Was the success of his first movie enough to make him an A-lister?
Yeah. I think it went from one of those semi-obscure characters only people who actually read comics like to the type of character you see on kids backpacks and lunchboxes.
>>152812091>Was the success of his first movie enough to make him an A-lister?Not really in the comics, but because the way direct market works favours the same characters who were popular in the 80s-90s.Unironically there is more of a chance the Teen Titans manage to become A-listers in the comics again than the likes of Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, Aquaman or even Iron Man despite how much the latter's movies grossed.
>>152812091is he even talked about anymore?. Everything the mcu puts out feels like a fashion fad.
Yes, he's the world's first black superhero
Maybe for like two or three years. Far as I can tell nobody cares anymore.
Maybe not in comics, but he's well-recognized and generally well-liked outside of it, so probably.
Not recasting T'Challa is the stupidest thing Disney has done with the MCU. Because how many notable male leads does current MCU have? Thor? Spider-Man? That's it, really, right? Or I guess there's Ant Man, too.
>>152812361>>152812382>>152814131Hasn’t Rivals kept him relatively well-known? If that even counts— it’s not like Adam Warlock, Magik, or Squirrel Girl could ever be considered A-list before that game. Now, though…
>>152812091Yeah.
>>152814316I doubt he fell off that sharply without it, he left an imprint that never really went away even if his game was canceled and his movies hit a snag without Boseman. He's at the very least the most popular black superhero in the world, so he's at least the king of that niche.
>>152812382>Maybe for like two or three years. Far as I can tell nobody cares anymore.yeah, t'challa got fucked by boseman dying and coogler being a faggot about recasting
>>152812091sure why not
>>152812382basic cable has a unofficial rule that his movie must be on every weekend. seriously, actually watch regular tv on Saturday or Sunday. you WILL come across it.
>>152817439Don’t other MCU movies get similar screenplay? I find it hard to believe Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t getting the same treatment, at least.
>>152812091>Was the success of his first movie enough to make him an A-lister?I don't know, but his second film certainly returned him to his original position.
>>152812091If he's an a-lister why doesn't he have a run now?
>>152817779Turns out speeding up "MSheU" wasn't a good idea.
>>152817871He’s too busy celebrating his 60th anniversary.
>>152817734I think they rotate all the others ones around. there's always a bunch of different MCU movies in play but Black Panther is always one of them.
>>152812091Yeah I'd say so.
>>152812091It would have been but the actor died and Marvel's response was for some reason to basically nuke the character in response
>>152812091Disney/Marvel not finding a successor after Chadwick passed pretty much deleted all the momentum the character had.
>>152812091It would've been but then his actor died and they pointlessly retired him in the films. Although maybe that's a blessing in disguise since he avoided the really, really shitty part of the MCU, he's mostly untainted. Either way his comics aren't really doing it though, he needs a cartoon or game or some shit to be more than a flash in the pan.
>>152814316>Adam Warlock, Magik, or Squirrel Girl>A listers because of a fucking videogamekek no, call me again when they get their own movies
>>152812091only among people who don't care about comics and only want to use them to push some anti white male agenda.same with spider-negro
>>152812382>Hard tank your new, successful, rising big black...character you always wanted because you didn't want to do a recast.
