Is there a chance it could be good?
>>152555144Absolutely notI'm genuinely shocked they're even attempting to make another one
>>152555144Not in the slightest
We'll be lucky if Julie Kavner is intelligible.
It will bomb hard and kill the show faster, yeah. That could be good.
>>152555144It should at least be well animated
>>152555144The first one was barely decentProbably one of the most insecure cartoon show to movie adaptations I've ever seen
>>152555144Can they not use AI to enhance the voice actors?

I didn't care when the first Simpsons movie came out and I'll care even less when this one comes outwhich WILL have AI in it
>>152555144Nope
>>152555144I don't think so, Tim.
>>152555144If I hear Marge's voice in a theater I think I will just want to cry and phone my grandma (she's dead)
>>152555144Bringing this back feels so random.
Yes. A very slim chance, but a chance nontheless. The show has actually improved since Matt Selman became showrunner. There's no guarantee that the quality will carry over to the movie, but I would say that there's a greater chance for this movie to be good now than at any point since the first one.
>>152555144not in a million years,no
>>152555257Quite the opposite. It's gonna be the first Simpsons-related thing many people will have any interest in watching. Might even get them to seek out the latest episodes at the time of the movie's release
>>152555144>>152555214>>152555227Same things said about the 1st movie and it turned out pretty good. I'll give it another chance.
>>152555144Are they going to show Bart's naked uncensored penis again or is that too much for Disney? I can't see them allowing any character to be naked in the sequel
let's speculate the amount of "current" events that will already be outdated by the time of its release
>>152558120I can't remember anything but spider pig and that's only because they did late '00s style total annihilation meme repetition advertising like a Will Smith movie
>>152558121It won't be a proper sequel without nudity
>>152558121>>152558145Fuck off Al Jean. Selman veto'd shit like this.
>>152558121>>152558145They can't do the Kwik-E-Mart promotion again either since they removed Apu from the show, so he won't be in the sequel

>>152558164Open a Kwik e Mart in LA and have the Problem with Apu guy run it 24/7

>>152558249>>152558252More jokes hit than didn't, the best Simpson's content in years up until that point.Could it be argued that it wasn't 'worth' a full theatrical release and should have just been a 4 parter for the show? Maybe. But it was a fun theater experience. A good time.

>>152558345He's Matt Groening
>>152558345Only thing people remember about the first movie is Spider Pig and Bart's dick >>152558351>The scene of a naked Bart on his skateboard was Matt Groening's idea, who had always wanted to have Bart skateboarding fully naked >Groening read about a town that had to get rid of pig feces in their water supply, which inspired the plot of the film and Homer adopting a pet pig
>>152555214Only thing that comes to mind is that they're actually planning to finally end the show with this movie
>>152558378Nope, Matt said there's no end in sight and they renewed the show for more seasons that are coming out after the second movie
>>152558343He turned himself into the joke. If he wasn't an egomaniacal nepobaby with a chip on his shoulder, he could've made bank on that.

>>152559251What other "fetishes" did this guy force into the show might I ask?
>>152555144No. The first one was terrible.
>>152555144No. Next question.
>>152558345Because he's a shotacon and gay for Bart. Seems pretty straightforward.
>>152559822Why do you have that pic saved?
>>152555144Maybe if its the cannon ending to the Simpsons
>>152555251Came here to say thisIf it had come out in 2017 it would have been sad but 2027 Marge is going to sound like death walking
Of course there's a chance. There's also a chance that the next anon to post on this board will win a cool million in the lottery tomorrow, but neither of these scenarios are particularly likely.
>>152558120Yeah but the first movie didn't have all the voice actors on life support.I wouldn't be surprised if they casually write marge out of most of the movie in some way just to avoid having her speak.
>>152560128It's not even just Marge anymoreHarry, Hank, and even Dan sound awful these daysImagine listening to this shit in a goddamn Dolby theater
>>152560198That's because they just use their normal voices and can't be bothered to actually voice act anymore.
>>152558121They'll balance it out by instead showing naked Lisa.
>>152558749Bart was naked in the first movie. So, Lisa is naked in the second movie. It's only fair.
Also if you wondered why Marge sounds like shit in the HD episodes, it's because Julie can't be bothered to actually do the the voice anymore and is just using her normal speaking voice.
>>152560304You sure about that? Her normal speaking voice sounds like her throat is bleeding.

>>152563853I am not. This long dead series can end this year or go for another 36 years for all I care
>>152555251The hope is that they recorded the dialog years ago in advance and are just using it now.
the main reason this is getting made is because Disney feels it's necessary to keep the franchise in the public eye and not forgotten about
>>152564742It'll continue to be forgotten until they fix the several problems the franchise has.
>>152564742>the main reason this is getting made is because Disney feels it's necessary to keep the franchise in the public eye and not forgotten aboutwhy though? most people moved on and stopped caring about it a long time ago.

>>152565642The movie wouldn't have been any more watchable if /co/ wrote it.
>>152555144Who's writing and directing?
>>152565642The movie was good and simpsons was still popular when it came out. Some autists on the internet crying about it doesn't matter. Nowadays it feels like no one cares about the simpsons but it still get big numbers I guess.
They're going to have to use some of said treatments on Julie Kavner to get her to survive the recording of this.
it hinges entirely on the main cast voicing it. if they recast there's a small chance it could be watchable, if they're sticking with the main cast it's going to be as cringeworthy as late hd simpsons. no one can do the voices anymore.
>>152558120first simpsons movie was still just barely in the era where they were slumming it and burning their reputation but it was still a nominally viable popculture product, hadn't quite become a freakish embarrassment yet.
>>152566408>The movie was good and simpsons was still popular when it came out. Some autists on the internet crying about it doesn't matter.
Dan Castellaneta's Homer voice is identical to his Grandpa voice from Season 6.
>>152555144Not unless they get someone unrelated with the show in the last 25 years to write and animate it.>>152566408If that's your memories of it, don't rewatch it. That movie sucked. >>152569025This is the only time I can recall any jokes about Bart being fat. Other than the episode where he becomes obese.https://youtu.be/wpAU5TdyS38?si=vTQPalIpvBnEO9g-
>>152568837>Not unless they get someone unrelated with the show in the last 25 years to write and animate itas well as voice it
The first movie was already so anodine and risk-adverse.
i agree it would take an all new young cast and crew to make anything good with this
>>152569136>>152569025only other thing is his running lines in Simpsons Hit and Run, but like 3/5 characters make comments to themselves about being out of shape, and Lisa is the only one who doesn't mention being fat.
>>152569025the show will selectively highlight his body design for fat jokes but typically he's average and not fat.
>>152555144>Is there a chance it could be good?If it ain't the LATAM dub of the movie will at least make it more watchable since the OG voice actors are back.
>>152559522>>152559251This just means Lisa is no longer protected from the same humiliation Al put Bart through

>>152561071this is when i stopped watching new sunday episodes.
>>152555144simpsons hasn't been good for nearly 2 decades at this point.
>>152565190yeah even without the issues the show has I'm just tired of the main family and most of the side characters at this point. I don't need another episode about homer being an idiot and marge having a crisis, I don't need another episode lisa discovering herself or bart's self esteem being challenged.

>>152569723if anything he made the show just a little too innocuous and wholesome for its own good
>>152569736Blame Bob's Burgers. It showed that milquetoast quirk chungus was what people wanted and that hard driving shock humor and edge is out.
>>152569736>>152569753The show really wasn't edgy anyway after the Scully seasons when they lost George Meyer.

>>152569814that's because Al is the personification of Reddit
>>152569736Oh well at least he made the kids act like kids and also got rid of Jean's gay MilhousexLisa ship. Plus the 4-5 marriage crisis episodes every season.
>>152569814>and popular media that was already getting shat on like the Star Wars prequelsthat was an extension of what he and Mike Reiss had always done, which was make fun of media/pop culture
>>152569914>Plus the 4-5 marriage crisis episodes every seasonthe worst. god Jean needed to stop doing those.
>>152569973Al divorced his first wife so he felt the need to insert this into the show multiple times every season, I guess as a form of catharsis/therapy for himself.
>>152558145>>152558155I am reminded of how nudity jokes were a staple of the show from the Ullman shorts through Season 6 but then largely disappeared in the Oakley/Weinstein seasons. Guess they didn't find it funny.
>>152566377THIS is what I'm most interested in. I hate how so many press releases will prioritize "[old-ass IP] has nth installment in development" and just leaving it at that. The IP alone is not what will determine whether I'll be interested; it's the creatives at the helm of the project. But obviously most consoomers feel the opposite way and will gladly go watch, say, Toy Story 5 because it's TOY STORY and not because Andrew Stanton is writing and directing. I hope Disney reveals who's in charge of Simpsons Movie 2, and soon.
>>152561071the muscular ear joke was funny.
