Would you just focus on normal troop characters like >Easy Company>The Losers>Hunter’s Hellcats >The Suicide Squadron (they’re normal people not Taskforce X)Or would you focus on some of the Golden Age Super Hero’s in>All Star Squadron >JSA>Seven Soldiers of Victory
>>152782977DC kind of evolved into 3 tiers of WW2 storiesGrounded: Sgt. Rock, Haunted Tank, Losers, basically all that GI Combat stuff.Elevated: Blackhawk, Taskforce X, Dinosaur Island, Unknown Soldier Mystery Men/Superheros: JSA/All Star I've always been interested in all three sandboxes but I have a soft spot for the Unknown Soldier
>>152783155Do you think there is a way to combine them together cohesively or are they best kinda being in their own bubbles?
>>152783155>Grounded>haunted tankthe one were a tank is possessed by a Confederate general?
>>152783234Yeah, that’s grounded, happens all the time J.E.B. Stuart is a goat
>>152783234All the ghost did would show up at the beginning and give the tank commander some fortune cookie wisdom, disappear and the rest of the story would play out pretty straightforward without any occult elemnts. Even the commander's own tank crew though he was crazy talking to an unseen ghost. I know Ennis brought it back in his 90's Demon series and there was a Vertigo series in the 00's so I can't attest for them.
>>152782977I wouldn't do a WW2 series! That era has been exhausted. I'd have a general war comic. WW1, Vietnam, ancient Roman battles, just war across the ages.
>>152782977Yes.
>>152783204Separate but equal. It could work as an event mini series but I have no faith in modern talent to pull it off without obnoxious presentism. Ennis being a big war-nerd would just have a bunch of mystery men gunned down for wearing circus costumes in combat. Roy Thomas had his chance but he just wasn't good. The best DC WW2 integration weirdly enough was the old Mayfair RPG supplement. All mystery men and soldier characters are covered and the entries have intelligence briefings written by Captain Nazi about their capabilities.
>>152783592Oh that’s really cool, I didn’t even know Mayfair had a line. I’m going to try to check this out
>>152782977Do more shit like this.
>>152783155Grounded assisting Elevated is best, with superheroes dressed in military gear.
>>152784224That is mentioned in this >>152783592, in his notes Captain Nazi wonders why they don't just take all the non-powered mystery men and give them uniforms and rifles. What he doesn't know is that a lot of the JSA did join the armed services under their civilian names (which gave Roy Thomas a reason not to use them in All Star).
>>152782977>>152783455>>152783155I wouldn't do any of this. I would bring back Human Defense Corps and do all kinds of war/covert ops stories in space. I doesn't make a lick of sense that a species as rapacious and warlike as ours isn't out there Great Crusading across the galaxy in search of land, resources and hot alien wimminz. Especially considering how many times earth itself has been invaded, both from local ayys and cross-dimensionally.
>>152785602>Great Crusading across the galaxy in search of land, resources based>and hot alien wimminzPREPARE TO BE PURGED
>>152785602This is sick in a cool way and I can’t believe I haven’t heard about this before now
>>152786220If the Lord Commander can get it, then so can I.
>>152786292It's most definitely worth a read: https://getcomics.org/?s=human+defense+corps
>>152785602>written by Ty Templeton
>>152786547What's wrong with Ty Templeton?
>>152787017I do convention work. We had him as a guest and he was an arrogant asshole.
>>152782977I would like it to sell but unless it’s a mini with a particularly popular creative team, it won’t
>>152787227Should have reminded him that he's just a capeshit artist and writer.
>>152782977Boy Commandos
>>152783155Where do the Creature Commandos fall?>>152783455Weird War Tales was all over the place.
>>152790033nta but I would put them in mystery men
>>152786297Why does that elf have a tail?
>>152790033Weird War was a solid run. I also liked Blitzkrieg but I understand why they cut it short
>>152785602i genuinely hate how much DC sits on cool shit like this, it just makes so much sense for humans in Superhero universes to actually ADAPT to fighting alien invasions and other supernatural shit on a wider scale.By the way this series ends with the United States conquering a portion of hell and possibly establishing an embassy in it.
>>152783592>>152783155I agree, seperating them would be the best option, but at the same time i wouldn't mind a sort of "Weird War 2" (Weird War tales probably) anthology style series where the perspectives switch. It'd be cool to see what a normal infantryman would feel seeing a fucking Warwheel getting taken out by Green Lantern or something. I think it would do good especially with the ever growing "Weird War genre" taking off again recentlt with shit like Wolfenstein, Iron Harvest, Konflikt'47, etc.
>>152791642dunno
>>152787227What did he do or say?
>>152782977Superman stops the war.
>>152782977I like how they wrote out super hero involvement
