Not because I’m one of those fags who hates serialization, it’s just really lazy and destroys Rick as a character. I liked it better when the implication was that he became more cynical over time due to sensitization from constant reality hopping, not because muh wife died. So now we have to pretend to care about the non-character that is Diane and also Rick Prime who was only introduced as a villain for 1 season and then killed off. Yeah I get the point is that it was anti-climactic but being subversive doesn’t automatically make it good writing. I don’t give a shit about Evil Morty either, I liked him at first but his storyline should’ve ended at the Season 5 finale when he finally freed himself from the central finite curve, they didn’t need to bring him back in Season 7. But I guess they know lore autists and incest fan artists are pretty much the show’s only remaining audience.
Seasons 3 and 4 had some good episodes. Summer is an insufferable cunt post season 2 and anytime she's on the screen after then sucks. But to be fair she wasn't overused, unlike space beth who ruined the show. Season 8 straight up had maybe 1 or 2 unfunny jokes per episode, genuinely bad season.

That was maybe the last time a cartoon was really front and center in the public consciousness without any culture war shit being attatched to it. Compare that to KPDH or Smiling Friends. They "went viral" and "blew up" but they just kind of hooked people's attention, the same enthusiasm was not there.
