Yeah. Don't get me wrong, Allison is WAY better than she was earlier in the comic... but she still feels like she isn't anywhere close to living up to the hype.

'Big army of normal dudes' seems like it should be the bare minimum of something that a key wielder should be able to trivialize, otherwise what even is the point of a key? Allison needed to be shooting down enemy ships one after the other to show she means business, otherwise why should we believe she has even a fraction of the power needed to fight Jagg and survive for more than a few seconds?
>>
>>152808306
Everyone was laughing at The C-List Brigade showing up and threatening Allison because we all thought they’d get deleted in a matter of pages
I guess this book needed more bloat though
>>
>>152808306
She doesn't even have one of the tiny keys, or a seventh of it, she's got the main one. And she threw a ship, jumped bad and is already bleeding internally. Compared to chain lightning slashing some monks or ship teleportation, she almost feels weaker, not more comfortable in her boot(s).

Godamn this shit sucks. It genuinely feels like Allison can't do anything at all that's influential or powerful.
She has THE key. What did she do this fight? She beat up some guys. She lassod a ship and hucked it into another ship and then that's about it aside from getting her ass beat again.
I just do not get what Abaddon is doing here.
Like look at what an exhausted and beaten down Solomon did with sealing Jagganoth. He got his shit pushed in, he was spent, and he could still do that yeah Allison doesn't have Ki Rata but fuck man.
At least let her have what should feel like a bonafide win.

I can only imagine the entire idea of the key, and everything we've been told about the setting's history and working, are a lie everyone in setting believes. It's all just self hype and BS. That's the only thing that makes sense anymore. You're staring in to the Eternal Lake of Burning Fire and watching the sinners there pretend they are ascending the cosmic ladder through violence. That's all that's going on.

After all that bullshit about Allison tearing off her arms and legs and eye and pretending to be badass, we get this?

What utter tripe if it's anything less than this. Even the time loop and Jagganoth stuff have to be nonsense. Everyone is just high on their own BS. How would you even know you were in a time loop anyway?

This is still my favorite webcomic of all time and I still have nothing but good will towards Abby, but I'm not thrilled with Allison at this point.
Looking back, there are several times where she seems more royal than she has in this arc. It's great that she struggles but not that she's being slow and ineffective. All that communicates is that she has backslid somehow or is conflicted / not commiting.

Everyone who swore blind that this time, THIS TIME, Allison would stop being the fucking Scrappy Doo of her own story and get her shit together owes me. Personally. An apology. What a pathetic fucking jobber she's turned out to be.

I unironically believe the "fuck Jag out of his war funk" theory now because the only that makes sense for Allison being able to change the outcome anymore is Allison being so desperate and pathetic that Jag feels sorry for her and decides to put everything on hold because she reminds him of how Yaun was before having the weakness beaten out of him.

>>152810586
Telling Mottom to fuck off and setting her husband-tree ablaze genuinely feels like Allison's peak in the comic somehow. Even getting a foothold on Gog doesn't feel like much of a victory considering by Gog's own admission she can only wrest 7 minutes' worth of attention from the mass.
>>
>>152810599

True
Still you're not going to fuck the world better as a dead fish or split in half by the Jaggahog
>>
>>152810640
I don't disagree, but Allisonfags have been holding up her mind to mind win against Gog as her current big win. I always found it underwhelming; like you said there are better ways to have executed it than yet more Cio angst.

It's a shame because she was handled well enough right up until Abby had to write a serious confrontation between her and Allison, and suddenly critfailed at coming up with something satisfying.

>>152810629
Bisexual and still kind of in mourning. What's also funny is that niggas here were shipping Allison/Cio back when Allison was a nervous wreck most of the time and Cio was a cuhrahzee zanny bug lady, but immediately turned on it after they got together and they realised Allison is kind of a sullen needy stubborn mule and Cio not only lost her zanny artstyle but shuts off completely outside of sex.

There's a lesson in that, probably.
>>
>>152810640
That would have been a cool direction. Since power in this world correlates to understand (aware or unaware) of royalty, beating Gog by just 'getting it' would show that she might have a shot at beating Jagg.
Because she'd be the first one to try and take him out without just using brute force.

I mean they already were prosthetics. We just moved from prosthetics to prosthetics in what was Abbs pretending Allison had some kind of realization but didn't actually have one. Though to be fair, that is 100% correct to the reality of how such moments go. It was just mundane emotional catharsis. Allison didn't change or grow at all. It's just your typical emotional catharsis that pretends to be growth but sets you back at the start without having learned anything. Except now you have one more delusion to feign warmth with as your toes and fingers turn black from frostbite. No different than that one business that makes money off letting people throw plates and stuff at walls to break them. It's just abusing emotional release to make you feel like your problems are gone for a short time.

Honestly, I expect the problem really started when the notion of teaching Allison how to fight started, and it's too late to go back to our untrained know nothing barrista pretending to get a degree. Allison did the impossible on sheer gumption and asspull. Now she's just like every other C or D lister that is ~totally cool~ but really just throws and and is boring slop. We'll never get those moments of Allison remasking a devil or beating Mottom again. She's just a Goku now. She's a nothing.
>>
>>152810687
As a creator it's very easy to see so much of the big picture that you don't understand the things that made your character likeable and fulfilling.

Im not sure if this has a literary term but its VERY common in alot of modern writing.
The reasons can vary, setting reset to status quo, different writers on the same project, whatever.
But far too often we get these genuinely good moments only for characters to go back to being complete fuck ups. Or to actively pass up on far, far more interesting opportunities for no logical reason.
Like, how cool would it have been for her, cio, and punch angel to become demon maskers (with angel ensuring there is some sort of guidelines of course)
Thats a far better way of her building an army and could tie into the name we still have no fucking idea what means. Kill six billion demons. It kills their old selves, and gives them a chance to be something new. Hell make a group of maskers who learn to partner up, donning their demon's masks like her and cio. Could have been the key seeking army even.
but im rambling at this point. TLDY shitty, wasted writing heavily carried by the art. Much like lancer and every other project shes done outside commissions.
>>
>>152810683
Royalty means whatever the fuck the authors bipolar mind wants it to in the given situation.

Considering Yisun was a self hating moron who killed herself I don't know why anyone would want to emulate her. I mean, everyone is Yisun, is it some subconscious desire to go back to life before the suicide? But it was so bad she killed herself!

>>
>>152810710
Totally in agreement bro.
'Just a Goku and nothing more' should be a phrase that creators fear like death.
>>
>>152810816
This is a very nice contrast to how Gog was so reluctant to help the other Demiurges yet is jumping at the chance here. Some of it just comes down to Allison giving her even a single shred of respect.
>>
>>152810772
In unsounded Cope has Duane backslide after his epiphanies because she says habits of behaviour die hard.
>>
>>152810924
Gog was extremely pissed at Allison hijacking her and doesn't agree at all with her take on things, pretty sure she's just fucking around to kill time.
>>
>>152810935
exactly! shit like that is what annoys me.
Its not like people would fully change personalities or anything. yes old habits die hard. But people adapt and change!
Have them carry over old habits into their new roles or have other ways of dealing with stuff.
>>
>>152810935
A lot of writers have difficulty balancing character growth with a character becoming boring because they don't know how to write a more balanced state of mind without totally sanding down all the edges. Like, if a hot-headed character gets slapped with a big, painful lesson in restraint, a lot of writers either just totally remove their hot-headed traits (inevitably making them way more bland) or they sorta act like the lesson never happened and they're still hot-headed as ever. The point of character growth should be curbing the more self-destructive aspects without totally lobotomizing them.
>>
>>152810935
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If people do the same thing with the same outcome people stop caring. If people change and then the change was for nothing, people stop caring. The death of beauty is apathy.

Also what world do people live in where people don't change all the time. Even the most ignorant people change what they think all the time.
>>
>>152810946
That's definitely the surface level reaction, but it's also probably the closest thing to a peer relationship Gog has had in eons.
>>
>>152810772
Status quo is god?
>>
Can I get a reminder what deal Allison and Gog have?
All I remember is Allison ate the worm and it didn't take or some shit like that.
>>
>>152811841
That's not even a bad thing but it reaches the point where you as the reader have to actively choose to not bother anymore.
>>
>>152811858
The deal was Gog agreeing to let Allison use her full abilities for 7 minutes.
Allison ate the worm and dominated Gog, yet paradoxically they both exist as separate entities. In reality Allison could subsume Gog and end this battle without ever negotiating with Gog, but Allison chooses to treat Gog as a unique being. This whole thing is very meta-schizo, much like how you can consider this whole series as YISUN arguing with themselves.
>>
>>152811962
Alidon can resist Gog but full domination might be something she could loose at.

Isn't this just another failure of everyone involved at being gods.

Because it's decisive battle doctrine. Because she only has seven minutes of Gog. Every second spent traveling is wasted.
This entire battle has been a feint to draw as much of Jagganoth's forces into a single place as possible before that window of time starts, so that as much time can be spent as possible on killing them instead of chasing them.
Besides, we don't even know how many people are *actually* dead, again because Gog.

KSBD is openly derivative. It's a gumbo made of ingredients that Abbaddon likes.
I happen to like how they taste too.
>>
Consider the pages:
https://killsixbilliondemons.com/comic/wheel-smashing-lord-3-68-to-3-69/
https://killsixbilliondemons.com/comic/wheel-smashing-lord-3-70-to-3-71/
Gog is extremely powerful, but has had to grown over time as memory has accumulated. It's reasonable that the rate of growth slowed drastically once she reached a size encompassing most of as much of existence as she'd ever control, but it's still a gradual increase in power.
https://killsixbilliondemons.com/comic/wheel-smashing-lord-4-111-to-4-112/
Nukoku has the right idea, but the wrong guesses here. Allison isn't talking about herself or Jagganoth, she's talking about Gog.

I mean, isn't this what makes all the pomp and nonsense of the setting very likely BS in reality? It's just BS the characters believe, and now Allison has been tricked in to believing it same as them. No time loops. No YISUN. The keys really are just glorified rocks. They don't do ANYTHING. No one has divinity. It's just self obsession. It's just a bunch of murderers finding a sword on the ground then declaring the sword has made them immortal flawlesss gods that can shape reality to their will. The 'angels' are all full of it too. Glorified rock golems that they are.

They only use what they have for violence cause nothing has changed, and the tool they have can do nothing else. It has no divinity nor power.

>>
>>152812894
I'll be honest.

I think Abbadon's problem is they want to make all this stuff about their cool leftist/worldly philosophies, but in the first place the comic's source materials never had any delusions of grandeur about what they were. Well, most didn't. Do you know what the typical shonen story is about? Your DBZs or Yu Yu Hakushos and occasional Superman story and what have you.

It's Pro Wrestling.

That's why things work the way they do. Why epic 1v1s? Rivalries that make no sense? The primary actors all have larger than life personalities? Why everything is like a match in a ring that only gets interfered with in strange moments of sabotage? If you look, you may start seeing which moments are front stage moments and which are back stage but with the camera on. Everyone has their little costume that is as much part of their person as their own head even if it's just a very specific set of normal cloths. Villains seem to descend from nowhere just as the last one is finally put away. Cause the show must go on. No one questions it cause questioning it ruins the moment.

And the very magic of Pro Wrestling exists precisely because it's not real. If you forced it to be real, it's just terrible. Well, you get KSBD, don't you? You know it's not real, but it's fun. It would be like stopping in the middle of a game of tag and pointing out the rules are made up.

Just like how The Watchman was never what Alan Moore wanted it to be among readers. I think everyone understood his point more than he thought, but his point is bad.

It's a fine story but a lot of this stuff people saw coming from ages ago and the fandom was really fucking mean about the downgrade in quality. When an author asks you to trust them you don't do that, you just say no and move on.

I'm still amazed the moron writing this thought that the whole Cio/Salami/Maya was a good idea. All of it. I'm still really grossed out by that fat bitch dancing.
>>
Be honest anons, would you love Alison if she was a worm?
>>
>>152813170
I'd love a wormgirl GF but my gemstone bitch left me because apparently "she only wants a friend".
>>
>>152813072
>Well, most didn't. Do you know what the typical shonen story is about? Your DBZs or Yu Yu Hakushos and occasional Superman story and what have you.
They have themes, despite the power scale Dragon Ball is more personal.

And YYH has an entire arc philosophical about finding the Epstein files, and a scrapped one about heaven's corruption.
>>
>>152813162
>fat bitch dancing
?
>>
>>152813199
I don't know the context of the scene but it was still gross.
>>
>>152813072
>Villains seem to descend from nowhere just as the last one is finally put away. Cause the show must go on. No one questions it cause questioning it ruins the moment.
Goku did, it is the reason for why he stayed dead after Cell
>>
>>152813170
I'd demand she make me a worm too.
>>
>>152813216
> Goku tries to game the system
> He realizes the cameras exist and are Watching
> If he takes himself off the stage, there is no show
> This actually works
> Visits for ONE DAY years later
> Instantly the biggest front stage storyline ever
> And all crammed in to that one day

Shoulda stayed dead.

>>152813193
Don't act like YYH's attempt at either were very well done. Similarly, HxH trying to be more than what it is has never been convincing, and I'm not sure why fans of it think otherwise. YYH was self aware of it's position and at least handled it accordingly. Well, to be fair, I think HxH is the author gaming the system. They won't let him make his weird niche experimental titles.. so he makes them anyway using the same setting and characters instead.

Very clever, honestly. He keeps getting away with it.
>>
>>152813209
Which scene you talking about nigga did the rest of us repress it?
>>
>>152813294
I don't even know anymore. I wish comic authors in the west would quit undermining their own works.
>>152813291
This comic wishes it had the depth and soul of Dragon Ball let alone fucking YYH or Hunter x Hunter. Which is funny because Dragon Ball is better then both of those.
>>
Probably confusing the time when Mottom jumped on a table.
>>
>>152813120
Well, was the point of the comic ever really very moving? Though maybe I'm just fatigued from it all trying to be too serious and turning out slop. Watchman was still an amazing story. Pretenders just pump out pure garbage.

Also, yeah, the movie was awful.
>>
>>152813490
The thing people forget is that Watchman is SHORT. The stuff webcomics try to pull off is more akin to a book.
>>
>>152813434
>This comic wishes it had the depth and soul of Dragon Ball let alone fucking YYH or Hunter x Hunter.

Well, Dragon Ball is self aware and true to itself. That's why it works. Toriyama never seemed like an overblown or arrogant man to me. Didn't huff his own farts. He was legitimately one of the most skilled artists on the planet from a pure technical view. In not trying to be more than what it was, it's moments struck deep. Genuineness is like that.

Meanwhile, KSBD is fake and feels fake. In trying to be as deep as the ocean, it's becomes shallow.
>>
>>152813490
>>152813521
Wanna remind you all that K6BD wasn't planned to be this big in the first place, it was a mspf fanproject that started with reader input and Abby only started the comic proper because people demanded to throw money at him, I was there giving him a dollar a month. Many of the changes have come from his main source of income, his discord/patreon fans who he hangs out with and talks to constantly.

A horrific revelation.
>>
>>152813546
I need to be honest but I feels like the author never went to school. You can play pretend all you want but if you honestly want to go at these topics you NEED schooling. Which, well, college and school is easy it's just super stressful.

Also Toriyamas art is the work a god. It's better then Berserk and it's not even close. It's just so pure.
>>
>>152813546
>Meanwhile, KSBD is fake and feels fake. In trying to be as deep as the ocean, it's becomes shallow.
Abby was told by fans he was deep as the ocean he didn't go in thinking that. Hell the comic started as writing practice, the stated mission was learn how to write a good story.
>>
>>152813521
This is my biggest critique. I get it because they're incentivized to keep the money coming but I really wish KSBD had been smaller and not worn itself so thin
>>
>>152813566
Don't blame the fans for the shit the artist does or puts out. He makes money, it's his job, this is okay and I'm happy for him. Doesn't mean I need to like his shit.
>>
>>152813566
how very gog agog like
>>
>>152813589
> the stated mission was learn how to write a good story.

Bruh. Is abadon a cuck or what? It made him money. That's it. If he enjoyed doing it all the better. I would think he'd consider himself extremely lucky. That mission statement is the most meaningless shit ever.

Guy worked hard and got lucky and is now making (hopefully) good money. That doesn't make this any less trash.
>>
I re-read ksbd recently along with the side stories and I really didn't have any problem with it at all
in fact I really enjoyed it

I don't know what you niggas keep yapping about

>>152813585
is that blame!?
>>
>>152813622
Abby is writing shit he likes and makes money off it, your ideas of pretension are imagined and no one cares if you like the comic it's just that your complaints lack substance.
>>
>>152813681
> ideas of pretension are imagined
Kill yourself.

I'm going to outlive you.

Always keep in mind that at least half the people posting on this site have spent the last decade having caught the truck, watching the results play out, and coping with the increasingly obvious contradictions. The inevitable psychosis bleeds into everything else, especially as inconsequential but bad critical opinions.
>>
>>152813792
I remember enjoying the ksbd threads years back
nowadays all I've got is unsounded threads
>>
>>152813720
I'm happy for you. Genuinely.
>>152813792
It's funny because these threads used to be active. I don't know about Unsounded but was that also a super active webcomic that subverted itself to the point where it has no activity?

What I think is funny is that Anon seems to think me saying Abadon is a hard worker who got lucky is somehow a bad thing. Or that he's not pretentious. Mainly because I know some other faggot fan is going to argue that he is pretentious and it's in fact a good thing.

I can't do what he does and neither can you faggot.
>>
>>152813895
>was that also a super active webcomic that subverted itself to the point where it has no activity?
that could be dozen of comics
>>
>>152813910
It's not exactly uncommon in any field desu.
>>
>>152813588
Toriyama's technical drawings as a point of reference.

But even beyond that, his artstyles have always been notoriously difficult to replicate properly. Fakes can be spotted from a million miles with single digit numbers of exceptions. Beyond that, his knowledge of 3D space, action flow, linking events, and much more are beyond all but the most upper tiers of artists. You will NEVER feel lost reading the manga. You will never flip back and forth trying to figure out whats going on between panels. There's also a reason anything written directly by him, versus things he is 'involved in' feel so different. Despite seeming of the same substance, Toriyama has an incredible sense of story beats.

It's also like a joke in itself such a man was born a comedy writer, but maybe that's also why it works? He never seemed over inflated. He just wrote what worked. Including not sweating the details on his own lore if something just worked better. Helps he never explains jack or shit on panel. Doing that feels like a noose writers make for themselves. The more physics you explain, the worse you've made the situation for yourself.
>>
>>152813640
>is that blame!?
It is, and it's also a reaction image I've gotten a lot of mileage out of. Though if it's worth knowing, a while back BLAME! got a kind of remaster in to print in English. Worth checking out if you are really a fan and want pages that are more readable. That's more along the lines of darkening some things so you can see the detail. Not actually changing things.

Very nice to flip through. Anons dumped the whole thing on /a/ some time ago. High approval rating. Worth money and shelf space if you really want. Or just get it digitally.
>>
>>152813895
>webcomic that subverted itself to the point where it has no activity
Now that you've phrased it like this, I feel like this happens a lot?
>>
>>152813910
>>152813924
Is this a phenominon where web comic artists feel they are too good for the masses, but once their work gets popular with the masses they feel the need to trash it? Just guessing.
>>
>>152814777
Don't focus too hard on it. There are a thousand reasons - a big one being that most interaction takes place during key story moments and it's when those are dead that you really have to worry. For the subverting thing, well, it's not new. It feels like a generational thing, like everyone born around the 1990's just can't help themselves.
>>
>>152814812
If it's a 90s thing then it may be the abusive mentality instilled in to children around then that
> Popular and big = inherent unforgivable evil
Something like that.
>>
>>152814801
>webcomic artists think they're too good until they're popular
What are you even on about?
Are you fucking high and stream of conscious posting the shit your misfiring neurons string together to keep the thread alive?
>>
>>152814866
You understood perfectly what he meant you just think it's dumb.
>>
>>152814894
Gaslighting isn't real.
>>
>>152814855
The contrarian mentality is older than te 90s.
See the seethe some subversive fantasy writers have against Tolkien.
>>
>>152814928
I've heard enough of the larger fantasy genre from others to be convinced to stay very far away from it.
>>
>>152811656
Duane does change, it's just that it takes more than literal days for most people to wholly change fundamental beliefs. Especially so when that particular character is having to grapple with another character actively manipulating events to make it so that he ends up his worst self to serve their own machinations.
>>
>>152815305
The only thing I know are the memes and I refuse to read it on that merit alone. A character that has to have every cool moment interrupted with tiny toons nonsense and everything being suffering is just not something I'm interested in. You get like, two or three super dark moments and then it just becomes cartoonish.
>>
>>152814954
Tolkien or the fantasy genre? Tolkien is like Alan Moore, where he is blamed for things others did.
