I watched through the original show for the first time a few days ago and I just finished the Lost Adventures/Team Avatar Tales omnibus, and The Promise comicThe former was mediocre, but inoffensive. I got a little bit of a giggle out of Azula trust Joo Dee to oversee Ba Sing Se in her absence, presumably because Joo Dee is such a professional ass kisser, and one other thing I've already forgotten about, but overall it was fine but midI think The Promise has a really interesting concept (how to handle Fire Nation colonies in the Earth kingdom and what the fair, political/diplomatic resolution should be to handle their sovereignty for the longer-standing colonies that have already had time to develop their own local culture and identity), some characters, namely Zuko, just act dumber and more stubborn then they should for the sake of creating conflict. It's not ideal, and I especially think him seeking Ozai's advice so quickly is hard to buy, but it's not like the show itself was free of interpersonal conflict for the sake of it (It's one of the issues I have with Katara who was otherwise one of my favorite characters when she's level headed)I'm also not a fan of Mai breaking up with Zuko over him doing things in secret, but the actual execution of the scene wasn't as bad as posts like the OP in this thread make it out to be, and I think Toph's students pick up Metalbending too easily, but overall I didn't think it was too bad, though I did have my expectations lowered by people saying the comics were even worse then KorraI'd give Lost Adventures/Team Avatar Tales a C- to a C, and The Promise like a C+ / B-Are the rest of the comics even worse, because if not I don't think they deserve the vitriol even if they're not particularly great. This is making me think maybe Korra isn't that bad either
