon do that?

Since Catholic is cringe it's more of a handicap

Reddit
>>
>>152469211
you're right, catholicism is extremely reddit.
>>
>>152469211
>>152469260
The Catholic Church is 2000 years older than Reddit.
>>
>>152469290

I thought Mormons didn't like furries.
>>
>>152469386
They don't like drugs, premarital sex and The Gay. Anything else is fine.
>>
>>152468960
I've said this before but perverts often do great things because they're highly motivated individuals.
>>
>>152469407
Except caffeine
>>
No it just means you don't go to hell.
>>
>>152469427
That's a drug.
>>
>>152469386
Nobody likes furries
>>
>>152469434
Coffee it's an estimulant, not a drug.
>>
>>152469088
The one in the comic, not OP's question, I mean
>>
>>152469444
Stimulants are a class of drugs.
>>
>>152469407
Mormons aren't allowed to accept blood.
>>
>>152469463
Caffeine is a competitive antagonist to adenosine receptors the same way capsaicin is to the TRV receptors that react to physical heat/corrosion, there isn't something magical that makes the former a drug but not the latter. Blocking a fatigue receptor is considerably different from taking actual stimulants like amphetamines.
>>
>>152469738
So you can't be a Mormon vampire? Sounds pretty sus to me
>>
>>152469842
Technically true but you can't receive a blood transfusion as well.

Perseverance makes you a good artist/composer/writer/programmer/chef because you're mastering a skill set where you generally start out sucking and endure frustration.
>>
>>152470128
then how do you explain talent?
>>
>>152469022
Part economy, americans will ignore your $100 offer for a doodle. Down south it's a living wage and a reason to strive to improve.
Part culture, comics and cartoons are just a container for a story. Not just for kids, but everyone.
Then they probably have enough asian jeans from the natives.
>>
>>152470156
It helps with perseverance.
>>
The lack of painkillers means they must learn to live with the rejection that builds up an artist.
Converts like Vance, who join for the memes have no such luck and simply seeth at creativity.

This. Picasso mastering realism at 7 or Mozart writing songs at the same age is a fucking fluke, most good/great artists started out making shit like the rest of us and going through the grind, hating themselves, failing over and over but never giving up.
This is where Alex Ross started out.
>>
>>152470680
>most good/great artists started out making shit
growing up it was pretty clear who had artistic talent as early as 13-14 with little to no practice, just doodling or doing what they thought was fun to do because they were naturally drawn to it. it's effortless and rewarding for people hardwired for it.
>>
>>152469386
Mormons are the most degenerate compared to Catholics and Protestants.

>>152469738
And yet, I wish they'd die off faster than at the current rate.

Jack Hamm was a cartoonist and author of several excellent "how to draw" books. He was also devoutly Christian.

Jesus.
Either things have degraded significantly since I left school or kids in the 80s and 90s were just massively more talented than Kids These Days™.
I remember being able to tell by year three which kids were the good artists.
>>
>>152476647
Its a nice book but it took me forever to find a copy on eBay
>>
>>152476844
The kids are way better than us I say this assuming you're in your mid to late 20s at the age we were starting to draw because now they've got all the resources they need and more art styles to take inspiration from so they don't have to crib off 90s furry art and Rumiko Takahashi or Akira Toriyama
>>
>>152470698
Ross would not have hinted at who he became by that age
THIS IS FUCKING WORK, PICK UP THE FUCKING PENCIL, RECRUIT
>>
>>152471150
Great book
>>
>>152475348
Now explain fellow Catholic John Romita Jr. who was still a great artist when he was single and a shit artist married with kids now
>>
>>152477985
I blame the shift to digital.
>>
>>152469386
Mormons are usually giant nerds. Easily the highest nerd ratio of any modern-day church. That's why.
