So how does he know how much of an ingredient to put into a dish? Just being able to smell vanilla or lemon or whatever just tells him that they're part of the recipe, it wouldn't tell him the quantities.

I was surprised a story with such an absurd premise could captivate the masses. Like is it some avant garde rendition of Cyrano de Bergerac with ghost cooking instead of ghost writing, and where ghost cooking entails controlling someone by pulling on their hair?
