Team books suck. They always twist and downplay the stars, then fill the rosters with redundant nobodies, while reusing the same villains and ruining it for the solo books. X-Men only works because it was designed as a team book from the get-go.
That's a fucking retarded take, retardo.
Fighting Kang with just Captain America sounds like a bad idea.
>>152794579I don't like team books, generally. Cape writers tend to barely be able to write one character, and with a whole team it becomes very apparent how lacking they are. And there are more issues.I've enjoyed very few team books, including original teams. X-Men is one of the ones that doesn't work.
>>152794579No, you're just an idiot. The same kind of mouth breathing fan who thinks his favorite character should always be in the spotlight.
>>152794579You're right OP, most team books end up being a mess because its too many characters to juggle and bunches of characters get pulled in disparate directions depending on whatever Big 2 event tie-in status quo changing slop is coming out this month.Avengers and Justice League have not been meaningful in YEARS. Even X-Men has been a mess for a long time and (pre Krakoa) your best bet for enjoyment was usually the side books like PAD's X Factor, Exiles, Uncanny X Force, etc. When I think of good team books, I think of Parker's Agents of Atlas, DnA GOTG, Simone's Birds of Prey but all that stuff was like 20 years ago.The last most recent good team book I can recall for Marvel is usually whatever Al Ewing did (New Avengers, Ultimates 2, GOTG). Would Superior Foes of Spider Man count as a "team" book? Is F4 a team book? It's more of a "family" book in my eyes. For DC, I'd say the last great team book was Terrifics.
>>152794579Is green lantern corps a team book?
>>152794579you're right in a sense for the big books. There just aren't enough feasible threats to justify all the heavy hitters sticking around for long periods and they're dicking around (could be fun). They work better for smaller stuff with less power. It also takes a bit of skill to get team dynamics right but it's extremely noticeable when it's off
>>152794579Team books are fine though I do team books with original characters tend to flow better. Solo characters tend to have a lot baggage and fanbases they bitch when they have the share spotlight.
>>152795045Yes.
>>152794921>Ewing Ultimates>Superior Foes of Spider Man>TerrificsI didn't like these.
>>152795125Almost all of these big two characters, team members or not, have tons of baggage.
>>152798560What about all the new characters?
>JLI>LoSH>X-men>ThunderboltsI love team books. Nobodies are the best characters to read about because they aren't trapped by "oooohhh we can't do anything toooo crazy with spider-man"
