>Itt: Marvel characters whose “fans” you think don’t actually read comics.

In my personal experience all Loki fans are MCUfags, for example. Same with GoTG, Strange, Starkfags.
>>
>>152571753
Squirrel Girl fans though in this instance don't blame em since her comics are trash
>>
>>152571753
GotG fans who read the comics exist but they get drowned out by MCUfags, They're always complaining about it
>>
Godzilla

Most Miles "fans" always get surprised when you tell them about his billion powers like his lightning sword or super saiyan form
>>
Moon Knight fans. All they know are the edits and whatever MCU did. Hell maybe not even the latter because there were MK fans who were mad he's white in Rivals as though Oscar Issac isn't also white.

Its so weird seeing SG become a fan favorite just through Rivals, I remember for the longest time people despised her
>>
>>152572114
I remember her being a fan favorite before the North comics. It's all a loop
>>
>>152572114
Well I shouldn't really say "fan favorite", shes closer to a FOTM that cosplayers and tik tok editors like using and interact with on a surface level because there isn't anything else to her
>>
>>152572114
I still kinda do comics wise since I'm a big Marvel villains fan but otherwise Rivals did an easy job making her likable and it helps that she's not convoluted in terms of character history or details.
>>
>>152572091
the majority are smug brown zoomers who are just happy a BIPOC stole the Spider-Man name from whitey and angers da chuds
>>
>>152571753
>>152572045
>>152572110
Your experiences must be limited then, specially with GotG fans. And Squirrel Girl was kinda popular here before the comics with wonky art.
>>
>>152572045
The cruelest monkeys paw of all time. Remember to keep quiet about that minor Marvel character you like or it could happen to youuuuuuuuuuu
>>
>>152572645
Lmao no one is bringing back the micronauts so I'm safe forever
>>
>>152572064
The comics decided to go full MCU synergy which managed to completely ruin most perception of the characters and they’re only now showing signs of letting go of the synergy (Star-Lord has his pre-MCU helmet back)
>>
>>152572045
I remember when the only time she got mentioned was powerscaling for shits and giggles. Wild she's now mainly mentioned for porn.
>>
>>152571753
Loki has fans from kid Loki days and Agent of Asgard
>>
>>152573113
>kid Loki days
>Marvel actually had good stories at the time, between the dreadful 2000s and 2010s
It feels so surreal

>>152572874
Didn't IDW publish a mini or something? And Marvel had a mini tie-in to some event like 15 years back, that didn't tie into the event like, at all, I think
>>
>>152572076
Wonder many Starling supporters actually read the comics compared to just not wanting Miles while a white girl.
>>
>>152572183
Squirrel Girl was popular when she was a literal who joke character Marvel would trot out to make fun of themselves every now and then. Once they decided to put her in the spotlight and give her comics her popularity cratered beyond normies just seeing Thing and liking Thing
>>
>>152573810
IDW did a reboot during the dying days of Transformers yeah, it sucked hard so no one remembers it
>>
>>152571753
There's at least one person out there who doesn't give a shit about movie Loki but really liked Journey into Mystery.
>>
>>152572045
Spider-Gwen too desu

They still show up from time to time. It's been a while, though.
>>
>>152574084
Good lord for a second I thought they revived Jarella then I remembered she had a cousin or something.
>>
>>152571753
Yeah everyone, go read the comics. Read Civil War 2. Read the shitty Slott version of Spiderverse as they fight Morlok the Inheritor or whatever the fuck he was called, read the 40 year long humiliation ritual of Peter Parker and the countless character assassinations of the X-Men, read Secret Empire with Captain Americhud discussing the merits of fascism while making a sad puppy face for twenty issues, read of the gestures of Marcus Immortus and Joyboy the reality warping baby, the comics are so much better guys.
>>
>>152571753
Most of them, really. Marvel books are so bad in general.
>>
>>152571753
>Dr. Strange fans are all MCUfags
Where the hell are you looking, anon? He’s had a decent comic fanbase here for a while (pre-MCU, even), and Rivals is probably adding more to his popularity than Multiverse of Madness ever did. There’s even an anon currently going through his Strange Tales stories and making threads about it on a near daily basis.
>>
you are annoyed with a specific person and are passively aggressively bitching about them here instead of addressing them directly
>>
I really can't blame zoomers and alphas honestly, I was part of the Burton / BTAS generation practically as a zygote and even though I read the comics voraciously later they never were as good as those versions to me to this day. The MCU was like that on fucking steroids.
>>
>>152574201
Marvel VS Capcom 3 probably did more for him than Rivals did but I agree with your sentiment. Strange was not quite a beloved character but he had a good number of fans well before his appearance in the MCU.
I distinctly remember how pissed people were at his death in Ultimatum.
>>
>>152574239
Oh, true, I forgot about MvC3.

God knows how. His theme in that kicks so much ass.

>Read the shitty Slott version of Spiderverse
I like the unhinged implication here there's a non-shitty one.
>>
>>152574213
>you are annoyed with a specific person and are passively aggressively bitching about them here instead of addressing them directly
Nta but arent we all?
>>
>>152574232
The Burton one had a lot of style, and the early cartoon had everything going for the setting, it's pretty hard to even compare. Media back then was so stylish.
>>

this is me and i can confirm i got into him through MVC3 lol

Venom
>>
>>152574232
I would say the greater majority of Batman fans don't really read comics outside of DC's evergreen Batman trades. My guess is that probably 80 percent of people who "read Batman" are doing year one, the long Halloween, tdkr, hush, the killing joke, and the man who laughs.
>>
>>152575392
Venom isn’t even in the MCU yet, is he?
