I legitimately liked Nick Fury as the Man on the Wall. It was a pretty neat role in general. And now they've utterly retired Nick Fury, replaced him with SLJ, and also abandoned the concept of TMotW entirely. Fuck them. They can't even throw us a pity bone.
>>152563192Remember when age of ultron ended and they:"there was so many time travel that it cant be done now!!!!"and in the next week Hank just pull the young x-men to the present?same shit, Marvel dosent have a editorial.
>>152563855Wait, wasn't that the same writer?
>>152563192>the Man on the WallWhen was this?
>>1525645192014 Original Sin
>>152563865That's just Bendis!
What happened to Nick Fury as the Watcher's replacement?
>>152564564Goddamn BENDIS!
>>152564583Who knows.
>>152566490I'm sorry I askedThat particular saga was a massive turning point for the "cosmic" side of Marvel, and you're right—the status quo has shifted again recently. Here is the breakdown of how Uatu returned and where Nick Fury Sr. ended up.1. The Death and the "Unseen"During the Original Sin (2014) event, it was revealed that Nick Fury Sr. was the one who killed Uatu. Fury wasn't acting as a villain; he was the "Man on the Wall," a secret protector of Earth who realized Uatu’s eyes were the only way to gain the intel needed to stop an impending alien threat. As punishment for the murder, the other Watchers cursed Fury. He was transformed into The Unseen—a hooded, chained cosmic being forced to observe the Earth just as Uatu did, but without the power to ever interfere or speak.
>>1525666762. How Uatu ReturnedUatu’s resurrection happened at the conclusion of the Empyre (2020) event: * The Catalyst: After a massive war between the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and the Cotati, The Unseen (Fury) used his powers to investigate some mysterious ancient weapons used during the conflict. * The Revival: These weapons were "First Race" technology. When Fury analyzed them, the energy surge was so great it essentially "rebooted" the cosmic cycle. Uatu was burst back into existence, appearing with only one eye (since Fury still "held" the essence of the other). * The Reason: Uatu’s return was framed as a necessity for the "Reckoning War"—a conflict involving the very first war in the history of the universe.3. What Happened to Nick Fury Sr.?Once Uatu was back, Fury’s role as The Unseen became redundant. However, he didn't just go back to being a regular spy: * Cosmic Sidekick: For a while, Fury acted as an agent/herald for Uatu, helping him navigate the "Reckoning War." * The Multiversal Exit: In the 2023 comic Fury #1 (celebrating Nick Fury’s 60th anniversary), the original Nick Fury Sr. finally decided to retire. * Where he is now: He used a "Zodiac Key" to step through the Door of All Worlds. He has essentially left the main Marvel Universe (Earth-616) to travel the multiverse, looking for a world where he can "actually do some good" without the weight of his past sins.
>>152563192He's a WWII Colonel who saw active duty on multiple missions because people read war comics No wait, he's had super-serum so he can't age and we can keep writing stories about him but people don't read war comics now, what if he were a super-spy because people like James BondNow what if he led that spy agencyWhat if he got kicked out then decided he was in charge of secretly protecting the entire fucking planet like OMAC The One Man S.H.I.E.L.D., because I like cocaineWait how would the Watcher not notice himEasy he kills Uatu then gets forced to take his job since he's already doing half of itSay, you really DO like cocaineYou haven't heard the best part yet, he has a sonHOUSEOFIDEAS
>>152566837You forget that when Fury became the Unsee, Bucky was the new "man in the wall"...for 5minutes until they want him back in Black Widow comics.
>>152564519When he fucked Amanda Waller
>>152566960I never realized Fury went piggin.
yeahits a shame
The weirdest thing is how everyone acts like Fury Jr is the same and handed him the keys to Shield while he was barely an active officer in teh army. They had him fucking talk in a WW2 vet memorial as if he ever met these people.
>>152569850They’re walking back on it recently. In the current Cap run Ross explicitly calls him Fury’s son and all that. Still ridiculous in any case.
>>152563192>It was a pretty neat role in general. It was a completely stupid and needless retcon that didn’t add anything interesting or entertaining to the character and only made Fury more convoluted
>>152569850Fury Jr is so retarded.
>>152572342and he will never go away... because he is a black man
>>152572342He’s worse than retarded. Every time he pops up I still can’t fathom that he’s actually a real character.
