Why did people lose interest in Adventure Time after 2015?
>>

Zoomies are very fickle. Nothing they latch onto sustains interest.

why did someone make a big boob edit of a scene where a character is in despair over a beloved father figure

Steven universe exploding in popularity during this time took a sensible chuck of adventure time fanbase with it. Also adventure times fans at this point were annoyed about the quality of the episodes the crew were putting out.
Also cartoon network flat out barely advertising the show anymore giving it few reruns didn't help ether.

It can't have suffered too big of a popularity dip if it managed to get three spin-offs, as well as a potential fourth spin-off and movie. I don't think that's what this thread is really about, though.

At this point it's nostalgia-mining...and the skinsuit variant of such since the Fiona show is just an aging millenial soap opera.
>>
it was quite sad to see the community just die off basically overnight

Always thought the 2010-2013 years were the peak of the community anyway. Funny to think the show went on so long after that

>>152584093
I want to say it had a lot to do with losing Pen Ward as showrunner (around season 5, mid 2014). He didn't always have the best ideas but after he left it was really like the inmates running the asylum
>>
>>152584093
>the show went in a different direction over time and made a lot of fans stop watching
>other popular shows like Gravity Falls or Steven Universe came out and took attention away from AT
>AT was poorly marketed by Cartoon Network after about season 5 or 6
By 2017 a lot of people didn't even know the show was still on air. Thankfully the fan base has bounced back these last few years

it shifted gears from goofy episodic adventures to drama nonsense and I just wasn't interested, I stopped watching sometime after Jake had kids
>>
>>152584093
Started out as a goofy fantasy cartoon that felt like a really fun rpg adventure, but then slowly morphed into this hilariously overdramatic lesbian romance, for some reason. I stopped watching when I realized the show was never going back to what made it great in the first place.

I don't follow behind the scenes stuff for cartoons as I'm mostly a comics guy, so I never even knew why the change took place but just that it did and it sucked.

Creator let his new hipster friends break the love triangle and make the show about everything but the main character.

Women have to be victims no matter what. Their animalistic instinct at every minor inconvenience is to blame men.
In a woman's mind, men are at fault if she spills her drink because a man didn't put the cap on tight enough.
>>
>>152584093
Trannys still like it. Otherwise, there really isn't much there to sustain interest beyond shipping autism. It's not a very good cartoon.

What if Adventure Time tackled as many of the same beats as possible but every episode ended in Finn having sex.

Finn and FP still are together and then not, Marceline and PB still end up together, the Ice King and Golb and the Lich and Orgalorg all happen, but Finn's heirarchy of needs is satisfied and so are the audience's by not having him be sexually unsatisfied, as all the princesses of Ooo give him regular sexual release with their sexy bodies for all his valiant heroism, and the emotional beats he hits on his quest are instead done because he seeks things deeper than not getting hot sex with PB and Marceline, because he's still Finn the Human and everyone loves him and gives him fresh pussy to nut in whenever you want, I mean he wants.

Cause most of the writers with any talent had already left and what was left were people who neither talented enough to write good stories nor wanted to appeal to the target audience. Like if you were a teen who still liked cartoons at the time you'd probably just get into anime not waste your time with a show not meant for you.

Partly this, but I think Adventure Time got screwed by Stuart Snyder leaving CN in 2014.

Adventure Time and Regular Show (which actually got screwed harder) went from being the faces of Cartoon Network to being complete afterthoughts that got not rerurns very quickly. Some of it was probably due to TTGO! taking over the network, but I don't think that's the whole story given Gumball (produced by CN Europe) and Steven Universe (not reran much, but got promotion) didn't get the same treatment.

I think they saw Adventure Time and Regular Show as "old regime" shows that didn't fit Miller's vision for CN.
>>
I do think the general audience picked up on the show's decline. Not in the specifics that a lot of people here still grouse about like "Finn and FP's breakup was total BS" or "I'm upset PB and Marcy are implied to be gay". I don't think most viewers were as hung up on those sorts of things. But it's moreso the show's vibe shift: it just started feeling a lot less energetic and exuberant and became more low-key, like it didn't really have much new to offer but just kept chugging along in the background. Also CN stopped promoting it very much.
>>152584361
The show clearly did have a drop-off in popularity. Even though F+C has been able to demonstrate that there is still a great deal of nostalgia for the show, it's clearly just that: nostalgia, not a sustained and vibrant following at this point

Don't know if this is an unironic question but this tweet is from when the whole "the writers hate Finn idea" started coming over the section of the fandom that was turning on the show. Upset fans started tweeting at crew members with their complaints, and in response the crew basically mocked them in return. That's the context behind this pic; it's Alden taking the piss out of the critics. Frankly it's embarassing how much effort he went to to make this "joke", though it had the bizarre side-effect of getting lots of people to miss the bit and think it was literally true. Not long after this a lot of the crew stopped engaging like this on socials and deleted a lot of these tweets, which makes me wonder if management got wind of this and told them to quit beefing with unhappy fans.
>>
I remember when they did the Adventure Time x Minecraft crossover back in 2018 and thinking "this would have been the biggest hit ever if they had done it in 2013". Ironically I think both regained a bit of their popularity afterwards.
>>
Started as a whimsical series based Pen's childhood ideas and experiences. Became a bunch of hack writers trying to get themselves over with drama and lore.
>>
>>152584998
it's certainly a part of it. AT was dancing around the whole lore elements they introduced while GF was actively going down that route.
