There must be a need to modernize or revamp in some significant capacity. Enough for artists to say they put their mark on it. That said, there was a specific time where they revamped the costume and I thought it was great. The first costume worn by Superior Spider-Man - Spock. Kept to the classic setup so at a difference he's recognizable, but with enough little flourishes to make it stand apart from any other basic varoatopms when you get a good look.
