Why were there so many "single parent" cartoons in the 90s?
>>
>>152585459
Well, champ..
>pulls out chair, turns it around and sits backwards on it
*Sigh*..It was unironically a different time, you know?

>Why were there so many "single parent" cartoons in the 90s?
disney didn't want people thirsting over Goofy's wife
>>
>>152585459
Can you name some examples?
>>
>>152585459
Continuing from old sitcoms where a parent (usually the mom) is dead or otherwise not around so the other can still be allowed to look for romance while looking out for their kid(s).
>>
>>152585459
Why do you ask questions you're already convinced you know the answer to?
>>

Dragon Ball Z, but that's anime
>>
>>152585459
Why did you put single parent in quotation marks?
>>
>>152586104
Who is a single parent in DBZ? King Cold?
>>
>>152586103
You could simply make statements instead.
>>
>>152585519
This but actually unironically. They wanted a father-son dynamic but they didn't want a mother figure around because it would come with implications that Goofy had sex at some point, which would take away from his family-friendly branding.
>>
>>152585519
Pete's wife is enough.

>they didn't want a mother figure around because it would come with implications that Goofy had sex at some point
Doesn’t the fact he has a fucking son pretty heavily imply he had sex at some point? I know back in the olden days Mickey and Donald were given nephews instead of kids for similar reasons, but they still had girlfriends.

It's one less character they have to animate.

Max could be adopted.
>>
>>152585459
I would totally fuck max up the ass
>>

Adoption standards were stricter back then.

Isn't that just as crazy

You and every other degenerate furry fag.
You aren't special.

the one Goku killed in his oozaru form, duh
>>

Linda Carder I presume?

Divorce rates peaked around the late 70s and early 80s so a lot of kids growing up on those decades knew what it was like
>>
>>152586947
This. No-fault divorce got legalized and there were a shit ton of couples who were sick of pretending to still love each other
>>
>>152586947
Peaked? It's still fucking going. I literally had a good number of co-workers that were single dads.
>>
>>152585459
There are lots of shows with single parents now. The reason is that cultural marxists want to destroy the nuclear family.
>>
>>152587196
More like women destroyed the nuclear family.
>>
>>152587158
>Peaked? It's still fucking going.
Ok but do you know what peaked means?
We're also assuming here Goofy was divorced instead of widowed and that to be a single dad you need to be married then divorced and not just have an accident.
>>
A lot of legislation in the 70s 80s and 90s was passed to make it easier for single-parent households to get by financially and that had a net negative effect on marriages.
>>
Not sure if it was the intent or not, but a bunch of black people think A Goofy Movie was a black movie.
>>
>>152587294
It's because of Powerline.
>>
>>152585459
to cut costs you just dont put caracters that you dont need in stories
>>
>>152585519
Alternatively they wanted their lady audience to know Goofy was still available.
>>
>>152586856
Grandpa Gohan...?
>>
>>152585459
Like several other anons said, divorce was much more common in the 90's.
>>
>>152586947
I was born in the 80s and, almost unique among my friends, my parents were still together and remained so until my mother's death in 2016.
The only friends I had who's parents stayed together were non-angloamericans. My best friend was half, but his parents are Opus Dei Catholics so that divorce was out of the question. All the others with married parents? Immigrant kids.
Divorce is extremely Angloprotestant, which is funny to me because they talk about the sanctity of marriage so fucking much.
>>
>>152587955
Divorce being common is a byproduct of early marriage being common. Your high school sweetheart is probably not actually your ideal partner for life.
>>
>>152588055
Probably. But then, those immigrant kids? All of their parents married young, too. My parents are practically ancient. My mum would be 80 this year were she still kicking.
So age, while absolutely a factor, isn't as big of one as people would like to think. It's cultural. And that culture is Angloprotestant
>>
>>152588114
Angloprotestant built the world we live in thoughever, so they'd better find a way to solve this one and soon, or all the systems of civilization that we depend on for survival will cease to exist, along with the people who depend on them. It wasn't the Catholics or the Browns who built all this, discovered powered flight, landed on the moon or constructed the internet, either.

I don't understand your post. Why are you injecting your own thoughts and calling them someone else's?

They are the ones who use it the most though

Roger Baxter is the greatest single cartoon dad of all time.
>>

He was gay with fat tits Tito.
>>
>>152585459

Rugrats

Chi Chi, damn near. Bulma's a close second, but Vegeta actually does participate...well, more than Goku, anyway.
>>
>>152590858
Usually it was because the mom had died.
>>
I think all the single dads should hang out sometime.
