>>152808649My dad was an intelligence officer in the Navy. We had an amazing house each base we were stationed at but homes on USAF bases put even ours to shame. Still, they always came to the naval base because their bases never had any shopping or anything to do. The commissary, bowling alley, arcade, even restaurants were always all on the naval bases for some reason.There were also shittier housing options but my dad being somewhat high ranking and my brother having a disability, I guess they just made sure we always had the best homes. When we were stationed in Philadelphia, my family would drive to the nearby Toys R Us to buy NES games rather than get them from Navy Exchange because they were much cheaper, even with tax. I think fuel was cheaper on the base but idk since I was too young to care about gas prices. I just remember my dad would always gas up before driving off base. Same with groceries. My parents always went to Pathmark rather than shop at the commissary.
