Post early designs of characters
>>152774132Dawn from what?
>>152774132are we supposed to know what this is
I sometimes forget that some of these late-2000s concept art have that hipster tinge to them.
>>152774132
>>152774132I always like this design better than final Lola.
>>152774132>Early into production, Bluth and Goldman began researching the actual events by enlisting former CIA agents stationed in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Around this same time, screenwriter Eric Tuchman had written a script. Eventually, Bluth and Goldman decided the history of Anastasia and the Romanov dynasty was too dark for their film. In 1995, Bruce Graham and Susan Gauthier reworked Tuchman's script into a light-hearted romantic comedy. When Graham and Gauthier moved onto other projects, the husband-and-wife screenwriting team Bob Tzudiker and Noni White were hired for additional rewrites. Actress Carrie Fisher also made uncredited rewrites of the film, particularly the scene in which Anya leaves the orphanage for Paris.>For the villains, Bluth also did not take into consideration depicting Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks, and initially toyed with the idea of a police chief with a vendetta against Anastasia. Instead, they decided to have Grigori Rasputin as the villain with Goldman explaining it was because of "all the different things they did to try to destroy Rasputin and what a horrible man he really was, the more it seemed appetizing to make him the villain". In reality, Rasputin was already dead when the Romanovs were assassinated. In addition to this, Bluth created the idea for Bartok, the albino bat, as a sidekick for Rasputin: "I just thought the villain had to have a comic sidekick, just to let everyone know that it was all right to laugh. A bat seemed a natural friend for Rasputin. Making him a white bat came later – just to make him different". Composers Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens recalled being at Au Bon Pain in New York City where Rasputin and Bartok were pitched, and being dismayed at the decision to go down a historically inaccurate route; they made their stage musical adaption "more sophisticated, more far-reaching, more political" to encompass their original vision.
>>152774132This feels better animated than the movie. >>152774180>>152774302The Croods: A New age
>>152774180>>152774302It's a character design from the second Croods movie. OP is her original design and this is the one used in the final film. Personally I liked the beta design better
>>152775020She was out in the sun for too long.
>>152774947It took them that long to realize the comunist revolution wasn't kid movie material?
>>152775020hmmm that lip bite
Early designs for Rapunzel and Eugene from Tangled. Rapunzel's design was pretty much the same the whole way, but Eugene looks much different. Common fan theory is that this design was later used for Kristoff
>>152775020We were robbed, Holy fwark.
>>152775067Damn, he was an absolute unit
She wears it only at the beginning of the revival so it counts.
>>152775067Poast the other Euegene...
Pacha
Penny with ontisuka tiger sneaks
Imagine all the furry porn we could have had.Savino knew what he was doing.
The character that would eventually become Evelyn and swap roles with Nelson Deavor, now he-lectrix.
>>152775993is there a hint of Samuel L Jackson in this concept? kinda see it from any of his antagonist roles on other films
>>152776048There honestly could be, tends to happen when a studio is eyeing a certain actor as a VA. The person who posted it has said nothing about it however, it's simply a collection of images in their portfolio.https://armandbaltazar.com/works/the-frog-princess/
>>152774853smaller eyes, wider mouth and lipstick. Not huge changes honestly. Looks good though.
>>152775067It's not a horrible design but it really highlights the age gap in a way that doesn't work for a family film
>>152775732I'd polk her hot tits
I wonder who this could be based off of....
>>152774132Not believable, cave girls wouldn't be as mean as modern girls
Megamind
John Smith from Pocahontas
>>152776800
>>152775629So this was a time travel plot?
>>152777076No it was basically like enchanted but with two teenagers from New York who get transported into the story of Rapunzel and swap places with her and the prince. Rapunzel turns into a squirrel while the prince a basset hound.
>>152775778They changed it cause the sneakers are copyrighted or something?
>>152775067His name was Bastion a soft-hearted gentle giant. His personality was reworked as it was too similar to Rapunzell's.
>>152775609The ponytail was good, should've kept that.
>>152774132>when the writer is denied his barely disguised fetish
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=164bHrlToMk
>>152778120no, his personality wasn't anywhere near rapunzel.originally, rapunzel was like a feral girl who had zero social skills and bastion was a cruel, ruthless brigand. He brought her out of her shell, she taught him that he can be nice and gentle/to appreciate beauty, and they saved each other. They replaced him with flynn, who had no personality at all besides just being a snarky guy and made rapunzel a quirky-cute joss wedon stereotype....before even this, though, Rapunzel was about a bickering millenial couple whose relationship was on the rocks, before both being transported into a fairy tale story and the only way to escape was to "complete" the story by falling in love again. The love interest was Jack Black, which, if you've talked to any bitch at all in the last several decades, is still considered fuckable
>>152777117>>152775629oh someone's already posted it.well I'll post more, fuck it, it would've been a better movie
>>152776491every new movie pixar makes it gets closer and closer to those hideous tumblr redesigns of iron man and captain america
>>152778349>those hideous tumblr redesigns of iron man and captain americaYou're thinking of rcdart kek also>closer and closerIt's already there, Win or Lose came out. The thing with Elio is you can tell they were trying to mess around with a few different styles initially before settling on a more bean mouth-like one for some reason, there are some sculpts and 3d sketches exploring that. I actually think that style must've been studio mandated or something for personal films. The concept art for the one posted earlier looks more charming in 2d though, I guess it didn't translate well to 3d.
>>152776806looks like gay porn
>>152775750I wonder if Kuzco was already designed at this point. I would bet this design is from when it more closely resembled the Emperor's new clothes fable
>>152779083>I would bet this design is from when it more closely resembled the Emperor's new clothes fableI think so, picrel was also Pacha. He was leading a herd of llamas through Machu Picchu here.
>>152775020The redesign changed her from a main rival character to a background extra
>>152780162The plot was completely different too, at one point they wanted a more Flintstones like nuclear caveman family to contrast against the Croods.
>>152774947Should have stuck with the original idea. I've seen the stage musical and it's a VAST improvement.
>>152775020Kelly Marie Tran- glad her push has ended. Even as a voice actor she flops. Why can't Hollywood promote actually pretty Asian actresses?
>>152774947>Instead, they decided to have Grigori Rasputin as the villain with Goldman explaining it was because of "all the different things they did to try to destroy Rasputin and what a horrible man he really was, the more it seemed appetizing to make him the villain"So retarded. Rasputin was the Romanov's closest allie and cured Alexei's hemophilia. Lenin and the Bolsheviks should have been the bad guys. Rasputin should have been a wise old crazy sage who helped Anastasia and Dmitri, replacing the Kelsey Grammar character.
>>152780448>There's a version of Anastasia where Anastasia comes across Rasputin in the woods and he's a withered old Nicodemus-type character who helps her on her journey.
>>152780480That's how it should be. It makes no sense to make the guy who loved Christianity and the Romanovs and hated godless Bolsheviks the big bad guy of the story. It should have been Lenin's secret police.
>>152778184>Others change dramatically>mouse remains the sameThey knew their priorities.
>>152779083I believe Kuzco at that point would've looked identical to Pacha's design. The original story was more like The Prince and the Pauper. Pacha the llama herder and Manco the emperor (Kuzco's original name) swap places, and then Manco gets turned into a llama, and something like that.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaHh-FgDeYE
>>152776672Incredibles would have been so much better 2D.
>>152774132>>152775020The fucking robbery.

>>152781530Would it have been? I really liked how the upa esque designs translated to 3d even if it was a bit rough due to the limitations.
>>152774947While I wish we had the other version, I feel that Rasputin, as depicted in both series, are fantastic. I still sing Dark of the Night when I'm out for karaoke.
>>152775552>>152775609Reminds me of Hawkins from Treasure Planet, and the Prince from the Prince of Persia.
>>152782168Yeah he kinda does, his outfit is very ornate here so I can see why. You can see his face better in this one, less Jim Hawkins like.
>>152774132>bratty goth cavegirlmeh, I like the final character better
>>152782318>goth>that...
>>152775020The Great Downgrade.
>>152778339I feel like almost anything Jack Black is involved in works out only for Jack Black.
Asmodeus from Helluva Boss was originally (or a at one point) was going to look like and be like The Mayor from The Nightmare Before Christmas with a head that spins round reflecting his moods.
Obligatory
Denzel Crocker from FOP.It's also unknown if that female design is supposed to be another version of Crocker or a separate character who is his daughter.
>>152782112Seeing these 2d designs made me realize how bad the old boom comics looked
>>152782991Kind of reminds me of Roger Delgado as the Master from Doctor Who
>>152776800That's just Frank Grimes lol
>>152783820Glad ya like em, I recommend the artbook of you'd like to see more it's full of good stuff. It's avaliable on internet archive.>>152784175KEK
This is an early Flik design
>>152785178>>152785187>>152785194>>152785166Again why is this style more charming in 2d than 3d? Is it the realistic textures?>>152785217Glad they got rid of the hair
>>152782844Quintesson-looking ass
>>152774132Why is the suprised and slightly insulted way she looks at me ao raw and hot?
>>152786097She's not looking at you, don't have such an ego.
>>152785149Why did elastigirl less confident?
>>152786421I will not be spoken to like that by a tripfag
bump
>>152774947Rasputin has just become the go to Russian figure for a villain all because he was notoriously ugly.
>>152789630Then post something..
>>152788272I'm only telling you that because i care.
>>152774132Was this version too hot for the crowds? Also theu have to have fun with them if they can controll them
>>152785149>>152782112Yeah I vastly prefer this 2D
Why so Early with your Designs?
>>152790484>Also theu have to have fun with them if they can controll themWhat?
>>152774132>some people actually find it hard to keep making eye contact and cant watch this or look away from her even though shes on a screen and CGI
>>152792151Esl babble
>>152778182>Grime/Sasha was real at one pointMAN
>>152785217blitzo...
>>152785166>>152785178>>152785187>>152785194Imagine the Loli porn or even Ai Generated porn and fetish art (like this one https://files.catbox.moe/jxcsww.jpg ) of these designs of Mei Lee?Also what I've just said probably applies to most early designs of characters even if that should've be been done to them years ago.
>>152787780I thought this was an old lady from the thumbnail.
>>152792760Imagine being so degenerate you resort to AI.
>>152793212>>152793247It's literally the same except bigger nose.Honestly i like the big nose.
>>152794824Anime is so nosephobic
>>152789882wtf, what kind of movie was it originally supposed to be?
>>152796621A few different things, you can actually find a lot. A bit surprising for a Disney movie.
>>152789882okay...this is Batmannow what movie was that you post? Rapunzel?
>>152775732That's actually not an early design. It's part of a joke video made by Disney staff.
This design with the current voice would've been the best of both worlds
