>>152568713It's pretty great, it just has a few flaws, some of which are basically endemic to this kind of movie>fucking vomit-inducingly hideous art>plot about an animal being sentient but the species still lives a life that makes it seem like a dumb animal, and invites the lethal treatment that animal receives. even though we study that animal like crazy, and would have noticed by now if they were that smart, unless they somehow operate under Toy Story rules>One of said animals wanting to live more like a human, while the rest mock himthe plot and the food and everything were tremendous. Great performances...

One of the worst Pixar movies. Pinkava wrote a dull story with boring characters and an unappealing premise. Bird was brought late in development so he could salvage it, but he was unable to. Lasseter was too busy taking over WDAS and trying to save Meet the Robinsons, so he was unable to do much for Ratatouille either. This was made right during Disney's adquisition of Pixar, so development was a bit of a mess. It shows, cause there's a lack of polish to the writing, pacing and characterization here that you didn't find in other Pixar films at the time.

>>152570350it's amazing, everything about this post is wrong
Ratatouille was one of the Pixar' first misfires imo. Remy is a likeable enough lead, but Linguini and Skinner needed to be more interesting characters for the story to fully work. It's not that great of a story to begin with (everything regarding Linguini being Gusteau's son is a bore, and the romance isn't developed enough) It also could've been 10 mins shorter, cause it starts to drag. Ego's review is great, but movie as a whole doesn't cut it imo.
>>152570407why in the absolute ass would Skinner be a-you don't think he's 'the villain' or something, do you? He's a background character, a prop. the villain is Linguini's lack of confidence, and then the food cricket.
