> Even more anti-union than ol' Uncle Walt
> Overworked his animators and treated them terribly
> When his animators went on strike, he moved his entire studio to Miami, because Florida has always been an anti-union state

Why do cartoon fans demonize Walt for being anti-union and let Max off the hook?

One is a Jew. Walt isn’t.

Fleischer Studios isn't a currently active billion dollar corporation that bills itself and its history as wholesome and artist driven like Disney did/does.

Fleischer's story is also not as well known in the mainstream.

I honestly think most people aren't really aware of this or ponder Betty Boop that much, no hate to Betty or anything.
>>
Because being anti-Disney is the ultimate safe opinion for lazy but outspoken people. But the reality is that Disney was always the leader of the industry, and was completely unshackled from the whims of corporations, since he was the boss. Fleischer and Disney are similar in that aspect, but Disney simply won out in the end. And the whole union stuff is just so ridiculous. The notion of people seriously discussing the idea that inkers and painters aren't paid as much as key animator is nothing short of laughable. The strikes were blatantly the work of outside forces that just wanted to derail the industry, simple as.

Why shit on Walt because of the current company?

Why not?

Popeye was popular to the point that Paramount can't keep up with demand and the fights had to be toned down despite him being proto battle shonen. They even tone down his misogyny. Then again when a woman voiced Popeye she gained so much strength the make actor was scared.

No one gives a fuck about Fleischer outside of artists and cartoonists who are knee deep in the interest of drawing shit
Normies only know Fleischer as that studio that animated the Popeye shorts and then wonder why their name changed to Famous Studios and the people who draw inspiration from them know them for the shorts they produced rather than for the people who animated them. Seriously, for all the street cred animators give Fleischer studios I see more people able to name WB and Disney animators of the era before naming anyone who animated what at Fleischer besides stating that it was two brothers who started the place and they invented rotoscope

That's because people don't have the patience to sit thru 17 minutes of Popeye or 9 minutes of Superman. It's violent. Cops are using a Tommy Gun to repel robots. It doesn't do anything but knowing that robots are so strong they need a gangster execution and Superman means it's serious.

As masterful as they are, Fleischer Superman is just seen as obsolete in comparison to more modern superhero cartoons while Popeye is mostly just repetitive "Popeye and Bluto fuck around for seven minutes" shorts that never really engaged with the adventure serial stuff of the source comics beyond the single Goon Island short.

Walt was and still is just as much a mascot for Disney (the company) as Mickey Mouse is.

In what way? Supes feels comfy in these shorts. Crime fighting on a Sunday feels better than Gotham.

>>152477464
Dave took over the company and ran in to the ground. Max had the Hitler stash which scared animators to Disney. It's easy to forget Fred Quimby hated cartoons, Leon Schlesinger hated every but Porky

Nigga which you smokin?

Full animation is very high effort key-jangling, when it comes back it'll draw people back. The only hurdle is that the industry's in a race to make the cheapest show that nobody watches.

Osamu Tezuka exploited his animators so hard that they literally died working but nobody care
