Imagine if you finally bother to meet your neighbors over dinner and they constantly make jokes about you being the "grocery guy". They call you this and make stupid puns about "there he goes again, getting groceries", because that's all they know about you and think it's literally all you do. Maybe it's funny once and only because of the absurdity of it, but you would probably be much more comfortable laughing WITH them, if they actually knew you and made jokes about actually real things you do.I feel the same way with stupid jokes in media, where it's obvious the author doesn't know the source material or doesn't want to think at all about the realities of that universe, so they just tell stupid little jokes to "spice things up".It's ridiculous to make a joke about him owing taxes to the government. Not only does he not earn a wage or have a taxable income, but if they want to play that game, Wolverine could be a millionaire with a ridiculous passive income from all of the various pensions and Veteran benefits he accumulated over time. The thing is that pensions always get adjusted with inflation, because wives can inherit them and the government frequently does to appeal to the pensioners. But that is if Wolverine bothered to claim these benefits, which he probably doesn't.
