Okay, just got done with the episodes. I have to say, I reeeeally liked them both for many reasons and feel they gave a lot to talk about! Not least of which is I think those were the two funniest TLH episodes I've seen in a while. I'll start composing my review now.

Alright, so, here's the deal. I got all ready, the whole setup, double redbull, the works, but my stream started spazzing out on me, it wouldn't give me sound. But thankfully our friends at our site came to my rescue and I was able to watch both episodes in full. One quirk I noticed however is that the episodes were aired in reverse order on TV, with the Lori episode first. I guess they thought it was the stronger, stickier episode, and of course they're right because Lori is fucking hilarious, but that Rusty episode wasn't bad! In fact, it's the one I want to talk about first because it's the one I saw first!Ther are a lot of things I liked and want to mention about this episode. Now, where to begin...First of all, the opening was very very mysterious. I know everyone must be asking the same question: where was Stella, dude? I know this place takes in the future, so is she on a trip, did she leave, what? It went totally unmentioned which I thought was unusual, usually when one of the gang is missing they throw in a 'oh yeah, x is busy cuz his dad is making him do y', that kind of thing. Here it's just like...Stella's gone, and Kara's totally usurped her place. Incredibly mysterious opening.Now, to talk about the episode and what made me laugh about it. It's hard to know where to begin. You know, last week I said that the string of good to great Loud House episodes was broken by that Spy Dames episode. But then it occurred to me, that's a future episode out of order, so technically the streak is still alive. But in THIS premiere, boy, I thought both of these episodes were great which, I know, sounds RIDICULOUS considering it's a Rusty episode, but hear me out about it first.
>>152487024Now first of all, that joke they made when Rusty tells them about his problem and Liam tells them about how it reminds him of this hen that isn't allowed to date this rooster on his farm because of his income, and then the gang immediately starts coming up for a plan for this rooster instead of Rusty, that shit made me laugh. Why pose? It was a funny joke. For me, it was the joke of the episode, though there were other funny ones, mostly from Kara who, I believe, had her best showing ever in this episode. She is legit hilarious and fucking works with this friend group. I-you know what? She's in. She's in as far as I'm concerned. This girl definitely brings something to the table comedywise.Okay, what else...? Oh yeah, I was surprised to see the girl from the fucked up date episode back and that she'd made up with Rusty, I thought that was interesting. Now, when the two parents came in and saw each other, I admit, for an instant I had the ridiculous thought to myself, 'Oh shit, is this like when Joseph and his half-sister he didn't know was his half-sister fell in love?' I actually went there for like one second, like maybe this was Rusty's dad's ex wife or some crazy situation like that, but no, they were just business rivals. Much more understandable. Actually I was sweating that bit so hard that I forgot what the mom looks like. Is she hot? I just kept thinking about how similar Rusty and his girlfriend looked, lel.Again, a couple of more funny jokes. After Zach bragging that she might not want him back after being with him on their fake date, Rusty saying 'I picked you specifically for this because I knew you were the only one where that could never happen', pretty good. I know Stella would have been up for this, she's a bro, but the fact Kara was and didn't high-hand the guys was something I thought was really cool.
>>152487030She's obviously way cooler than most of them, but up for their plans and doesn't mind helping out in a role the typical girl character of her type would need all four of the other guys to beg her to do and grovel and the usual bullshit, Kara didn't ask for that. She groaned once, but then accepted it.Anyway, she's the vehicle for some pretty funny interactions in this episode and Rusty's gf's impression of her was pretty funny too. I was always intrigued by her but I have to say this is the episode where Kara really won me over. Good character, good pick-up for the gang, I'm looking forward to seeing more of her in Linc and Friends eps.Lastly, and something I have to mention because it's a big deal to me, I LOVE that they included a song part here. I think the musical aspect is such an underrated, important part of this show. I really cannot emphasize that enough. I love whenever TLH offers up a piece of original music for an episode. It goes with the show like peanut butter and jelly and is always a big highlight.So yes, despite me being a Lincoln maniac and this episode featuring only a bit of Lincoln, I thought it was a great prove-it episode for Kara and had a lot of really funny jokes, really good entertainment overall. The only bits I thought dragged on were the Zach bits with the gf's mom, honestly, he's not even as funny as Rusty's girlfriend. But that said, I liked this one a lot. Now time to review the big one. Oh yeah, and lastly, another thing I liked about the episode: no wacky faces, totally adhered to the expression style, no cheek bulging up to obscure the eyes or anything like that. Perfect style. Just good solid humor that came from the characters.

The Lori episode. Now this one was hilarious. Lori is, hands down and without a doubt, the funniest character in this entire show. Bringing her back was a masterstroke of good decisionmaking. Did you notice how the episode starts? Just her and Leni sitting on her bed, scrolling through their phones like the good old days? Because I noticed, and I made face like that Radiohead album cover. You're hoooome, fuck, I'm happy. She's back where she belongs. So good. Okay, I need to start talking about the episode itself or else I'll just keep gushing. Oh man.Lori just always makes me laugh pretty hard, I don't know what to say. I have a huge soft spot for characters like her and Lori's like the ultimate of that: girls that pretend they're tough and pretend and even look like they're Stacies but are really just big dorks. That stuff is always, I find, extremely charming. The showpieces that display how maximally neurotic Lori is when she's not pretending to be her siblings' drill sargeant I think really make the character. Some people want tough Lori, but fuck that, insecure Lori is so much funnier. And she always was both anyway, just like people have multiple sides to them, here we see Lori's massively insecure side, like in that selfie rivalry episode with Carol. I dug that ep and this one reminded me of it.Anyway, Leni trying to protect her from the news was very funny, as was the way Lynn just bluntly gave it to her and remarked upon it so nonchalantly, 'that was quick'. The perfect duality between the feminine girl and the masculine girl. A great pick. Lola would have been good in this part as well but then the contrast between her and Leni wouldn't have been as funny, she's a pretty mature girl and would have freaked out and tried to protect Lori too if I'm real about it. It's only someone like Lynn that truly doesn't get it that could have done that.

And anyway, who am I kidding? I'd line up at the end of a ten mile line if it meant I got to flirt with Lori for just a couple of second. The mortician dude was funny though I've never heard one refer to himself as being in 'the reaping business'. The guy that made Lori pay for his drinks was pretty funny. See? It's not just making fun of dudes having to form a line, the girls have to eat a little shit too. I like that. I dig when it's fair.Okay, now to the whole sequence with the barista guy. I have to admit, I don't watch any advertising for future episodes or anything like that, so they really fucking had me going there for a second. I thought that through this series of misadventures, they were going to develop some type of real attraction or romance. Lori's ploys and excuses were pretty cute and funny and I really dug her outfit for this episode, cool alt. But anyway, they swerved me with the fact that after taking the perfect fake pic he really did have a girlfriend and Lori broke them up. She had to fix it between them. It feels classic while at the same time really novel. I don't think I've ever seen a cartoon do quite this plot, the 'the guy had a girlfriend all along and now the protag has to admit to their BS' plot.

This is a good show, man.Now as for the big reveal with Bobby, they got me with that too. I thought Bobby DID have some chick and Lori WAS going to have to meet her, of course I thought it was going to be some misunderstanding also, but I wasn't a hundred percent positive. I think I thought there wasn't enough time left in the episode for them to do something like this right so it had to be some type of fakeout. I used metaknowledge. But yeah, in the end, it was just a cutout. That was a relief, man. I didn't want Bobby finding love so quickly either. Anyway, the message of the episode is one that I can really get behind, it was funny, some great family moments (Leni's a great second for Lori), just some really good Loud House, man. New but good. I hesitate to say classic-style, because some of these explorations of the character were definitely new, but very interesting nonetheless and a cool episode. I will say, the only thing I DIDN'T like about it was all the fake smiles where the cheeks bulge up to obstruct the lower eyes. They did a lot of that this episode and it just doesn't look good. There's a way to do that expression that The Loud House used strictly for many seasons and they should just try and adhere to that one. I think it's important to retain that long running unified artstyle, very important not to get sloppy, just stick to the...whatever, the expression 'rules', I guess, what came before, I think that would be to their benefit. It wasn't ridiculous Gumball-level shit but still, I think the classic way looks better.

Watching her explore herself and what it's like to be alone romantically, I honestly think it makes for some pretty interesting TV, but only because I know she'll end up back with Bobby once they realize they're each other's true loves. The Lori episode was fun to see how she deals with the break up and the twist of Bobby not really being with anyone was funny. Though, he just randomly heads into Royal Woods now? It was a simple episode, but not bad. The Rusty and Amber episode was pretty much the typical Romeo and Juliet plot. but it wasn't bad. Something I noticed was that when he called the friends over it was Lincoln, Zach, Liam, and Kara. There was no Stella or Clyde. It was different, but kind of liked they want to do some different setups , wished they touched on that more. It's still funny Amber looks like she's related to him. It was fun. The prison break Wylde Pak episode was funny. I loved they added some horror moments in the pretty much straight prison break movie style episode. The other was was nice. Felt bad for Jack, but glad Lily was there to help.

I say think because while I could see a qt in the background at Jean-Juan's, I think there was a cutie in Lori's episode too except I could never take my eyes off Lori whenever she was onscreen in her cute outfits so I just...couldn't look away. I'm glad these shared premiere threads have done something to quash the beef that was brewing between TLH fans and Wylde Pak fans.
