I don't know how much of an unpopular opinion this is, but personally I find Bucky to be a more interesting character than Steve. The problem with the latter is that he's supposed to be such a paragon of virtue that there's no real pathos to him. He will never compromise or be tainted, he'll always be morally right and inspiring and everything. And it's fine, these incorruptible characters can still be complex and interesting. But only when there's an end in sight. But the problem with Rogers is that by being this icon, he comes off as a hypocrite considering the world he inhabits. He deals with manipulative super spies and killers, and always claims the moral high ground when things get too dark for him. He walks back and gets to claim his soul while everyone else makes the hard choices, then he moralizes and everyone sits there and worships him. With the power of hindsight, I think Bucky being the one who was recovered and joined the Avengers from the get-go would've actually made for a much better story.>Steve dies sacrificing himself, thus ensuring that he's immortalized and turned into this idealised and incorruptible form>Bucky is abducted by HYDRA, the Soviets, etc, and turns into the Winter Soldier>Fury, having formed SHIELD, retrieves him at some point and deprogrammes him>Bucky runs missions for Fury, the two of them being the last of their generation>by the time the Avengers form he steps up, with age and wisdom, to reign them in>has the built-in guilt of all he's done while brainwashed, and the blood he's got on his hands due to the things he did willingly in the dark to keep the world running>struggles to live up to the sanitised 40s ideal of Steve while having to live in the modern worldFor my money, that's a much more interesting character that actually works within the role of "Captain America" in the Marvel Universe as is.
Nobody?
>>152587164You're wrong.
Bringing back Bucky was a blunder.

There are literally decades of comics that you can read that completely shred the absolute fuck out of this non-argument. Maybe actually read comics instead of basing your opinions on adaptations and YouTube lore shorts.

>>152585852He should be Marvel's Kamen Rider. He will work with Shield here and there but mainly do things alone.
