I was really high-strung, put a lot of really unhealthy expectations on myself, intense fear of failure, etc. I was probably just a few years away from trying for the high score. Then I watched this episode again when it was on syndication and that scream...that fucking scream...and all the shit that happened prior to it. I don't know why, but it scared the everliving fuck out of me because I related way too well to a character who was probably, what in his 60's, when I wasn't even a teenager at the time? I scared my family because I got really quiet for a while after that while I started to really think on things, and what I was doing to myself. I mellowed out a lot after that, and through most of my high school years. People thought I took up weed, which I always found funny.

As I recall it was only his appeal hearing that was actually ruined. Meaning that there was a judgement placed against his company already and this was just the hearing to see if it could be overturned. He probably should've known about that an have already argued a case, or took some legal action against the city if they were railroading him. There was a valid grievance against Gotham's justice system though, which apparently doesn't account for any form of mitigating circumstances. I suppose the easiest way to win any civil suit in Gotham is just to put sugar in your legal opposition's gas tank. Instant summary judgement.
