Voltron had a similar issue to Legend of Korra where too much time was spent with the cast feeling cold or lukewarm at best about each other besides maybe Pidge and Hunk and Keith and Shiro. They'd talk plot stuff and go do plot things because the story needs it, but other than that? Big fat MEH.There's been past action series or shounen manga that plot-wise failed in logic somewhere but still remembered to show warmer and good things between the main cast, or obviously tried a lot harder with character dynamics to save itself

Their "stories" are sometimes quite light and padded until the endgame and then there's resolution to the conflict. They're members of the Galaxy Alliance, so it's only reasonable to assume they're military age. Plus, literally no source exists online that says they're around the same age range as Pidge and Allura.
