>Has licensing deals with Amazon and Netflix
>Has Dana Terrace working on a show
>Chris Sabet is voicing a character on another show
They're not on the same levels as Disney or Warner Bros, but calling them Indie feels wrong.

It's called selling out

Indie means independent not obscure you dumb fuck

>anons are still throwing a crying tantrum over glitch's success
>>

I don't know, are they?
>>
>>152793778
OP here. I could care less if they're successful. They're not making anything that really peaks my interest other than the Gaslight District.
>>
>>152793604
The moment they can get out more than like 3 episodes a year is when they are no longer small potatoes. Or they make a feature film. One of the two.
>>
No money? Bohemian. $20? Indie. $40? Freelancer. About $50? Capitalist.

>no more SMG4

That shit hasn't been funny in years. It should've stop a long time ago.

They aren't under the union, so no

Does calling Undertale, Hades or Hollowknight indie feel wrong as well?

Glitch doesn’t have investors except the consumers that buy the merch. So therefore it’s independent, it’s indie. Amazon is the equivalent of Nintendo putting Undertale on its store. You get a little money for licensing but I guarantee you Amazon isn’t funding any of it fully or everything would be branded with some shit like “Amazon Presents” in the show itself. If you start seeing those then Amazon footed the full bill. Until then this shit is still indie.

>having talented people working with you means you've sold out

Well, they technically are. But Disney doesn't make anything. They have smaller internal companies make stuff and oversee it, and those companies are not independent.

There was an indie film called Cloud Atlas which starred Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Jim Sturgess, Ben Whishaw, Hugo Weaving, and Hugh Grant, all playing 5 to 6 different roles each (including yellowface, gender-swaps, a cannibal tribesman, etc.). It had a $150 million budget, was directed in part by the Wachowskis, and stands as the most expensive independent film to date.

Never underestimate what you can do when you go indie.

I await for when the Digital Circus movie basically completely kills Glitch the same way Jonah did to Big Idea
>>
>>152793604
Dana Terrace and Chris Sabet are nobodies in the grand scheme things. The sketchy stuff is Amazon and Netflix.
>>
>>152798245
Unless episode 9 is close to feature length, chances are there's not going to be a Digital Circus movie.

Is Valve indie?
>>
>>152797572
Glitch gets ABC money, but so do a lot of indie studios.
>>
>>152793698
Independent at what level? Because if you mean independent at a corporate finance level then indie means nothing

Thanks, guys. 'preciate the support for your own country.

Indie stands for independent, at least it used to. Obviously nowadays people refer to indies as smaller companies (usually) like start-ups and so on. Perhaps the definition has changed but still, being an independent game developer technically means you're an indie as you are not tied to an external publisher.

SMG4 died when Meggy showed up and wasn't allowed to say the word retard.
>>
>>152793734
I think they were until they bought everything. Now they're basically the industry.

I'd say they were still indie until the Walt and maybe Roy died. Despite their success they were outsiders to the entertainment industry
>>
>>152793747
ILM isn't because Disney bought Lucas film. I'd consider Japan independent from Hollywood but I wouldn't really use the indie/industry distinction for Japan as a whole
>>
>>152798762
I'd say so but I'm not a gamer. Either way comics and cartoons, dude. It's one thing to draw a comparison if the example can help you state a point but let's not start a bunch of whataboutism about non-/co/ topics.
>>
>>152793604
They're not indie for any reason that makes sense according to the literal definition of the word. They're indie because they have a small roster of shows that takes them months just to make one episode for.
>>
>>152793604
Any animation studio that isn't listed in the stock exchange or owned by a big corporation should be considered indie.

Smg4 peaked at the waluigi arc
