It was my main place to hang out online back in the day. Social media sites were just becoming a thing so all the cool creative types were still concentrated here. It was highly possible to get a nice and verbose response to our comment from somebody you admired. Everybody was doing trades and jumping on bandwagons. And I never even found the place's fetishy reputation that noticeable. I guess I just curated my feed and rarely searched for stuff as opposed to playing a game of six degrees with the favourites of peeps I followed. Not saying it was some rose-tinted wonderland we all lost forever, I just found it comforting to log in to the old theme design.

Looking back at deviantART, is probably one of the saddest things at one time it actually did have a thriving community of people who wanted to get better at drawing. Now you can't even upload the system is so bad it just even getting a picture on there it used to me you could just go click click click and boom now it's all these little buttons and stupid stuff. AI was brought in, in my opinion mainly because there are already losing so many people that they wanted to fake the numbers. So slop AI kind of creates the illusion that they're actually people on there. Even the cringe compilation people have moved on it's really just a forgotten really. People now blame AI but it was going down before AI a lot of it just refusing to make everything easy to upload or deal with anything. It's a defunct platform the only people on there are basically people who buy and sell AI art to each other and fake having an economy. You used to go and see a picture and it would have hundreds of comments now you know you look at these pictures and there's maybe one comment and you're telling me they have over 100k views. It's pretty obvious deviantART is pretty faking everything.

I mainly stick around on here even if some /pol/tards will try to ruin it for everyone else because it's one of the few relics that hasn't really changed that much, and especially as a bong it's rapidly becoming the only place that doesn't demand all my personal information just to look at it.Every other website has just got worse and worse as the years go on with increasingly unnecessary changes that seem to do nothing but break what never needed fixing for a feature nobody was asking for. There's no time for fun because everyone everywhere is offended by everything all at once. People will blame social media, but even they were fine at first and served their initial functions perfectly ok - Facebook for keeping in touch with friends and family when you move away for college/university/work, Twitter for a newsfeed of what is happening in the moment, Youtube to share funny home videos with friends, and Instagram to do the same but with photos. What actually killed the internet was it being widely available on peoples phones wherever they are in the world, drastically lowering the barrier of entry. This caused a flood of normies with no sense of internet "culture" or etiquite all showing up at once, which then evolved into the influencer race to the bottom, a mob mentality of rage, and corporations & political parties happy to throw money at everything to ruin every thing they touch with endless bullshit. And whenever you think it can't get worse, some new dumb money wasting bullshit like AI polluting even the most basic image searches with garbage shows up. Add in people fanning flames to get tribal politics riled up for extra headaches.But like I say, at least this place exists so I can still read in peace and have unfiltered chat about media.

I can't say I do. Before I came here most of my time was spent on Deviant Art/YouTube, but I never really felt like it had a community. I just followed artists I liked and posted my own projects that never got any traffic. I guess maybe I miss it in the sense of productivity? Modern social media has sucked that completely away. But it was just as embarrassing and cringe in 2005 as it is now. Only difference is all the furry content
