Why do 80's cartoons get more love and respect than ones from the 90's and 2000's?
>>152516228They had cooler concepts and designs because of the toyetic nature of cartoons back then. 90s and 2000s is basically all comedy shit that people won't remember unless they watched several episodes of it. Seeing snippets of and having nostalgia for something like Thundercats is easier because it just looks cool and memorable regardless of how much someone actually watched it
>>152516228Captain Planet gets love & respect? I don't know about that...But >>152516272 makes a good point. These were cartoons made to sell toys, especially big expensive vehicles and building pieces. Kids would battle and mash them all together, so the shows were about big battles in gimmicky changing tanks and planes or with superpowers and deluxe accessories. Nowadays very few toys are sold and most of the money is in "managing the brand", ie, licensing it for video games, movies, and virtual merch like skins. So the shows are more boring.
>>152516228>Captain Planet>Love and respect
>>152516228in what fucking world? when was the last time you saw captain n get respect?
>>152516228I’d rather watch all of these than any of the slop produced in the last 15 years.
>>152516393Kek I didn't notice Captain planet was there and yeah even if that show was ass, Planet's design is cool and he has lore. Kids love lore in their shows to a certain extent. Not hints at lore or allusions to a bigger story that never comes, but straight forward, clearly defined rules and roles for characters and their setting
>>152516228Gatchaman is 70s and >>>/a/
>>152516569Good bait but you know very well that's 1980s American Voltron.
>>15251622880’s kids wrote the books and magazines
I'm an 80s kids so I have some genuine nostalgia googles for some of this stuff, I have no idea what the fuck is wrong with the rest of you
>>152516421Uhhhh… When people realized it was Ed’s first role?
People trash 80s cartoons all the time.
>>152516228>inside of you are two wolves
80s cartoons taught morals/important life lessons. Moral courage is the key to a happy fulfilling life.
The 80s bred the biggest audience of consoomer drones in history which is why the entire decade is still monetized and rebooted to this day. Literally everything that 80s people cherish is a commercial.
>>152516646If I was watching it in 1979 no it isn't
>>152517380Networks were refusing to fund anything but limited animation (e.g. Flintstones where heads had separate mouths, where backgrounds scrolled indefinitely, etc.) so not surprisingly shows subsidized by toy companies got traditional animation back and people liked it.I mean, I didn't but I understood.
>>152516228They often had toys you'd buy so you'd have more attachment to otherwise forgotten characters, even side characters got toys so at least a good amount of people would remember them. It's why most CN shows are dead or forgotten but Ninjago is still both going and fondly remembered.
>>152516228Bigger mythos.Sure they were toy driven, but that forced the creators to make a lot of lore and more characters. Giving that mythic feel to the franchises.
>>152516228Because after all the chores and schoolwork, those were the rewards children looked forward to every week.
>>152516569That's Battle Of The Planets, you uncultured swine, and it's like really super different from Gatchaman.
