Should cartoons feature at least one timeskip to change up the formula?
they all do, they skip a couple days most of the times
Lohan was a good fit for an older Maggie and I wouldn't mind her in the role permanently.Simpsons should have done a soft reboot ten years ago to make all the characters a little older.
For the Simpsons? Yes. THoH, Anthology, and different time setting episodes are usually decent at least and a good break in the formula. Alternate each year with a future episode and a past episode.
>>152792032>>152792256what for? so they could for the 2959299494th time make Bart a underachiever loser and Lisa a successful know-it-all arrogant bitch?
>>152792032bart and lisa's extra details makes them out of place
>>152792032Does lisa have a huge rack or is it just the sweater?
>>152792032Unironically The Simpsons should have been aged up by now
>>152792256I agree with this anon.
>>152792411It's both
>>152792032The simpsons really should have had a timeskip decades ago
>>152792290They don't need to change anything, it just makes stories like "Bart runs off to Utah to marry some girl" less absurd.Make Bart 14, dealing with entering high school.Make Lisa 12, she's in middle school. This leaves Maggie at Kindergarten or 1st grade to do Springfield Elementary jokes.
>>152792032Depends on the cartoon's plot.
>>152792256Yeah. if the "make them age" was the right call it was a ship that sailed long ago.It really would have been too. Everyone gets a little older and suddenly the original season 1-5 formula is reusable. You get to revisit every character individually and in their special groupings. Finish that off, age another notch, go through the cycle again. Instead of increasingly zanier plots.
>>152792032Only if that future allows the characters to change in ways they didn't already imagine in the present. The point of timeskips is not to manifest childhood ideals
>>152792769the family sitcomLive action has this solution built in. All the actors are ageing, they have no choice.
>>152792686This episode was honestly a solid proof-of-concept that it could work.
>>152792032>Lisa hits the wall as a teenGrim
Watched this episode. I liked fine and it was a good shake up but they need to add more depth to the characters, the entire episode was about how aggressive and annoying they become that would be hard to swole as an entire series.Still, I liked how chill bart was about the whole thing and lisa, despite being changed in to an annoying over hormonal teenager still much more tolerable than her normal preachy self.
>>152792032I cant deal with the voices in current simpsons. Maybe if they timeskipped and replaced them all
>>152794563>the entire episode was about how aggressive and annoying they become that would be hard to swole as an entire series.Obviously they wouldn't be like this all the time. (Well, Homer and Marge wouldn't, at least.) It'd just be one of those one-episode attitude changes.
A few cartoons I grew up with did exactly this but they were animated soap operas with overarching plots through hundreds of episodes, not episodic comedies.
The last season should be a timeskip far ahead enough that it's like the other sitcom revivals.
>>152792032Maggie a cutehttps://youtu.be/wB6QQNgNrxc?si=BA26yIabnITKZpe5
Lisa being taller than Bart is erotic.
>>152794813Her tits are already as big as Marge’s.
>>152792032I honestly feel the only way to break Simpsons out of zombie status is to do a permanent timeskip of them as adults. But don't fall into the trap of making Lisa successful and Bart a loser. Give them all aspirational but modest careers still working in Springfield.Bart is now a school teacher, who has a photo of Krababel on his desk. Is the cool teacher who teaches kids life lessons, but is now working for Principal Skinner who busts his balls.Lisa has a desk job working at City Hall, and is ignored by her peers and gets her ideas stolen all the time.Moe put Homer in charge of the bar while he is hiding out in Shelbyville.Maggie is the new voice of reason calling out everyone's crap, but is even more rude than Bart. A mix of Bart and Lisa in one.Grandpa is still alive, and so is Mr Burns.
>>152794813>If you're a good "big" brother I'll let you pop my zits
>>152794876Stands to reason they'll be MASSIVE as an adult.
>>152792032Better to just end it
>>152795380
>>152792032No, cartoons should get cancelled so they can make other fucking cartoons.

>>152792032What episode is this?
>>152798116Parahormonal Activity. The most recent flash-forward episode.
Wait if Bart is 16 and Lisa 15 in this episode, shouldn't Bart already be taller than Lisa? Or at least the same height?
>>152798528I think she is 12 and bart 13 in this. Girls mature first so it makes sense for her to be taller. not so much taller, tho. I think they done this way to make more apparent to the viewer.
>>152798545But bart can drive?
Was this the "incel" episode?
It didn't really work out when they did Rugrats All Grown Up
Bart and Lisa being 10 and 8 really don’t work with how they write them. They both get written as 14 year olds
>>152798528That's not how it always works. It's retarded to think that's a hard and fast rule.
>>152798528>>152798545Bart is 15 and Lisa is 13.
>>152798946The special was fine but making an entire show about it was bad. It didn't translate well and had an entirely different tone. Making everyone in Springfield 4-5 years older doesn't change much.
>>152799308What does that have to do with anything? It’s not uncommon, so it’s not surprising here. That’s not the same as claiming that it’s a hard and fast rule.
>>152794813They’ve definitely both masturbated at the same time in their bedrooms, with only a thin wall separating them.
>>152792032they should skip to the very end and never produce another episode

>>152798528>>152798545>thinking Bart and Lisa are only one year apart
>>152794924I would watch that. Anything is better than the typical loser Bart, winner Lisa formula that>>152792290MentionedId rather see something more grounded and relatable not another rehash of the same thing we've seen before.
