Today: Smile's final chapterTomorrow: starting a new series: Drama!
Lets see if I do this rightLast thread with the first 7 chapters:>>152458418
>>152543121Isn't this the comic series where the author/artist draws a prepubesant girl taking a huge dump?
>>152543150Not to my knowledge
>>152543150Stephen King wasnt involved with this comic
>>152543150If not I'm gonna need you to remember which comic that is.
>>152543150>>152543267Yes it was called Guts when she had IBS
>>152543228>Gets a C>Told to try harderFuck off that's a passing grade
Done! Posting the extras in a few minutes.
>>152543306You need to try harder anon.
>>152543244Raina! No! That's cultural appropriation!!! Yo're gonna get cancelled!!!
I'm blown away by how vapid and stupid and pointless this is. Is this REALLY the biggest struggle this person had in their life? Like, holy shit what?
>>152543256Loser. I always take candy when offered. It's such a nice treat.
>>152543363For an average kid who's 13 or 14? Probably.
>>152543308Thanks OP.>>152543306Curse of intelligence, if teachers know you're capable of getting an A they push you harder than kids they know can only scrape a C. I remember that shit because I was good at maths but didn't put any effort in because I found it boring as fuck.
>>152543363Nothing wrong with that. She doesn't present this as the most important thing in the universe. But it's relatable to kids getting braces and sprinkles general coming of age stuff around the subject to make it a more complete whole.
>>152543363>>152543388Her parents' marriage begins falling apart in the next book. She's also been vocal that she'll never write a book about the fallout of it because she just zoned out during that time (she's also said her parents' are still friends but still) and considering she had a divorce herself, I don't blame her
And here she is with her smile, thank you for reading. A new series tomorrow!
>>152543461Thank you. Feels a little awkward having a whole thread for just the last 10 pages but still, no way around it.
Thank you for the great comic, OP!
>>152543210This page always makes me smile (2010). I've had this experience of being worried about what my friends would think of a physical change, and relieved when they didn't care.Who you ARE is what matters.
>>152543306just barely, though in highschool it's kind of a nothing burger. I'm glad I never took any AP classes or tried to be valedictorian
>>152543308Thank you, OP.High school did end up giving her a new confident self.
>>152543363>Is this REALLY the biggest struggle this person had in their life? What the fuck gave you the impression the author believes that it was? It's a comic for pubescent kids about childhood experiences they can perhaps relate to and feel more normal and less alone in the kinds of thoughts and experiences they have themselves. It's like the opposite of self-absorbed.
Now do Sisters!
>>152545048Im going Smile>Drama>Sisters>Ghosts, and then I'll see if i can find the rest online to storytime
>>152543244How old ARE footies?
>>152545134I thought ghosts got storytimed pretty recently
>>152543461Would >>152543415Damn thats brutal as fuck >>152543363Losing your teeth as a teen is pretty fucked so I think writing a story around it would be interesting even on a surface level. Plus it relates heavily to tweens
>>152543293I don't think IBS can be cured. It CAN be managed.
>>152543415I thought it was said they got a divorce around when she was in her twenties, right? Would be the best possible age for your parents to split up
>>152545502Oh rightShe just had a stomach bug
>>152545589>Okay, the thing is, my parents did eventually get divorced...but not for another six years after the story takes place! They tried really hard to make it work, and honestly, there's no "story" to their breakup, so I didn't want to include an epilogue in Sisters that took the reader into the future, or explain their grown-up issues. I found out my parents' marriage was struggling when I was 14, and was confused and disoriented for the next six years of my life. I wanted to capture that confusion and uncertainty from the point of view of my teen self, without a narrator explaining everything. Perhaps it doesn't make for the best 'ending' to a story...but real life doesn't always create neat endings. (My parents are still good friends, by the way! They're both great people, and everyone is much happier now.)
Does anyone have some fan art?
>>152545134Ive got guts hereaHR0cHM6Ly9tZWdhLm56LyMhYXdSQ1NSS0MhS1hFZmxRYmk0U1RjNHJJZUpZNWhkQ0FxdlFCamdwTndVRUc3Mm9lcWhsUQ==
>>152545134>>152546500Thanks, Anon!
>>152546500
>>152546500Thank you.
>>152546055Closest thing I got
>>152543121Thanks for storytiming OP
Raina does cute art.

>>152546055I mean got...>1/2
>2/2
>>152546734Needa frank face edit
god i forgot how much i loved her comics as a kid. still do really
>>152547833>>152547852Artist?
>>152548397>uncropped pic literally has the artist's signature in the bottom left cornerJesus Anon, how much spoonfeeding do you need?
>>152548439I look there styles are more exotic than Raina. I'm so curious.
>>152545134Appreciate your effort but Drama was storytimed less than a year ago and we do Ghosts EVERY year. I think it'd be more efficient to go straight to storytiming Sisters, especially considering it takes place during Smile.
>>152545607>(My parents are still good friends, by the way! They're both great people, and everyone is much happier now.)That's good to hear. It's a bummer but sometimes they just aren't the one, and marriage can be tough for some. Sometimes friendship works best.
>>152543220¡AY CARAMBA!
>>152543121Bumpu
Another bump
>>152543121I totally relate to Raina back in 6th grade I got braces and I hated wearing them but in 8th grade I have them off of my teeth and Thank Gosh, I don't have fake friends in high school.
>>152543150OP doesn't want to admit they like scat shit
>>152552792THIS CITY NEEDS A HERO!
>Raina Telgemeier’s #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestselling graphic novel is now available in eBook! Callie loves theater. And while she would totally try out for her middle school’s production of Moon over Mississippi, she can’t really sing. Instead she’s the set designer for the drama department’s stage crew, and this year she’s determined to create a set worthy of Broadway on a middle-school budget. But how can she, when she doesn’t know much about carpentry, ticket sales are down, and the crew members are having trouble working together? Not to mention the onstage AND offstage drama that occurs once the actors are chosen. And when two cute brothers enter the picture, things get even crazier!
Done!
>>152553701Slut.
>>152549622How long ago was BSC?
>>152553584Well, it'll be funny to see our hero get cucked by a fag again.
>>152554082Who exactly is our hero here?
>>152554157The star of the book. I couldn't remember her name.
>>152554177Nah fuck her. Annoying brat
Reading bump
>>152553594>GurihiruWell that's something. From a colorist for a Scholastic graphic novel to making comics for Marvel and DC.
>>152553584holy fucc, i was just looking for this book as a pdfthank you so much for this
>>152553809>>152553816>AIMPepeNostalgiaClock.jpg
>>1525540152021. Since it's the comic's 20th anniversary (and the original novel series 40TH!) I see a rerun in the foreseeable future, at least of the first comic.

>>152553620>>152553635Can anyone read music and if so, does the notes here form an actual cohesive song?
Thank you, OP.Any theateranons here? What was your high school theater experience like?
>>152543306A C today is where an F was twenty years ago. Teachers have been systematically bullied by admin into inflating grades.
>>152561315I don't think that tracks
How long is this garbage?
>>152561160Closest thing I had was a group project where my entire group each had to do different monologues in front of kids from earlier grades, it was pretty fun. We did lots of improv>>152562353I think same lenght as Smile
>>152559268Based Raina encouraging kids!
>>152543278Nice art.
>>152561160I took a theater elective in highschool and hated it. Acting just isn't for me, especially live stuff. Plus everyone there was pretty gay and obnoxious so there's that too
>>152545594nah you're right the doctor tells her she has IBS later in the book
>>152564339Mike?
>>152564870>>152564885>>152564899Zesty

bump
>>152565497What are you trying to say here, Anon?
>>152565237This WILL be on the test
>>152565133>2nd panel>Light blue books with a yellow circle in the middleSubtle.
>>152543228girl you didn't even try to get sean?
>>152543363i saw a similarly useless comment on the autobiography of the guy who's kid died, complaining he was 'whiny'. that's how stupid your comment is.
>>152543121What a fantastic little comic.
>>152567458Very.
>>152564850>The flierWeeb Matt confirmed
Extra Rain'
Yeah, I feel this one. I remember being disappointed trying an Eskimo Pie and finding it was literally just any old ice cream bar.
>>152565237Raina what the fuck
Raina's old Take-Out series is my personal big lost media find. So little of it is online.
>>152570103This one is oddly bittersweet. One reason being the "Back when I thought" line. Another reason why is because...well...it's only one page of what's clearly more...
Would (You) be interested in a proper storytime of all the extra comics (after Drama, of course)?
>>152570855Sisters yes, everything else no
>>152571025No, I mean of the standalone mini comics I've been bumping with. There's enough for its own storytime.
