Thoughts on Bechdel's comics?
>>
I think nobody has read them. People just know about the Bechdel test.
>>
>>152794281
Fun Home was extraordinarily dull.

Jesus H. Christ, I knew she was a famous lesbian but I didn't think she looked like THAT.
>>
>>152796760
like a gay man with AIDS?
thats one of the four lesbian pre-sets.
>>
>>152796760
>>152796773
All those poor pooners struggling to look like androgynous, downy cheeked twinks at bare minimum, and one butch boomer hag manages to pass with little more than a short haircut and drab clothes.
>>
>>152797094
ive heard of heroin-chic
not aids-chic though.

She should die in a fire.

I like watching Reverse Bechdel Test movies.
1) All main characters are male
2) The men never fight about a female
>>
>>152794281
They're good. But also if a woman fights as hard as she does for men who call themselves women, I think she's actually bisexual instead of a lesbian. And being a lesbian is her brand soooooo

>>152796760
we need more handsome women who still call themselves women
>>
>>152794281
Never read one, and clicked on this thread because I saw the image, then the post and honest to God thought:
>There's some dude with the same name as that "Bechdel Test" person that also makes comics?
>>
>>152794281
I don't like autobio comics, I have a deranged bias against them reading too many.
>>
>>152797546
There are some good ones.
>>
>>152794281
>Haha men are so fucking BAD lmao
>>
>>152794281
Funny that a woman who hates men would go out of her way to look so much like one
>>
>>152797503
I'm seriously not yet convinced that's not the case. But that's her name on the cover.. so that's her with her.. pretend wife?

And it proves nothing. Baby got Back arguably passes it. I'm pretty sure I've seen some scenes in movies arbitrarily made just to pass this "test", I.e. two women talking about nothing relevant to the plot (usually themselves).

The thing about "the Bechdel test" is the context in which it was presented was essentially a gag strip and Bechdel's point was just that she'd like to see more movies with meaningful female interactions (also in the context of cinema as it was in 1985) not that her fictional character's personal tastes should be applied word-for-word to every movie as an actual test of its feminist credentials. But of course people are retarded, so that's what happened.
>>
>>152794281
Sadly can't look at them the same when she admitted she's a massive hypocrite and an AI shill
>David Goodman: In Spent, you lampoon the fact that the main character uses a cartooning program, but there’s a serious element to that. How is AI impacting your world?

>Alison Bechdel: In fact, I kind of went over to the dark side a little bit on my latest book, Spent, because I did not draw that all with a pen and paper. I did half of it digitally just because I needed to work faster, and digital drawing is a lot quicker. I’m still drawing it myself, but it’s just on a screen, and it’s kind of different. Interestingly, I used AI for the first time as I was writing that New York Times cartoon—one of the panels is about how to generate your own electricity, given that now the AI data center down the road has jacked up your electricity rates. So I drew myself on a treadmill with my flock of goats and we’re generating our own renewable energy. I asked ChatGPT to make me a drawing of goats on a treadmill, and it did, and I sort of copied it. So who knows where I’m going now—I’m just going right down a chute to hell.

I met her at a book signing in the 90s at a feminist bookstore where someone brought up R. Crumb and the hens muttered "sexist" until Bechdel sternly told them he's a serious artist they should respect. That was when she still looked like a cross between Harry Potter and Where's Waldo. Incredibly based.
>>
>>152794778
I'm still pissed that she could have done a musical about the DTWOF characters and instead she did her own bland life.
>>152796760
She constantly made so many jokes at her own expense about this that people thought she had to be self-deprecating. She really isn't. Mo is more femme than she is.
>>
It made an interesting time capsule of a side of the 80s-90s not often seen. A little depressing in the sense literally nothing has changed in the past 50 years

Bechdel had moved from Minneapolis to rural Vermont so homaging one of Vermonter Norman Rockwell's most iconic paintings was a no-brainer.
>>
I think about her going to a McDojo for two weeks and then immediately getting BTFO'd by a random urban youth a lot.
>>
>>152794778
Yeah it really was. The Greek mythology references really fall flat and the actual cartooning is pretty uninspired. Its not a terrible read but its another case of a dull work being propped up because comics can only be taken seriously if they're autobiographies.
>>
>>152799544
That’s pretty lame. I liked Dykes To Watch Out For and Fun Home.

>The Amazing Digital Circus doesn't pass the Test™, since Zooble is not canonically considered a woman* and their conversation with Gangle in episode 6 is initiated by the latter expressing fear over a male character

I very much doubt Bechdel herself wrote that, she seems a bit tired of the fact people use it as a real metric and attribute it to her in that way. In her own words:
>Interviewer: We should talk about the Bechdel test…
>Bechdel: If we must.
>Interviewer: How do you feel about it these days?
>Bechdel: It was a joke. I didn’t ever intend for it to be the real gauge it has become and it’s hard to keep talking about it over and over, but it’s kind of cool.

>I asked ChatGPT to make me a drawing of goats on a treadmill, and it did, and I sort of copied it.
"Copying" to a traditional media artist means "used as visual reference" not "traced" so she's not quite in bed with Satan just yet here considering the subject is complex and absurd (flock of sheep on treadmill).

Do such movies even exist? Token female character is obligatory in Hollywood, no?

I think the issue was that when it made her money, she was all for it. Now that it's become a punchline that got the rabid redditor, tumblrite, and twittertard "feminists" rallied under it's banner, she's trying to disown it before it consumes her entirely.
>>
>>152804265
People talking about the Bechdel test doesn't make her money.
>>
>>152803565
You could remove the women from all but like two episodes and the show would absolutely not change at all. It's based.
>>
>>152804289
Yes it did, though attention and media marketing to her books. Now it's turned against her and she's trying to save herself from the dworkinte demagogues she created.
>>
>>152794281
I remember their biography comic had her try and pick a fight with a black man and she instantly got BTFO.
>>
I only read the one where she gets the shit beaten out of her by a nigger, did she ever make anything else of value?
>>

Lawrence of Arabia
The Thing
The Good The Bad And The Ugly to some extent, though personally I prefer the rest of the dollars trilogy.
Saw right?
12 Angry Men duh.
Reservoir Dogs.

Wut? All the female characters are very minor characters and it's the best of the trilogy.

Women talking about themselves is the plot as far as they're concerned.

Huh

>>152799544
Oh good, a reason not to read any of this shit, thank you.
