Alright I have a challenge. Since the X-Men were woke for their time, let’s take modern woke characters and rewrite them as if Claremont and his contemporaries wrote them back in the day. You can keep it modern, just use the same style of writing. Only rule is you can’t change the core identity traits.

Not so they can complain about it every week, but so that their decisions seems to have context. If you're missing a leg, your solution to problems will not be an impromptu footrace, nor complaining about how fast everyone is. In "bad" writing, a character will have a quirk that makes them special, but they are generic in every other way and make decisions that any person would, and for drama people are just mean to them.
