Marvel comics is like The Simpsons or Family Guy. They aren’t kept around for their quality or comic book profits, they are kept around for the merchandise and for the pedigree.

Family Guy and Simpsons are famous in the pop culture and famous for being long running shows, cancelling those shows would end their longest running streak and some other company may want to keep making episodes and surpass them.

If Disney closed down Marvel comics division, they wouldn’t lose money. But they would lose having such a long running comic company (and worse, DC would be seen as the winner of the competition).

Plus they use the characters made popular from the comics to make merchandise.

Disney is using a few droplets of their money to keep Marvel going and going. The only time Disney ever stepped in was during the Hydra Cap stuff where it was trending on social media that Steve Rogers was now a Nazi (where it even caught the attention of Chris Evans).
