None of this reflects the artist's integrity or skill, its all being a business man. Using AI you could do a project with all the producers and multinational teams to bring it to life.

As another example, cartoons are not worth it currently. Every cartoon you liked that got cancelled was because the merchandise didn't make enough because making cartoons without a tie in cross market synergy wastes money no matter how cheap you make it. It has to either get cheaper and employ less if future artists want to produce with any creative freedom.

We all knew since the 90s that if you had really good differentiable programming, you'd start seeing "synthetic media" emerge. It wasn't even necessarily an impending sign of Artificial General Intelligence. People say "AI algorithms haven't changed since the 90s." Well, actually we knew since the 90s that the algorithms we had were actually mostly sufficient to do what we wanted AI to do since the 60s. We just didn't have the computing power to really do it. Moore's law gives you more transistors but Dennard scaling made them useful. As an average during the 90's clock speeds increased by 50% per year and IPC by 10% per year. If that had continued we would be using 1500 GHz single core CPUs now. 2003 is when it became apparent that Dennard scaling was starting to seriously break down. It's a sobering reminder that pentium mmx 233 MHz to athlon 64 2 GHz was 5 years. That's why everything feels so compressed around then. If computing power kept increasing at that rate, we'd straight up have AGI-level stuff right now. Generative AI is about the most bare possible iteration of that level of AI we can do, and it needs either way better architecture (neurosymbolic) or way more power (terawatts) to get a lot more juice out of it, none of which the American labs are pivoting towards.
We could have had generative AI in the late 2000s and early 2010s actually but no one thought to apply these methods at the time, and consumer hardware wasn't strong enough, and since major labs didn't have much interest in it even when deep learning took off, nothing really came of it.
