Why do companies have to be retarded and swallow poison pills? Like AI has become a massive sticking point for a lot of people yet they still keep shooting themselves in the foot and now lost their show runner over it.Seems Indie or Die is the mantra of today. God, this sucks.

You hated the select parts of society and then changed and then changed again because they made a few commercials and a few talking heads say so. They told you to hate AI, that was a mistake, because it interfered with their idea of making no body animators into celebrities so you can buy more toys. >>152713137That's what I don't getThere's so many fields where people were more than willing to tolerate and accept AI for a lot of valid reasonsA lot of infrastructure and engineering areas, a lot of medical areas, even a FEW places in the arts that weren't direct generationInstead, the corpos and AI bros decided "You know who will love this stuff? The most histrionic, DIY, moralfagging, often precariously employed and ideals over reals demographic on Earth: creatives!"And despite there literally being people actively throwing away their entire careers and half the internet screaming in rage about it, they're aggressively doubling down on selling AI to creativesThe creatives who want to use it are already using it, and they have to go incognito about itYou just wonder why the companies aren't taking the hint that this is NOT how they should have deployed AI first if they wanted people to love it and if this isn't even about profitabilityThere's a part of me that wonders if this is the other side of the "money isn't important, changing behaviors is" of ESGLefties were all for ESG in the 2010s when it was all about DEI in media, and even when it wasn't profitable or actively hated they simply wouldn't stop. >>152715996Im sure those Koreans will find jobs. Sadly, the power sucking AIs are data center training, ie when you type a question into the internet the LLM giving you the summary is what it was for, not ever the act of it responding to your question, just birthing it and making it coherent. After that its eating less than a mid budget PC game. The truth is that artists will adapt because AImis just a tool. They'll learn to integrate it into their project pipelines and wonder how they ever did without it. Every professional will see an amazing tool in their lifetime and will adjust to use it, that is what so much training in these schools is for.To indulge in a what aboutism, look at the current industry: The path to success is joining a mega corporation and snaking your way to actually being able to lead a project, which means convincing execs that its worth the investment, or going indie and begging on public funding sites that your project is worth it and maybe a streaming site like Netflix might pick you up if its miraculously successful. None of this reflects the artist's integrity or skill, its all being a business man. Using AI you could do a project with all the producers and multinational teams to bring it to life.As another example, cartoons are not worth it currently. Every cartoon you liked that got cancelled was because the merchandise didn't make enough because making cartoons without a tie in cross market synergy wastes money no matter how cheap you make it. It has to either get cheaper and employ less if future artists want to produce with any creative freedom.

>>152716248Actually you might be pleased ro know there is a technique called inpainting which processes and contexualizes images loaded into it. The sloppers use digital image drawing, such as they are, to try and get close to what they want and then the AI springboard off that. The more detail you can accurately provide the less work the model has to do it. This is also called 'blobbing' in the slopper community for obvious reasons. This technique is necessary for important details or genning specific characters. What you are describing is slapping a description into grok or other LLM online interface and hoping for the best. when an indie animation hasn't started production yet, is it possible to license it instead of selling it, or do nearly all companies want to buy the property before they fund its production?

>>152715251That's the sad part anon frenAI is still shitAnd yet I'm watching Chickn Nuggit and not even knowing if it's worse than AIIt's pure brainrot slopAI I guess would be worse but we're seriously at this point where I'm questioning itEven 5 fucking years ago there was still SOME valid shit out thereNo one would be enamored by AI slop if the bar of quality you were going up against was even beanmouth slop like Steven Universe or Adventure Time, let alone the really good cartoonsI don't even know anymore man, I'm almost ready to say "Let AI flood it and then nuke it so we can start the cartooning field over"Man I wish we had 80s seinen anime OVAs and 90s creator-driven American cartoons again at the same time, then I'd really be pissed
>>152715996Funny shit is, that's mostly just limited to America. China's own AI industry somehow threaded the needle because their grid is still growing and they have way better water systems, and the main things they're stealing from is American AI outputs, so the chinks actually really support AI
>>152712874Respectful
>>152719803Yeah man, that's what I've been researching too. America's released and used AI in probably the single shittiest most disrespectful way it could possibly have been, against the one demographic that should've have been replaced or seriously affected by it. China's not much better at things but at the very least they aren't making AI slop the sole focus of everything "AI" related and are still boosting their energy capacity to be able to handle it. We're doing everything wrong and think we're winning.
>>152713137i don't know how to break this to you but you exist in a bubble and no normalfag gives a fuck about ai. they generally like it because it answers questions for them faster than google searches. it makes life easier and more convenient. they don't care.basically what i'm saying is you lost and got raped
>>152719825A lot of normalfags actually do care, but not about AI slop. Where I live, some AI data centers RAPED our electricity bills, and Trump fucked up renewable energy investments so people are ducking getting solar farms built until they're sure he's not going randomly ban the concept of the sunAnd a bunch of gamers are angry at the GPU crisis.I get that it's mostly the terminally online Plebbit/ResetEra/Xitter artist who cares about AI slop more than anything but there's more to the whole issue than just that. That's why others were glazing China earlier because they're still rapidly pushing up electrical capacity
I think the union movement REALLY pissed off the showbiz boomer jews so they poured money into ai development just to spite their workforce.
>>152719882the union movement also pissed off anyone trying to get into the industry by forcing them to pay exorbitant gatekeeping fees and turning everything into an even bigger nepotism hell. they all deserve to lose.
When is Disney going to replace Alex Hirsch with an Alex Hirsch robot who'll make more gravity falls? I was told we'd have skinwalker bots 100 years ago
>>152719882AI fag here (not AI bro I mean deep end lab)That's not it at allIt's not that anyone was trying to take down artists. That was purely incidental. The tech research came first, then the greed followed. We all knew since the 90s that if you had really good differentiable programming, you'd start seeing "synthetic media" emerge. It wasn't even necessarily an impending sign of Artificial General Intelligence. People say "AI algorithms haven't changed since the 90s." Well, actually we knew since the 90s that the algorithms we had were actually mostly sufficient to do what we wanted AI to do since the 60s. We just didn't have the computing power to really do it. Moore's law gives you more transistors but Dennard scaling made them useful. As an average during the 90's clock speeds increased by 50% per year and IPC by 10% per year. If that had continued we would be using 1500 GHz single core CPUs now. 2003 is when it became apparent that Dennard scaling was starting to seriously break down. It's a sobering reminder that pentium mmx 233 MHz to athlon 64 2 GHz was 5 years. That's why everything feels so compressed around then. If computing power kept increasing at that rate, we'd straight up have AGI-level stuff right now. Generative AI is about the most bare possible iteration of that level of AI we can do, and it needs either way better architecture (neurosymbolic) or way more power (terawatts) to get a lot more juice out of it, none of which the American labs are pivoting towards. We could have had generative AI in the late 2000s and early 2010s actually but no one thought to apply these methods at the time, and consumer hardware wasn't strong enough, and since major labs didn't have much interest in it even when deep learning took off, nothing really came of it.
>>152719989....The labs realized in the late 2010s that the decades old algorithms were finally working with current hardware (inefficiently) and made a big hoopla that we could scale them up rapidly and make up for the decade of lost time. Then you saw some early LLMs that could do a lot of different things under one hood, like DeepMind's Gato and GPT 3, and that kicked off techbro ideological hype that we finally found the secret to AGI that fed into investor hype when ChatGPT launched and became a huge successIn recent days, the not retarded finally realized "this isn't getting us to AGI" but the capitalist hype machine is too drunk on what little LLMs and diffusion can do, and the whole ecosystem of investor capitalism keeps it running like Ork magic. The crazy thing is, actual research is still going on and has gotten a windfall from the crazed investor hype bubble, so even when the AI bubble bursts, you'll still probably hear about really good next-gen AI systems built off much different architecture not even 5 years later.
>“I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:>1. Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.>2. Anything that's invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.>3. Emotional intelligence because of a gypsy jew's cancer cells mutating badly inside him through inbreeding and sun radiation do not allow him to think rationally in a literal cool manner. They will always behave like creatures suffering from sun stroke and cancer cause that's literally what they are, no metaphor, no analogy, they're straight up cancer cells, they have tumors in their brains, parasites in their brains. That's why the irrational behaviour that makes your pet animal look sane by comparison, even insects(asians) are saner by comparison.I find it impressive how "humanity" hires these idiot geniuses who have all the knowledge in the world but their tastes are 0 and they get selected/pigeon holed by specific groups to say yes to certain things. The absolute problem with Markov chains is that it is doing blind guessing work "just like" a parrot, if said parrot had no survival instincts, hunger or instincts of any kind. The Chinese Box is indeed real.No matter how much computing power you throw at a parrot who learns robotically, it will always be a pig/parrot. That's why the robot is ironically so dogshit at math, unlike a calculator. When you realize this blind guesser doesn't even know what a letter and a digit is then that's when it really clicks that markov chains by themselves are a complete dead-end. An autosuggest does not have logical thinking ability and it's good for fooling the sub 101 IQs Please take notice how the AI isn't using human tools to create content ... not because it doesn't need to, but because it is just that incompetent that it can't recognize basic inputs and basic software, something you'd expect a script to be able to do.If you went to an actual school then you probably heard your teacher: "Never learn robotically, like a parrot".

I didn't know what to make of this show when i first watched itI thought it was a childish show for adults given a lot of the more suggestive themes, but the further it went on it realized it wasn't and was more of an inappropriate show for childrenespecially when you bundle in its references to things like gender identity and sexuality, it came off as an attempt to groom kids into lgbt lifestyles

>>152712874I will give a purely pragmatic standpoint here, if AI is capable of replacing some jobs in a cost saving way, then it will be here to stay werever people like it or not. No amunt of protest, or grand gesture will do anything, pic related was the AI of its time, sewing used to be a professional skill that people could live out of, when they introduced a machine that could do their job faster even if shittier it was over for them, and in those time they would even burn the workshops that used sewing machines to the ground and even then the technology stuck.Same for photography killing the jobs of painters, or pre recorded music destroying the live bands, or when video killed the radio star. This people should better try to get the most of a shitty situation that demanding in vain to get things vack how they used to.

Something about that company reeks of the same bullshit vibe I get from Fandom and similar companies. And to be honest, I'm surprised Buzzfeed is still around and that it was involved in Chikn Nuggit's production. As for Kyra, this is literally the first time I've heard of her. And while I have heard of Chikn Nuggit before, but I never watched it.On the other hand, me not being familiar with Kyra and Chikn Nuggit is no reason to dismiss her problems with Buzzfeed and AI. I had a hunch that company was scummy, but it wanting to feed Kyra's Chikn Nuggit characters to AI just confirms my suspicions. This whole situation serves a grim reminder that partnering with a company to produce your content can be a double-edged sword. It's also yet another example of execs using the latest tech and trends as cost-efficient gimmicks that hurt western animation and animators in the long run (2D puppet rigs, storyboarding in recent shows, beanmouth with thin outlines).
